[h=1]US Airways largely rules out further industry consolidation[/h]
Just as fervor increases on calls for American Airlines and US Airways to merge, US Airways CEO Doug Parker announced at the carrier's quarterly results that consolidation opportunities had passed. His comments suggest he sees American Airlines and US Airways, the last two US legacy carriers not to engage in industry consolidation, remaining independent and on their own to battle their larger competitors.

All the changes that created the step change in the airline business in the last several years have created profitability even at high fuel prices and have all been accomplished, Mr Park said, adding that even consolidation is done.
“I’ve long been a proponent of consolidation but it has now largely happened,” he said. “We are down to four major, hub-and-spoke airlines and a few national low-cost carriers and Alaska which doesn’t fit either category. We have a much different industry today. When we started talking about it, one of the most important reasons for doing it it was to get the industry well. Now, the big strategic reason for consolidation doesn’t exist any more. It’s already happened.”
It was ironic Mr Parker made that statement just as a US Airways-American merger is being bandied about, albeit after American goes through bankruptcy. He did not address that and perhaps his comments reflected that he is not interested in such a union. But, having prompted the United-Continental and the Delta-Northwest mergers, that is highly doubtful, since he has previously said US Airways would likely participate in the next round of consolidation.

If you angry FOs want to bring it onto my flight deck then I can and will oblige.

Keep it civil and you stay on my trip.

Pretty simple. Even for you Boingo.

Is this the trip?

All East vs West rhetoric aside, if you are a pilot, you are a certain embarrassment to the profession.
I guess as an eastie you'd know about embarrassment, wouldn't you?

I'm just a humble west pit putting these east guys in their place. Amazing how you don't make the effort to see we're these series of posts originate.

Now why would I be fired putting an angry FO in his place?
You said, "Don't let my Capt foot hit your FO ass on the way out of my Airbus flight deck."

Tell your daddy that even a threat of such means there will no longer be any kind of CRM in that particular cockpit, ever. He is now "single pilot". He gets to be a "pariah" in the system, and, if airborne, can expect that the threatened pilot would likely declare an emergency at that point.

But, hey, go for it. It ought to be fun, for the FO.

You guys quit telling everyone about the war you're going to have in the flight deck and you won't have any problems.

Actually, it was you who first brought up "violence" in the cockpit.

"Don't let my Capt foot hit your FO ass on the way out of my Airbus flight deck." You own that particular phrase, as well as an initial reference to physical assault in the cockpit, ma'am.

What does your alleged "daddy" say to that since you have implied you do not know much about flying?

No, it was an eastie who first brought up violence in the cockpit.

Look back boo boo instead of guessing.

What's all this nonsense about violins in the cockpit anyway?

I've seen plenty of pilots with small practice guitars and even keyboards. So if people want to bring their violins, I say go for it.

(For those of you who remember Roseanne Roseannadanna)

No, it was an eastie who first brought up violence in the cockpit.
I don't think I said, "westie". I said, "you", as in Move2CLT.

I cannot speak for the west, but I do know at least two east captains about ten years ago who resigned because the FOs made their lives so miserable.

But, hey, make it an east vs west thing, the only thing you and tempe are good at.
