The CWA is pushing it hard. The few PAX folks I talked to at ORD are voting for it 100%. They don't have a contract right now and seem to be a strong money lean. I imagine most hubs will pass it as they feel protected. Sorta like how ORD, IAD, SFO, ORD passed the United contract as they didn't seem to care about smaller or mid sized station work.Agree that both like UA would be great. BTW, if you haven't looked at pax ser contract you should, problems with some things. Think they should vote down.
Same thing happened at US AIRWAYS. Hubs had no problem approving class 2 pay for mid sized stations while other stations got contracted out. I imagine Parker has a thin line he will budge on and will offer the money and maybe holidays and in return insist on converting to the American Health plan [more cost for LUS full timers], converting to American scope, thereby refusing to cover catering, and probably meet at about 15 flights a day scope. I would be against that sorta scope unless it was in single digits, but I admit that a contract with a big money grab and some more retirement monies and holidays will pass by the strong majority even if it meant tossing out catering and small stations. Most everyone I talked to in ORD wants the cash. Parker isn't stupid.
Honestly, people upstairs and even downstairs are counting the ways they can spend the $29.27 and aren't really caring much about anything other than their own station. I hate to say but $29.27 will pass overwhelmingly as long as holidays were added and double time. Heck it may even pass without double time added or holidays. My hope is that the negotiation team is wise and doesn't do like the IBT at United or like Canale back in 2005. Bringing back a proposal to the members, with the negotiating team washing its hands and saying "We didn't agree to this but we decided to bring it to a vote" is a lack of duty imo as the members will most certainly pass it even if it had little scope or part time restrictions. It just seems to me that the big pay raise is all that folks are looking at, and that's all that most will look at. Everyone is jumping at the pay. People don't care. I'm telling you, they don't read or care about anything but their own station. Hopefully, I'm wrong.
