US Pilots Labor Discussion

You would think that our new President Gary Hummel, knowing that a large percentage of pilots are unsure of his motives, would do all he could to be as transparent as he campaigned he would be. Especially until we are confident with him and his motives. Instead, Gary Hummel, Steve Bradford and Rob Streble all secretly went to PHX today, have not answered any of the queries of the BPR and are staying at the Marriott, not a crew hotel.

The BPR was not informed of this trip by the officers, they have no idea who they are meeting with, and the officers have refused to answer text messages or cell phone calls from the BPR.

What I find interesting is that a few months ago, Joe Stein told my crew that Mike Cleary secretly met with management and quote: "sold us out." Of course it was just another attempt by someone with an agenda to create distrust of our former officers before the election. In that case, Mike never made that trip to sell us out. It's been my experience that people with a devious agenda often preempt something by making accusations that they themselves are guilty of. Kind of like 'the best defense is a good offense.'

I hate to think what is happening without our knowledge, but I hope that it was all a misunderstanding and that they just forgot to tell the BPR about a golf outing they decided to take.

I think we deserve answers.
Gentlemen,

If you call the Marriott at 480-966-2800 you will find that all three of our newly elected officer are listed as having rooms at the PHX Marriott. Is this a crew hotel and did the current officers or BPR authorize any work for these men in Arizona?

USAPA BPR Resolution: March 29, 2012

Discussion continued from the previous day, dealing with unused vacation time by USAPA workers on AFB status. PHX Vice Chairman Eric Ferguson moved the following resolution:

BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Board of Pilot Representatives elects to deviate from the Union Operating Manual in order to accommodate unused vacation by outgoing USAPA President Mike Cleary.

After further discussion, a motion to table passed 7-4.

• For: CLT - Crimi, PHL, DCA - Dugstad, PHX - Braid, Scherff
• Against: CLT - Mckee, Ingram, DCA - Stein, PHX - Ferguson

___________

Mike Cleary has requested the BPR authorize the pilots to provide Mike 272 hours of additional FPL, under the guise of unused vacation (96 days times 2:50 minutes per day), after Mike leaves office on April 18.

According to USAPA DCA Rep. Joe Stein Mike asked Rob Streble and the BPR to provide Mike 96 days vacation due to "working without any vacation for 4 years."

That's three continuous months off of the line at full pay at 90:40 hours pay per month.

And, the East line pilots TOS receive 21 days per year (many of our pilots get less than 21 days per year) or 63 days for the past 3 years. Mike is seeking 96 days vacation for his 3-year term or 33 days more than the East rank-and-file pilots.

What has Mike done to deserve more vacation than the line pilots?

And, Mike already earned $54,000 in a Stipend pay not available to other US Airways pilots for all of his hard earned work that provided each East and West pilot a Permanent Injunction and their new contract negotiations "parked" by the NMB.

Where's the outrage? There are no union rules for an out going officer to have "banked vacation." If the BPR authorizes Mike to obtain even more union money after he leaves office should Randy Mowrey receive this too? Where will this stop?

Hello boys,

Just got home from the "across the pond journey". I hope you are all well.

Sounds to me that Parker is wanting to get a deal done. He has met with AMR creditors and APA. It sounds like he has indicated to APA that he will offer a better contract than AMR has on the table (according to the WSJ article). Hopefully, this could be a positive move for all involved, since Parker wants it so badly. Time will tell.

What makes u think the east will get any part of that deal?

Oh...there you are...I have been waiting for another one of you greedy boys to speak up. You're the 3rd one. The other three are just smart enough to not confirm what I said a few days ago.

IF such a deal came about, who's to say that US wouldn't be fragmented along fleet lines - keep the narrow-body Buses and get rid everything else, keep CLT/DCA (except almost certain divestiture of some slots) but drop PHL. Maybe only pilots qualified on the retained equipment would still have a job, or the available jobs would be allocated by seniority (and the Nic list). Parker could easily demand elimination of the min fleet and acceptance of the Nic as conditions for a merger...

In other words, be careful what you wish for because you may get it and not like it.

True statement, however, not only does Parker have a big ego and wants to own and control all the toys......if he were to fragment the different parts, who are the buyers? Delta? United?

I think Parker is going to have all of the puzzle pieces in place before anything happens. He wants to be the "god" of the industry and will hang onto all the marbles that he can.

Hmm, the only think that you confirmed is what an idiot clown you are, you don't even know who is suing who in phx

I think Parker...

That says it all - you think Parker will do what's best for the east pilots...What did you ask fodase...."are you psychic?"

Unfortunately, Parker doesn't get to vote on a POR. So if he wants AA he's got to offer not just the unions but all the unsecured creditors better than AA will offer. Doing that won't be easy - take the two highest cost carriers, promise more than AA is, bring US employees up to AA pay/benefits and still make the numbers work better than a stand-alone AA...

Sure pal,

We all know.....I just didn't have time to respond to your's and Move's smart remarks.

Even though the DJ lawsuit is filed by the company, a letter from the West pilots and AOL could have a huge impact on the DJ. You gotta think a little deeper instead of being so willing to do your name calling.

So you think every west pilot would sign such a letter? How about this...a letter from USAPA accepting the Nic would end the DJ immediately. Any east takers?
