US Pilots Labor Discussion

Exactly how, in your imaginitive interpretation of the past, did you come up with THAT? I think some urinating-for-dollars is in order for anyone that can in ANY WAY interpret what has occurred as anything resembling that.

Let me guess. You're not a witch. You're us.

I'm betting Judge Silver pitches this POS lawsuit out before Christmas.

Easy. The advancement of a DOH list was determined to NOT qualify as a "legitimate union objective". In fact, perhaps you recall that this issue went before a Jury in Federal Court. Both sides spent two weeks offering their sides to the Jury. 90 minutes after closing arguments, the Jury determined that USAPA had violated the West Classes' right to be fairly represented. Meaning, IOW, USAPA was found to be in violation of the law. The term for that is otherwise referred to as "illegal".

I hope that offers you some needed clarity.

Yes, I know. Not ripe. On the Merits, USAPA was proven to be...once again, an illegal, impotent failure. So again, DOH, in this instance was determined to be illegal. That fact doesn't go away. Either will the West. At some point, This is all going to get fought again.

How do you like your odds?

I have no comment of being a witch. Frankly I never saw that one coming. I have no idea what Silver will do . I do know this:

It won't matter. USAPA will fail.

Please point to any court document that the company states they will accept any list the union presents them.

What is stopping usapa other than inability and inexperience from getting 29 of the other section closed. Finally get a contract 2.5 years and usapa can not even get the easy stuff done.

You are not listening. The company does not want a contract. You got that? Listen to the crew news when DP says we are a "long way" from a contract as opposed to the September Crew News where we are " months away". The company has NO INTENTION of settling those outstanding sections because it commits them to spending money. They will ride this sled as long as possible. You make it sound like they are eager to spend over $100 million. Are you kidding???????

I am NOT in the USAPA cheering section, but I am a realist. It doesn't matter who the union is, USAPA OR ALPA. The company is stalling. They knew they would be pressed to negotiate after the 9th ruling, so they file this suit and set a whole new round of litigation in place to stop a contract talks cold. It worked.

Phoenix is the 5th largest city in America. Bigger than PHL.
Meh, population inside city limits is not a very meaningful statstic for purposes of this discussion. Much more useful to look at the population of the region as a whole (i.e., within driving (or in Philly's case, public transit) distance of the airport).

By that more relevant measure, PHL is much bigger.

I've got to go with Ames on this one. Your responses and detailed remarks makes me believe that you actually work in the industry as a pilot. While our wives are smart people (with the possible exception of their chosen spouse... 🙂 ), I don't believe any have as fully developed grasp of the industry as you appear to have.

I'm just having fun imagining which one of you sits by your computer in a dress & high heels..... 😛
An even scarier concept is the one we imagine on the website STRAYDOGSAREUS.COM

The only thing that would make it more fun would be for EAST US to return from the cornfield and challenge us to a dogfight.
+1 !

I forgot all about that. Now that was hysterical! Has to be one of the funniest (most embarrassing) moments in USAviation history.

Always a lot to say, supposedly does not work here, but every waking moment just hanging around tossing molatovs...... you figure it out.
Maybe I find it entertaining to keep you guys trying to "figure it out." Hysterical that you waste your time.

An even more relevant measure is passengers generated and there PHL suffers, generally being around 15th in the nation.

Jim

If PHL is 15th in passengers generated, what is PHX? Apples and apples...

I'm curious. I have no idea.

From the Management side of the table, when the only way to be a profitable airline is from charging for checked bags, what's the rush for a joint CBA.......

"Around" 15th - it varies from year to year and month to month.

For all of 2009, PHX was 10th and PHL was 11th. For 2008, PHX was 9th and PHL was 12th. Through either Aug or Sept of this year, PHX was 12th and PHL was 13th. I've seen PHL as low as 17-18th but because nearly all the top 10 airports are the same year after year. I'm surprised that PHX made 9th in 2008 given the normal top 10 airports.

PHL suffers from primarily one thing - proximity to NYC and WAS which are normally in the top 10 cities for passengers to/from mid-sized and larger airports. That proximity makes travel to/from NYC/WAS using alternate modes of transportation not just feasible but competitive with flying, so those alternatives take passengers away from PHL.
