Fleet Service apathy

Who did you get that 'fact' from?
The facts were actually quite public. I sent him a text first in which case he wanted me to come in his office immediately after he called me a F ####. I wasn't angry at him, I actually told him that I wasn't going into his office and that I was enjoying myself in Miami on a vacation fixing to go on a cruise. The guy was so soft that he still didn't fire me and so I continued to post on facebook that i was running against him from August 12 onward. It was very public. And he fired me. No big deal and it really doesn't matter what his reason was. On paper, his reason was that I was violating the IAM constitution by telling previous teamsters to stop paying their teamster dues since they were now IAM members. But who cares.

regards,

Interesting that those who oppose the Occupy ticket would rather attack Tim Nelson personally than defend the performance of the incumbency.

Tim has made it no secret that Delaney fired him. I believe he's even offered to share the letter Delaney gave him for the termination. I don't remember why, but he'll tell you. If memory serves he also said that this happened after he said he was running. I don't know if that's true or not and if there's proof one way or the other.

You know, here's strange idea... Rich Delaney could sign-up for an account and he could address the topic, and maybe even present his ideas to the Membership and maybe answer a few questions regarding his decisions?

So Reminds Jester.

Why would he do that? He didn't even bother showing up in CLT to support his AGC there because he knew he would have to answer some tough questions like why he believes part timers should make half of full time and a slew of other questions. If he was there, he would have been forced to debate all the nasty things he has done.

What am I going to derail? Stop lying to everyone, nobody is in the middle of negotiations. Delaney is the starting pitcher in the first inning and he can't get out of the inning. Besides, Delaney has never negotiated anything and has absolutely no experience negotiating. Please inform all of us what Delaney has negotiated in 4 years at ANY airline? We would like to know?

regards,

Mr nelson. Can you please say how many union contracts you have negotiated? I was told you have not ever been in talks. Your honesty will be needed if you expect us to vote for you. my next question is how much of this overthrow is based on you wanted to be #1 and hate Delaney? Why do you say you know who I am? I have never met you. I do not own a district computer. A lot of people I work with know you because you worked with them a long time ago. They all say the same thing you want to be #1.

Ha ha, I never even put myself on a ticket because I didn't want to be number 1. Nonetheless, I owe it to myself and the membership to give it my best shot at this time, to carry the occupy platform and install a program and update this union into this century.

I know who you are, the same BLUTO that i signed you out on, on the district computer in my office. I think it was on one of our usaviation mimic pages on the airtran campaign or maybe vote iam. But you told me to sign you out so stop the crap.

Item 1: You, your boss DA, and Delaney's platform seems to be 'attack nelson'. Kindly review for us exactly what negotiations experience Delaney has? As you know he has NONE, zippo, and he's been prez for 4 years now and still has absolutely no negotiations experience. I'm challenging you to show me where he has actually negotiated anything. And BTW, what happened in US AIRWAYS negotiations last week? And if you want to BS about last weeks negotiations, then you better be ready to answer some VERY hard questions.

As far as what I have negotiated. Negotiations is all about leverage. The negotiations room is only the 'image of negotiations'. Negotiations and leverage are handled and built outside the walls of the negotiations table. Starting back in '99, Freiberger brought back a BS contract that did NOT include protections for catering. I led a national campaign to shut that contract down and initiated "The Big Picture" newsletter and fought Frieberger in the Pittsburgh gazette. We shut that contract down and forced REAL negotiations that finally secured catering. Today that translates into 450 jobs.

When on the district dime, I was primarily responsible for gaining leverage and getting 3,200 non union workers a spot at the negotiations table. That is negotiations! If me and my team didn't build that leverage, there wouldn't have even been a negotiations team. As a result of that leverage, those 3,200 workers are now set for the arbitration of their seniority. I was a part of a team that led to the UA ramp win against the Teamsters and that increased our leverage against UA management. That's all part of negotiations.

The opposite of increasing leverage is losing leverage. When we gained leverage at airtran, Delaney collars them and signs a no strike clause almost immediately. When we increased leverage for UA ramp, Delaney immediately gave up that leverage and abandoned UA talks and dumped the ramp into long drawn out transition talks. At hawaiian, he lost his leverage when he finally supported managements plan to pay part timers half of full timers and to bring in the anti union ready reserve from Delta. He also lost his leverage at US AIRWAYS when he decided not to arbitrate the national attendance policy but to instead argue case by case. And he continues to lose leverage everywhere. Again, please cite his actual negotiations experience, WE WANT TO KNOW!!!!!!

regards,

Ok if you want to think I am somebody else you know there is nothing I can do. But let me get this strait YOU have never been in talks with the company yourself right? why not just admit i instead trying to place a blame on everybody else? at work we will talk and we will decide for ourselves who we want. Good luck. i will come back from time to time to let you know what peole think.

On ething you got to remember is that Delaney is or was from UA according to my union rep in my station. And from what I heard He was pretty much a straight shot winner after RC was ousted. He too was another UA guy too. Why is it that US hasntbeen able to get say 6 to 10 agents to represent the FSA whereas UA has all the ones in the world and treat US as third class citizens ont he titanic? The contract we have now I guarantee you would have never ever passed. Where is RD now? why havent we been updated? Why are all the updates constantly on UA not US???

I've been asking the same questions. How is it that USAirways are always second best. Why would any of our members not want to have a fellow member as the Pres? I'm not saying we are any better but equality would be nice.

This thread is missing the grand poobah of the IAM.With his experience he should be able to answer all things IAM

Hello brothers and sisters I hope you don't mind me jumping in a US Air forum being a UA Ramper but I am reading that people would like to know who is on the Occupy team and this may be my only venue being that I am at work most of my time and cannot travel to every station. I am Dave Paz I am running for S/T of DL 141. I like to be short and to the point. I back and support Tim Nelson and our Occupy 141 platform. I support Tim Nelson because he has proven to me that he can get union members organized and moving for a common goal I think that is a important skill to have when negotiating a contract. I am asking that you help take back this Union for the members and nominate our team. I am not happy with the job of the current leadership I strongly believe our Union could be stronger at the bargaining table. This April will mark 3 years DL 141 has been at the table with a profitable UA airline yet we still work under a BK negotiated contract. I believe that Union members need information and education and allowed to be involved in the decisions that effects our work rules or contract. I currently work as a Lead on the Ramp in ORD. I was in the USMC from '92 - 96. Got the job at UA in '97 thanks to my Dad who was a aircraft maintenance Foreman there for 42 years. I have been involved in the Union since 1998. I have been a shop steward, LL trustee, a delegate to the 2000 convention and tried to change bylaws there. I was the ORD Ramp and Stores Grievance Committeeman from 2005-2008. In my role with the GC I presented and represented many members through grievances and discipline hearings. I saved, protected and created new work at my station during my time. I believe in workers rights and have tried to educate myself enough to protect those rights. I graduated from the National Labor College in 2008. The George Meany Center - National Labor College NLC is a pro Union college which taught me that a educated Union member is a powerful weapon and that a democratic member led union is the strongest at the bargaining table. I would like to try and put what the NLC taught me into practice at our DL. I think DL 141 Union members will reap big returns if they nominate and vote for the Occupy 141 team. I am trying to keep a high road campaign and promise to only run on my record or point out the record of my opponents you will not see me write anything degrading or derogatory about any of them during this nomination process or election if nominated. Thank you for reading.

Dave I see your points but seeing you are with United, I have to ask why you folks at UAL always throw US under thebus and treat us as 3rd class citizens on the Titanic. My point is while Im sure we agree on the fact that there has got to be major changes in the IAM, but we need more of US folks in the running as RD and RC both have done absolutely nothing but continue the Canarybird acts of throwing everything out the window and coming back with trash. I would, as would many other US folks love to see a larger US present on the IAM negotioning team instead of the UAL folks. US may be smaller but darn it we are sick and tired of being the ugly duckling that has basically no say yet when we were suppose to be dead and disappeared we were resilient and made it thru, today we are a stronger airline despite issues but we are alive and well. All we ask is for us to have more members and to stop being 3rd class world citizens on the titanic.

Please expand on all 3 of these points. Thanks!

Kev in my limited role as ORD grievance committeeman the Co wanted to farm out IAM vehicle driver work I led a effort to save and protect as much of that work as I could with limited help from DL. Unfortunately now that work is shared between Union and vendor but we still have vehicle driver work at the Chicago Point. I also saved many employees from termination in discipline cases also I protected work by making sure our Contract was properly enforced through the grievance procedure. I also helped negotiate new work which was transportation of weather baggage to down-line stations with the work preformed by IAM represented Ramp.

US Air is far from 3rd class citizens or dues payers for that matter. Ive seen and read what you guys are capable of IMO you guys are hard core Unionists and I wish the UA Ramp was more like you. I do have issue with UA voting for USA AGCs but I dont mind UA or USA representing each other for contract talks because we need to bargain on a industry level. Like Tim and I stated in our leadership letter we need to change the way the Union does business including the voting process so everyone represented by DL 141 is properly represented and not made to feel like 3rd Class members. Changing how the DL conducts business will lead to a more positive and influential Union. When we clean our own house then we can start raising the bar on these Airline Industry agreements. Thats why I think its important we build solidarity on a District level. I see that solidarity being built by Tim Nelson and the Occupy 141 team. Thank you letting me speak.

FYI I have to go to a early St Pats day Party here so I will try and respond to any ?s tomorrow.

In Unity, Dave Paz
