Actually, ALPA policy mandated arbitration after a specified time period.... Or weren't you told?

True.....yet immaterial in our circumstance. I think it is within 100 days of the PID. Good rule. It is an incentive in the mediation process.

ALPA merger policy also states you can just skip the mediation process altogether. So what??

Either side has the right to arbitration, and if they choose that option, there should be a time limit on how long the opposing side could force seperate ops and say steal their new found co-workers jobs. Don't you agree??

No crossing a picket line for this guy. Not even usapa's. Crossing a picket line is bad news, it's something you just don't do as far as I'm concerned.

Not completely true.

PREAMBLE
The role of ALPA in seniority integration is solely to provide the process by which the affected
pilot groups on ALPA airlines arrive at the merged seniority list for presentation to
management, through their respective merger representatives, using arbitration if necessary.
Responsibility for the merged seniority list falls upon the respective merger representatives
with ALPA National in a neutral position on the merits. It must be understood that what
appears to be truly "fair and equitable" often differs depending upon the eyes of the beholder
and that there may be no consensus of what is "fair and equitable." This policy does not
preclude two or more ALPA pilot groups from entering into discussions and/or reaching an
agreement without invoking this process.
(SOURCE - Executive Board May 1991; AMENDED -
Executive Board May 1998)

If the east pilots had not demanded DOH/LOS we might have come to a deal. If the east had not demanded furloughed pilots be placed senior to active west pilots we might have come to a deal. But the east MC was not allowed to come off that position.

So we went to arbitration and we have the nicolau.

All of you east pilots need to read this preamble carefully. It answers most of your arguments.

It was not ALPA national's fault it was your own MC. It is not ALPA nationals responsibility to set your strategy it was your MC.

You may not think it is fair but we hired someone to determine what was fair. Nicolau did that.

Its a different story for the west should the unlikely scenario of a strike come up. Do you honestly think we'd honor a picket line that was put up of the company not going with DOH?

All this time and money to fight DOH or a compromise and then honor a picket line that wants to force the company to compromise the Nic?

Like was said before: middle finger, crotch chop, and TDY to CLT.

I understand the sentiment, but in my opinion it would bite you in the ass later. If it gets to that point here, there might not be anything left from the ashes, except your name on a scab list. That's all that will stand the test of time. Do you really want to let those guys do that to you? Leave you with that legacy to live with for the rest of your life? Not me.

No one will remember or care about the west 'story.' No one will care about that. Heck, no one cares now.

I agree with you skynrd, but here is the problem.

What are you going to do if usapa calls a CHOAS strike, the company proclaims it an illegal job action and will fire anybody who refuses a flight? Then usapa picks West metal first, just to throw the label out there? You working and having usapa label you a scab or are you getting fired and having usapa try to get your job back?

Seems far fetched, but these scubags want you to pay for them to sue you: so it is just as likely they will try to get you to pay for their work action

point being>>>>>dont fall into the trap of playing their game>

Well I hope we get legal resolution to the seniority is before it comes to any of that, which I expect will happen frankly. Usapa is just so discombobulated right now I don't see how it could get to a release, even as slow as the legal process can be. It's all just mental masturbation anyway, given our circumstance.

I'm all in.

SO....

All MIGS must vote to take the keys away from the idiots who are bent on the moral equivalent of vehicular manslaughter on west pilot careers.

They cannot be trusted and they must not be followed. Vote in leadership worthy of the name and then STILL watch them like a hawk and hold them accountable for their actions.

Or better yet, bury USAPA and start over.

Agreed...so what was all this BS on the board about West pilots backing Cleary to hopefully boil the pot over? How much is enough? Get behind people that will make something out of this and can start some cooperation between East and West. I would not hesitate to vote for someone that I believed would move this pilot group forward, and I don't care WHERE they are based.
