Never was a mechanic (thats how you spell it) I was an IAM rep for years,Utility and a Stock Clerk, was on the Mechanic and Related Negotiating Committee at US, and was on the Continental Airlines Flight Attendant Negotiating Committee also.
And the US M&R all ready reached and ratified a post bankruptcy CBA a few years ago, that included raises and a pension. And they are preparing to go into Section 6 negotiations for a new CBA (that would be the second one since the merger) in January.
