US Pilots Labor Discussion

My crystal balls sez: West being sold to Spirit. East stand-alone until AA BK, then merging with AA.
Cheers.
The funny part of you Easties continually fantasizing about merging with AA is you actually think you'll get the better end of the deal. BK or not the APA will wipe up the East like the wet fart it is.

Nice. Is that what you were when the APA wiped you up?
Nope. The TWA pilots would've had the integrity to live with binding arbitration if we'd had the chance. People with integrity do the right thing even if it doesn't benefit them. You could learn a lesson from the TWA pilots but I know you won't.

ALPA told you they were right, just like they did us, yet you sued them and won! Why didn't you just accept their word?

BTW, did you get my congrats on your victory?

Difference: the TWA pilots were screwed by Woerth and his cronies in their bid to appease the APA. The US Airways pilots feel they were screwed by ALPA National when in fact what I hear you complain about was committed by your very own elected reps. Scapegoat-ism.

Thanks. If I ever see any money from it I'll be making an extra donation to Leonidas. Tyranny needs to be fought wherever it's found.

Honest question because I know very little about your situation. Did none of the TWA reps know nothing about the screwing you took? Did they scream until they were furloughed to not let this happen? Was everything done on the national level? If so, I'm sure that made the DFR that much easier.

I hope you see some money and it is your right to use it as you see fit. I've never told you not to fight for what you believe is right. It was a serious congrats.

Initially, no. Nobody had any reason to suspect we weren't getting good advice from counsel. The first we line pilots knew of a problem was when Roland Wilder told us in October, 2001 he wouldn't fight Supplement CC (the 'APA Award', such as it is) in court because Woerth ordered him not to. From there on the treachery became obvious.
Was everything done on the national level? If so, I'm sure that made the DFR that much easier.
Yes. We certainly had our own internal MEC disputes but nobody there was actively working against us. Shameful as it is, one of our former MEC members testified on ALPA's side during the trial. The transcripts haven't been released yet but eyewitness accounts said his testimony did nothing for their case.

Response to Injunction Against USAPA- A Message from CEO Doug Parker

Friday, July 29, 2011

Dear Fellow Employees,
Today the Company filed a lawsuit in federal district court in Charlotte seeking an injunction against USAPA, the labor union that represents our pilots. The lawsuit asks the court to stop USAPA’s illegal job action campaign.

This is not a step we take lightly, but we simply can no longer allow the labor union’s illegal and misguided actions to harm US Airways, our employees and our customers. It is important you know that this lawsuit is aimed at USAPA and its leadership, not the thousands of dedicated airmen and women who – despite this political sideshow – operate their flights safely, on time and with the highest level of professionalism.
Today’s filing contains overwhelming evidence of illegal activity by USAPA including a consistent pattern of statements from the labor union’s leadership encouraging its members to slow down the operation and:

* A “safety” campaign that is clearly nothing more than a poorly disguised concerted illegal slowdown campaign

* Anonymous text messages encouraging slow taxis and other delay tactics to arrive at “Block +16” minutes – thereby missing the DOT on-time arrival window and ensuring customer and baggage misconnections

* Encouraging the delayed completion of online training in an effort to force flight cancellations

* Directing write-ups of non flight-critical maintenance items just before departure so that flights are delayed

* Threats to expose, intimidate and retaliate against union members who do not cooperate with the slowdown effort.

It is unfortunate USAPA has taken a page from an outdated playbook; namely, using the guise of safety to signal an illegal operational slowdown. We will never compromise safety at US Airways, but we also will not tolerate illegal job actions. We owe that to you – the 32,000 hard-working employees of US Airways – and to our customers, and we take that obligation seriously.

I’ve heard from many of you expressing frustration at what USAPA is doing to harm our airline. I appreciate that concern and am grateful for your continued commitment to our customers. With the initiation of the litigation, we are a step closer to getting back to working together and moving forward as one team to ensure the long-term success of US Airways. Thank you so much for all you do, and please keep up the great work.

Doug

HEY MIKE! HOW ABOUT ANOTHER USA TODAY ADVERTISMENT?? Keep following Mike, kids. He's gonna lead you to the promised land (promise you'll have to apply for UC). Moron.

I guess you didn't see my posts on the other thread. Care to respond?

He is getting good with those pom poms. Please don't' distract him right now. He is about to try the splits and I have $20 on whether or not he can get back on his feet afterwards.

Not so much. I just thought it bears repeating. USPAPA is leading the faithful right down another DFW lawsuit. USAPA has bought nothing but delay. Money in Doug's pockets....NONE in ours. Go Mike! Hey, why don't you do another paper ad?

Nope. The TWA pilots would've had the integrity to live with binding arbitration if we'd had the chance. People with integrity do the right thing even if it doesn't benefit them. You could learn a lesson from the TWA pilots but I know you won't.
Was that the same lesson plan that the Ozark pilots got?

Just your wise ass opinion and speculation.....or did you poll them all?

IMHO the Ozark pilots were treated very badly by the TWA MEC. Since those events took place in 1986 every TWA pilot who had anything to do with it was long gone by 2001.

Really..it is time to grow up and act like true professionals.....
