To an aestie and the UELs he is a coward for standing up for what is right. To the rest of the world Stauffenberg is a hero.

Stauffenberg = traderjake
You have honestly lost it if you even begin to compare these two......Traderjake- G. Gordon Liddy. Watergate. Soon to be implicated with co conspirators in Cactusgate. The leaking of East pilots names from Catcrew with help from Elise.

I totally disagree, traderjake is about three grades above his peers. So, if trader is General Arnold, I am curious who you correlate Boeingboy with- our nations third President perhaps?
This one is very easy: HR Haldeman. Nixons' Chief of Staff.

America's Worst Airline
America West stands out as a paragon of badness. It ranks worst in customer complaints, worst in lost luggage, worst in cabin comfort and next-to-worst in on-time performance

February 17, 2000 would prove to be an omen for the year. Eagle, the automated dispatch system, went down for over five hours. At the time, America West had no backup dispatch system, leading to over 280 cancellations over three days. Passengers were left stranded around the system, boosting the industry-high complaint rate. America West was rapidly becoming known as "America Worst" for its customer service and operational problems.
The relationship with the FAA was poor, leading to further restrictions on growth until the FAA was assured maintenance could handle the extra aircraft. The airline was not in good shape.
Tempe-based America West Airlines was hit with a $5 million fine over aircraft maintenance and operations issues. At the time, it was the largest fine in U.S. aviation history.

Among the allegations: that America West flew 17 Airbus A320 aircraft that were overdue for required inspections. Public documents showed that the airline flew an additional 185 times after the airline was notified that inspections had been missed.

Yet AmWest is only the worst in a field crowded with incompetence. The major carriers have turned business travel into an inescapable evil--a hair shirt with wings. You call an airline and are told your flight will take off on time, only to arrive at the airport and be kept waiting for hours. The food is awful, when you can get any, and thousands upon thousands of bags are misplaced or lost (see Baggage, p. 108). Airline seats seem designed for stick figures (see Comfort; p. 110). Complain about any of this and you risk arrest (see box, Seething on a Jet Plane, p. 106).

AmWest (nyse: AWA - news - people ) almost goes out of its way to cultivate rocky relations with its work force, and employee bile poisons every public interaction. A senior executive at a rival airline says he has never seen a carrier whose approach to workers was so confrontational. "Employees feel they're being used," he says. "It's tough to get them to win one for the Gipper."

That airline was always the cockroach corner into which every substandard employee and management crawled. The proof is the fact they supposedly control USAirways, but have lost control again, and taken it right to the crappy level where they ran AWA for years. The have returned to the level they belong, and dragged the east right into the swamp.

Sir,

I suggest that you refrain from making false accusation of an officer of the company.

You have no evidence or proof.

And as long as we continue to have traitors like you around who do not understand mutual support and do more damage than good, it will continue to be so. You are disgrace to the people that are forced to fly with you and should do us all a favor and depart the fix for good. We will all be better off when you join BB and become impotent....loser.

usapa and the AFO trading the west career to improve the junior east pilots.

Trading the west contract, sick time, scheduling, medical costs all for your seniority.

What's the difference? You guys are telling us to wait our turn, that we will be senior someday. Exactly what you were complaining about.

Open your eyes and see your hypocrisy.
"career" is that what you call 15 years of the lowest pay, junk medical,no retirement, laughing stock of a airline. you really are a joke.

I worked for AWA through that time period, it was a ####, not fun at all. Neighbors asking me what was going on with America West and so on and so forth. It was embarrassing, but we perservered. Throughout it all though, flight ops was top notch, alot of east folks make fun of Australian scabs, drug runners and this and that, but I have a different viewpoint.

I was raised in a Legacy carrier household, my father was one of the fortunate. When I came to AWA, I found the equal of my father and his peers, only they weren't quite so fortunate. They worked for such carriers as Braniff and Eastern. We had academy grads and fighter jocks to, the best of the best. Flight ops was always top notch. And thankfully management figured out how to extricate us from what you quote.

I don't care what you write, AWA pilots as a whole are the equal of any.

As a result, America West Holdings and its wholly owned subsidiary AWA are now wholly owned subsidiaries of US Airways. In addition, AWA transferred substantially all of its assets and liabilities to US Airways. All off-balance sheet commitments of AWA were also transferred to US Airways. This transaction constituted a transfer of assets between entities under common control and was accounted for at historical cost.
you were saved by US from "project Zanzibar"
