US Pilots Labor Discussion

I'm embarrassed to work here. I don't tell anyone I work for USAirways unless I have to.
Are you just figuring that out now? AWA has turned this place into the embarassment of the industry. But I agree with you.

There was no choice.

At some point there had to be a stand against ALPA and its abuses. This was/it.

I think ALPO sucks to. I don't care who the bargaining agent is, the method is the same, the bigger hammer. That's what I object to, not the fact that the letters are usapa and not alpo.

To use your own analogy, then:

Should the east pilots have just allowed ALPA's even bigger hammer to slam down on them yet again without a fight? Do you really object to our managing to escape being decisively smacked down with that big hammer? I suppose you feel we should have just collectively tucked our tails (careers) between our legs and slinked away whimpering like a whipped dog.

NO ONE was listening to us. Not ALPA; not the west. There was NO OTHER CHOICE at the time, and there remains little choice now but to see the entire show play to the closing credits.

If we in the east accepted the Nic, we could finally move together to secure the former, but only at the expense of the latter.
So it's better to prevent everyone from getting the former over a relatively short delay in upgrades for the FOs that are "disadvantaged" by the nic?

It isn't management that has made this company the butt of so many jokes in the industry over the last few years.

Thing is, you were going for to much. Both from the beginning, and to this day. That's why you broke out the bigger hammer. That's what I'm talking about. Those conditions and restrictions are fluff. They are really designed to remove west captains and insert east fos hired 86-90 or so as the ebb and flow between bases occurs in the future.

All I get out of what you are saying is alpo wouldn't just let the east unilaterally do what they wanted, so you traded them in for another unit who would.

Thats interesting that you say that, mind telling the group how you come to that conclusion?? I mean in all honesty seeing as how without AWA you would even be in the profession at this time you should be kissing the feet of AWA. Further wasnt AWA the company that met the failed and twice bankrupt USair payroll when usair was on its way out for good??

If anything USAir has tarnished our once great company. Usair was a faliure and everyone knows it but you obviously. The east was furloughed to almost 50% when AWA saved you and your career but you dont want to talk about that. The management team of Hogg and Bular are disgraces and you brought that one sided thinking trash with you as well.

I dont tell people I work for USAir either as I most certainly dont want to be grouped in with a bunch of pilots with no honor no integrity...

That's funny, I ran into an older gentleman who says he's a retired US Air pilot. My next question was, when did you retire? He say's 2002. I then asked where were you based? His answer PHX. I said nothing.

Great company? awa couldn't get an overwater cert. tried three times and failed all three. They brought in the east training dept

and passed in two weeks, great company?

Actually no!! You see I was a twice elected rep under a REAL union and I can tell you that we had several that hadnt paid dues in years and I for one would NEVER go after a persons career simply because he didnt believe in the union.
Usapa is just a weak east excuse!!!

I can't believe anyone would admit to that. the worst contract in the country. Do you really admit to that?

Gee whiz. Even after a post like yours, some people still believe Stockholm Syndrome is a myth. There are professional therapists that can help you with that, you know.

The professional employees of USAir are the resources that make the profit a possibility. The managers in the sand castle (dare we use the term loosely) are the ones responsible to organize and manage all the resources in a synergistic way. Contrary to your religious-like proselytizing for employees to feel inadequate and unworthy, the employees have every right to expect to be fairly treated and compensated for the outstanding job they do day in and day out.

Invest in some therapy dude so you can be a benefit to the team.
