AFA labor discussion (Work related)

honestly couldn't tell you. I never really kept track of my sick calls because it wasn't an issue. Called out only when sick (I know, totally dorky) and had never gotten a warning letter or anything. I was a 15 yr reserve. I wanted to work and wanted to get my time in. I actually liked to be on the plane and didn't care how hard the day was, I looked forward to being in a cool city at the end of it.
I think scheduling was making an issue of it because as usual, they were desperate. Christmas eve and things were canceling left and right for lack of crews.

Thank you for the information.
I have been told by the pilots that they have REJECTED PBS.
If it isn't good enough for them I would venture to say it is not good enough for the F/A's either.

Rumor had it that w/ PBS, we would need less f/a's on the property, was that addressed in MF's Q&A?

Pilots would not know what is good for them if it hit them in the "You Know What"!!
MHO!!

US Airways seeks to make labor contracts more merger-friendly
As US Airways eyes a new contract with flight attendants, negotiations are complicated by separate labor groups left over from the merger with America West and by the belief that yet another merger may be in the offing. "Looking out over four or five years and recognizing that a merger is a possibility, we want to make sure we have the company in an advantageous position," says Steve Johnson, a US Airways executive vice president. Current labor contracts include "snap-back" provisions that would dramatically increase salaries in the event of a merger. Such restrictions "would add significant costs to a merger [and therefore] would prevent or inhibit discussions," Johnson says. TheStreet.com (12/17)

While the company is trying to make our contract as they say more merger friendly what are they doing about the executives and managements salaries, contracts and the amount of management that we currently have. They want everything to be from the work groups. Well they might as well forget that because this group is done giving give backs. They are trying to negotate a contract for a commuter airline not a main line carrier. When they start negotating in good faith we will then continue to listen, but until then its a big NO!

I just saw on the news that the airlines made 41 billion dollars just this past year in baggage fees. Billion dollars!!!! That's amazing.....billions.....not thousands....billions.

Why are we getting cheap and sleazy proposals from the company? Because they want it all for themselves. Pure and simple.

And the proposal from AFA was realistic???? Perhaps the two shall meet.........the art of negotiations!!!!

What do you get when you have unprofessional AFA negotiators out of touch with it's membership coupled with cheap management? Look around! 🙄 Happy New Year everyone. Let's hope for a better year.

... the Mayan long count calendar will end well before there is a joint F/A contract at US Airways ... BUT, what the heck, the world will have ended, and then ... who will be left to care anyway ...

Happy New Year Everyone!!

Amazing.....the same people saying the same exact thing about every union leader...every US managment team .........There are some people who who can not ever be satisfied no MATTER what....Let the talks happen and everyone will have their say when its time....

yeah, lets talk. SOMEONE has the unmitigated gall to think that thousands of flight attendants, who STILL endure and struggle to live under a bankrupt contract for the past EIGHT years will continue to give concessions to further reduce the living standards of this labor group for the duration of it's next contract. Spit!

Unmitigated gall is an appropriate reaction to the most recent incredible re-interpretation of US' ever present inability to attract a merger partner.

It isn't the fact that AWA merged two struggling carriers and basically flushed the reputation of the newly formed company down the toilet and continues to do so.

No, it's those pesky F/As and their scope! That's what is preventing US from an attractive merger partner!

It couldn't be all of the customer unfriendly initiatives or the fact that they basically kissed off the frequent flyers and corporate contracts!

Sheesh.

I have started to come to the conclusion that no, we will never get a new contract from this management.

Guess what? I don't get what I want and neither do they.

I'll just sit on this and watch time run toward Section six. With its ridiculous compensation proposal there is no way that can be interpreted as negotiatng in good faith.

BTW, why is the AFA proposal unrealistic? It's basically industry standard with a minor raise. Just because US has tried to make you believe that F/As shouldn't be properly compensated doesn't mean that you should fall for it.

SWA makes $60/ hour.

United/Continental turned down $57, obviously they know what they're worth.

Take your Stockholm syndrome somewhere else. They're making billions, they can pay us.

It's so easy to figure out who is management here and who is an employee. This management team is a union busting, lowballing group with NOTHING but contempt for their flight attendants. Look at what is happening now with flight attendants getting letters as to WHY they didn't answer their phones on their overnight rest to be reassigned. REASSIGNED?????? Does anyone believe they care that there is a contract in place? NOPE, they will continue to push and push and push to see how far they can take it. They will try their hardest to BUST this union. AFA on property as of right now is weak as water......WEAK AS WATER but the flight attendants standing on the front line ARE NOT....YOU WILL NOT BREAK THE GROUP! ! ! YOU WILL NOT SILENCE THE GROUP! ! ! YOU WILL GET NOTHING FROM THE GROUP! ! ! ! Got it?
