WEST/EAST transition training classes

The West instructors are gonna be in for a rude awakening and I stress RUDE when they start training some of the more senior f/a out east.....It never fails...every year...for some reason they never listen. They talk while the instructor talks. They sleep..its crazy! I just couldnt beleive it my very first reccurrent.. But..every year when I go back there are always a handful in every class that act this way. Has anyone else noticed this?

We on the west HATED the new door op procedure when they rolled it out. Lots of complaining and "I'm not doing that, it looks stupid!" comments. BUT, it has worked.

Hopefully this thread can stay on topic and drama free so we can all learn what is going on in our repsective training classes. I have it next week and I've already heard that the instructors (from the east) are great. I'll be sure to post an update once I've taken the class.

Just wondering... how do you guys out west get paid for training? On the east side, we get a flat rate of $60.00.

Just wanted to add that we get paid 4.23 credit hours for the class, based on what ever our hourly rate is and we are also getting paid 3.00 hours when we complete the 3 CBT modules related to the merger integration training.

I've never experienced this...ever.

I myself have never really experienced f/a's this rude during any kind of training to be honest. I HAVE had many a class with the "superstew" that has to ask a million questions all damn day. Obvious questions at that. I always blurt out "Put it on a post-it". It drives me crazy. Let the instructors do their job and save your questions until the end of the class. We all just want to get it done and over with. There will always be chatty folks in class due to the fact that it is boring as all get out most of the time. I think a lot of our training could be cut out but the company is required to give us so many hours of blah, blah, blah...... I can't wait to see what this training is all about.

To you all I have to say is another ISD memo was sent out. ZERO ISD .
=============================================

What is an ISD? Do you need a perscription for that? or is it available over the counter.

HP Inflight (note the correct spelling) needs to get a grip about using silly acronyms.

Ciao bella

I am guessing...inadvertant slide deployment.

I usually get the stews who have endless stories to tell about their "incidents". Yawn :boring:

Well in all fairness we at East have had our share of acronyms. It's all you hear in training. Just think about when they talk about emergency equipment. SEP,FAK,EEMK,EMK,AED....on and on...its silly. Sometimes it reminds me of the song. R-E-S-P-E-C-T.  As for us doing the new door arming/disarming procedure, hell many of us already talk to ourselves. Now we will just start answering ourselves as well. Oh brother, whats the number to the new EAP? See more acronyms.

And dont forgot to put all babys on the floor at the bulkhead in a blanket... To become a missle...  Get REAL that's the last thing a mother will naturaly want to do!!! PLEASE...  GET REAL. B)
The whole purpose is to have the baby at the lowest and farthest point possible so that it DOESN'T become a missile, e.g. in the mother's arms...I guess you're having difficulty with this concept.

I completed 3 CBTs today, the first had about 175pages, the 2, 3rd each about 150pages. Have to say some very interesting changes.
Who thinks of these training procedures?
Lots for the West to learn 😉 We don't have a single page.

Repeat after me.

THE WEST WAY IS THE BEST WAY.

After saying it one thousand times you will believe.
HaHaHa If this was true, we'd be studying THEIR manual.

Well how about this one. In an unplanned evac you are to yell "Grab ankles, heads down, stay down". How in HELL are the passengers to grab their ankles. You can't even get your bag out from under the seat without looking like your fighting with yourself. You tell the parent how to hold the child then off you go. They are on their own. In an emergency I'm sure you wouldn't stand there and debate it.

Oh please, it's not just the senior ones. I have been sleeping through training for a few years, and I am junior!

TravelPro72 while yelling "Grab ankles, heads down, stay down" may seem stupid there is a valid reason why airlines or US Airways uses this. In an unplanned emergency take-off or landing there is little time to react. Since, we only show passengers the brace position in a planned emergency "Grab ankles, heads down, stay down". Is used to get passengers down to the lowest position possible to prepare for impact and avoid flying debris. Since in a planned emergency you yell "Brace, Brace heads down stay" Because you have shown them the correct brace position already. I hope this answers your quesion

Uhh... something tells me Travelpro already new that!

I am actually curious about this training. I just packed my mini-buffet. I'm ready!!! My supervisor told me that there is a QUIZ at the end. I hope I won't fail...heehee. Class ends at 1730. It would be nice to get out just a little early so I can catch the 1730 home tomorrow. Will update y'all on all the exciting details.
