Just wondering if anyone has seen any ads warning the public that they will be paying for beverages starting Aug. 1? Or is Tempe just going to let the f/a's announce it on each and every flight?

There has been quite a bit of media attention to this along with the bag checking charges. It would seem to me IMHO that anyone that is not aware of this has had their head under a rock for the past few weeks.

Hey, you know what, I went into the airport gift shop today in the Gate area, and bought a bottle of water, and spent almost $2.00. and then it dawned on me, You know what, Nothing in life, is free anymore. I'm glad we are charging for water and soda. The only problem I see, is the flight crews taking the entire airplane stock of water to the hotel with them at night. They have been doing that for years in my city. Also the contract ramp workers helping themself to soda and water when they clean the aircraft. I have no idea how the company can account for the coffee, water and soda. I guess its not my problem, but just wanted to add my 2cents.

Most crews over the past couple weeks that I've flown with have been mentioning it. I'm on a flight this Sunday 8/3, and I can't wait to see how many people have a kanipshin. :blink:

That's right --those flight crews are nothing but a bunch of thieving, stealing ripoff artists!!! If not for them, just think how much money US Airways could make!!

🙄 Oh yeah, case after case so they can bathe in it! Get real! 🙄 And as far as the ramp goes, working in the 100+ degree element I'd gladly give them water or even a soda if they want or need it!

Yes, we regularly lug 48 big fat bottles to the hotel all the time. Hydration is very important.

Sometimes, I bring 4 or 5 cases to the Super 8. I warm it in the coffee maker, then bathe in it. You can't trust the water in Detroit.

I also use it to brush my teeth, and humidify my room. I don't trust the air in Detroit either. Gotta stay moisturized.

I think there should be massive signs alerting the public so they can hit up the ATM machines before being trapped without food or water for hours on end.

Perhaps US Airways can take a cut of the ATM fees. After all, they'll be the ones increasing that ATM business. And, of course, the ATM's would only dispense twenties, making it worse on the flight attendants.

If I, for one, were ever caught on a US Airways flight (hopefully over my dead body), I'd pay with a twenty and tell the flight attendant to give out the next 9 soft drinks for free. I'm not interested in dealing with change and neither are the safety professionals on board the aircraft. If the Flight attendant isn't game for my random act of kindness, he or she can keep it for a tip. I don't care at all that tipping isn't allowed, either.

The airport concession stands near US Airways gates should try cutting their water or soda prices to $1 per bottle. They could then have big signs advising passengers that they can save 50% buy purchasing in the terminal instead of on board. They could probably triple or quadruple their volume and make more total profit than at the current retail price.

So, does this mean that since oil is now nearly 20% lower than when this policy was developed, there will be improvements in the not-so premium service offered by US with all of the revenue they will be seeing by continuing to nickel and dime customers even though oil prices have dropped considerably? I flew 4 NW flights this week and I notice they have apples, bananas, pretzel crisps, some nut mix, granola bars and Twix bars in their snack basket--and they use glassware on short hauls--what's US serving these days in their snack basket for FC? stale generic pretzels?
