US Pilot Labor Thread

Shut up and pay your dues and be a "good union pilot" until your furlough notice comes in the mail. You will never have enough brain cells or DOH to match the superiority of the east. 🙂

Hey EastUS! Should I copy this quote so I can paste it here multiple times in what's sure to be many more threads of argument?

BTW tazz, I received my furlough notice just the other day... Maybe you can explain it to my three children? 'Cause I'm having a hard time with it.

What I find to be most interesting is that even by DOH this furlough is being conducted out of seniority and USAPA is failing to make any objections. AWA pilots with 4 years of service are being furloughed ahead of new hires and CEL pilots out East. Looks like USAPA is going to be the FIRST pilot union in history to condone out of order furloughs. Where is the integrity there?????????????????????????? How is this justifiable? This union is pathetic...

Until there is one contract which includes a resolution to the seniority issue, there isn't anything that can be done. Of course refusing to pay dues or agency fees and participate will just strengthen the company's hand and lengthen the process.

Tiger, that entire post was written tongue in cheek. It is total sarcasm, written in jest from one west guy to another. Reread it please and accept my apology for any misunderstanding.

There is nothing easy about it. You just have to tell them that you work in an unstable industry with a weak profession that stretches from flight instructors all the way up to senior airline Captains. With a weakening economy and high fuel prices, for better or worse the company's solution is to park airplanes and layoff employees. That your profession has no sense of itself and after 30 years of deregulation has offered nothing to mitigate the effect of being employed in a hyper competitive industry.

exb717 quote;

"Who do you think was making the decisions in Herndon? ALPA isn't a dictatorship and if it was Prater would surely have forced AWA to make concessions. The ALPA EC and EB are representative of all the ALPA pilot groups. "

Quotes from one of your own america west pilots.

"ALPA National pushed the other West Reps and the MEC officers hard to cut the deal and we ended up with no furlough protection in the TA."

"ALPA National and the MEC officers just wanted an agreement that protected the merger. Our Merger Attorney butted in with an August 29, 2005 email telling the MEC (not the Reps) that we needed an agreement more than the East did."

"Don't blame the East for that one. Their MEC encouraged us to enter Section 6 with a resolution. But ALPA said NO and our MEC bought off on it."

U turn speaks out on the US Airways (west) furloughs.

Thanks for the laugh
I need to send you a bill for a new keyboard after I spit my coffee out all over it.
Using a U Turn piece to prove any point is high comedy!
Those sure are objective guys without any agenda

So you say that nothing can be done about out-of-"seniority" (ie😀OH) furloughs because of a lack of an integrated list. Hmmm... Does this mean that once this is resolved you will condone recalling those furloughed out of order from the West and then furloughing those from the East who escaped that fate?
Just curious.

Prechill, get a clue: Parker didn't step in and buy US Airways. The highly profitable east coast operation stepped in and saved the west with its nasty low yields. If it weren't for the highly successful east operation we would all be unemployed right now. The east boys are justified in drooling over west furloughs because they were just waiting for that pitiful carrier AWA to hit the skids anyway.

OK... I had to re-read that post 3 times before I realized the sarcasm.

"Highly profitable east operation??" At first I scratched my head and thought... you can't be serious. Then I finally realized that you weren't. 😉

beg to differ. This is my 3rd furlough and virtually all my classmates (minus the AF guy) have been furloughed at least once and one had five furloughs.

Even someone with half a brain could figure out I was talking about being furloughed at USAirways (East and West). Just to make it simple so you can understand. No West pilot being furloughed has ever been furloughed from West before. EVERY East pilot being furloughed has been furloughed at East. I think there are about five now West pilots who are former East pilots who were furloughed when they were working for East. Does that make it clear, Pole?

I duuno, Pole. Until we're combined on one list, it looks like the company is doing it by seniority. Also, don't be so sure that USAPA isn't going to protest this. I take it your a non-member. Non-members don't get much of a voice. snoop

"Not many west joining, but agency fees are pouring in. Amazing what certified letters did for the USAPA bank account."

This is lies and propaganda....not one west pilot to my knowledge has received a certified letter.

Thanks for the update, Least. It looks like those checks are piling in without having to send out certified letters. That's good news. You guys are getting religion. snoop

Keep spining and spinning that much and you are going to get pretty dizzy!

Jetz, I guess my sarcasm is as clear as mud, but I believe you are a United employee. Most of us at US Scareways know, despite what the geniuses on this board say, that Parker did, indeed, step in and buy US Airways shortly before they were to liquidate. Despite what is said on these boards their high east coast yield still had them weeks away from chapter 7. Also despite what is said here America West Airlines had three successive quarters of profit prior to the "merger" announcement.

My comment about being a "good union pilot" until the furlough notice arrives was, unfortunately, offensive to someone who actually is being furloughed and for that I am sorry. The gist of that comment was really a jab at usapa which is gloating over the fact that we all will be fired for not paying dues and I should more correctly have stated "until your termination notice arrives".

Parker did not buy US Airways, it was a merger with outside financing arranged by US, not HP.

Please don't make us go through this again.

You are wrong, I just don't want to go through it all over a fourth time.

hum. I know some of the bankers. The deals were put together by Wall Street love child Lakefield. Parker and Boy Kirby were pawns, but they were not the ones calling the shots.

Some US Shuttle FA's can attest that Bruce & Co were on the shuttle to LGA, a lot.
