rat tales,

Is it true what P R says that Ron was a manager at AWA?

100%

Ron was my first manager at AWA at PHX cargo. He was much beloved by everyone there and I'm certain he still is. Ron knew that AWA management was incompetent and any input by him to his bosses would be totally ignored. He decided that it would be best to leave and he drove the big rigs for Swift and Knight Transportation until he got the driving bug out of him. He returned to PHX ramp as fleet service and never looked back.

I’ve heard rumors about if Ron is or isn’t running unopposed … my only purpose in mentioning him concerning the elections is that I wanted all of you to understand that this man is not only talented , but dedicated … I want the best of everything at this company from corporate management to union leadership and It’s my personal opinion that he’s the one of the greatest union men I’ve ever meant or will ever meet . During our long ordeal here in the west to get livable wages there were times that I despaired , but knowing that we had Ron on our side always gave me hope that all was not lost .

Going forwards with men like him leading us ,we will not only grow strong as a union , but dexter ,when it’s time for us to deal with the company things will be dramatically different than what you’ve experienced all these years , we can’t lose with Ron at the helm! And don’t worry , if any of you thought he was west centered , now that we’re one united union I’m sure he’ll fight hard for each and everyone of you no matter where you are .

Sorry if I sound like I’m flattering the man , I’m just impressed with all he’s done since we became IAM …

Freedom, Finally you are talking from your heart. Your mind is and will catch up with your heart. I personally can't condone honoring anyone who was past mgmnt. Yet I can say I found respect for you in the fact you put your card's on the table about how you feel. This NEW DIRECTION TEAM has had to deal with crooked canalities or puppet's of canoli that owe him for their cushy job's. I personally know most of this team, and these people have the desire to do what is right for everyone, because they shoot straight from the heart and mind to benefit all. I do have hope for you and I know the NEW DIRECTION will do right for all!

I can answer that question for you Nevada. He isn't worth the breath it takes to say his name. Anything that you ask him is answered with "I don't know, I'll have to get back to you on that." Then he stays away from you long enough that you forget your question. Typical iam incompetence. He is truly a canale puppet on a string.

Sup RR , I agree with you about the seniority system , I was under the impression that things were date of hire , but I guess not eh ? You see that’s the way it’s always been in PHX so I don’t have a problem with it ..

As for that time table you talk about , the company put a memo out here in PHX outlining the time line and when the different changes take effect ..have you tried checking the fleet service area on the company website?

Dear b737200 … I am not management , nor do I wish to be management , I happen to like my job and I want to keep working for our airline , which means that I want our airline to continue to exist so I can continue to make money …. You may not personally LIKE Doug parker , but I think you can admit he’s good at what he does .. I used to be AWA , and if we hadn’t merged with US airways our doors would have been shut long long ago … I’m not going to get into a debate about management style with you , but those are my views and if you don’t like them then you can go load the forward bin of an A321 by yourself .

I’d like to URGE all of you to remember to VOTE FOR RON ROTH …. Ask yourselves , why is it there are incumbents who are already working with RC on the new direction team , but not RR the best union guy we have ?

Why is it these people pushing for the new direction team fight so hard against the man who is undoubtedly the most solid candidate out of ALL of the nominees or incumbents ?

Have any of the current UNION officials or people vying for union positions been suspended because they’ve fought TOO hard for the worker ? I highly DOUBT it … Ron has been suspended NUMEROUS times in defense of the worker and each time he keeps coming back , like an unrelenting force .

Ron Roth is like a union leader of old …too many people nowadays think of unions like a business ,some sort of corporate game where if you have better lawyers than the other side everything will turn out fine , but I think RR understands where the true strength of unions comes from and is not only able , but willing to wield that strength to secure the future of our union
You'll never see me loading the front bin of a 321 by myself, it will set on the gate until the
paint falls off of it. If RR was such a good leader why did he throw the westies under the bus?
Just remember, He'll be making district money, not what's on the new rag pay scale...............

do you suppose with RR a shoo in the PHX vote will be less "fishy" than last time?

Our union president gave a speech here in PHX today , I happened to catch part of it , it appears that he’s taking our union in the direction of fighting against this merger or any other merger …. He said something to the effect that it’s bad for the workers , the company is only aiming to save that proposed 1.5 billion dollars by getting rid of people , and that this company should not once again be trying to reach into our pockets to take from us ….. He said that our union economist guys had some ideas for this company about ways they could save money without merging … I heard a proposal to raise the foreign investment cap from 25% to 49% (a political solution ) … Then he also went on to talk about using our political connections in Washington to fight this using an anti monopoly slant ..He also seemed to imply that PHX could be hurt by any future merger with united … He came off to me as very intelligent and reasonable , and I even listened to him answer a few questions after the speech …

He closed by saying that a packet was being sent out in the mail and it would fill us in about this fight against mergers etc…

I think it’s great that our union leaders want to try and preserve as many jobs as possible by fighting a possible merger , but I have to wonder if it’s really a realistic route to take … Doug parker and MR T will drag both of their work forces kicking and screaming into a merger if they feel it’s the right thing for the respective companies irregardless of how our unions feel … As for putting hope for a political solution in our congress , eh , that’s all I have to say about congress … eh ….

I sure hope the information that is being sent out by our union is convincing , because right now doug parkers argument that mergers are the best way to survive is winning in my mind .. Oil keeps hitting new highs day after day … if we have to put some of our work force under the AX so that our company can survive , so be it … I know a cold view , but better a few should live than all perish .

I hope our union is working towards the “what if we merge “ scenario and making sure to look at what steps need to be taken that are fair for our workers in that kind of situation .. Maybe conducting talks with the company now to try and extend the furlough period by a few more years , and perhaps an increase to furlough compensation seeing as that times are so hard economically….

Here’s another idea , before even ONE of our fleet service workers gets kicked to the streets , perhaps we should demand that this company replace it’s service vendors with our fleet workers rather than laying off OUR people ..

Oh well , I guess I’m just a pessimist , I sure hope I’m wrong about the future .

And by voting yes on this TA the IAM practically gift wrapped the fleet service for a merger with United. Whatever happens in the west I have no sympathy for as the majority cut their own throats.

Too bad they could not find ways for us to keep the proposed then given back holidays, vacation and sick time from the TA. You say he talks about the company getting rid of people. They will do that in 2011 when the contract allows them to close all of those cities in the TA.

He came off to me as very intelligent and reasonable , and I even listened to him answer a few questions after the speech ...

From what I have seen that impressing you does not seem hard. They can always answer the questions because they are spin doctors. I have heard the head finance man tell us once that a 401k is MUCH better than a pension when the company was wanting to get rid of our pensions in lieu of a 401k. A few years later he told us that a Pension is MUCH better than a 401k when the offer was for a pension. These finance men for the union just follow the way the wind blows.

Does it matter how convincing a packet in the mail about mergers is? We really have nothing to do about them merging. We cannot stop anything and if a lot of Fleet would not even go vote on the TA, do you really think they will contact Congress?

Too bad our union didn't conduct talks to create a fair and equitable TA contract for us. If we try to open talks now to try to extend the furlough it will probably cost us our raises and the holidays we just were handed.

Here’s another idea , before even ONE of our fleet service workers gets kicked to the streets , perhaps we should demand that this company replace it’s service vendors with our fleet workers rather than laying off OUR people ...

You dare say the word DEMAND about our union? Our union does not demand anything. They can only beg for scraps like a chained up dog that has been beaten to keep it quiet and submissive.

Oh well , I guess I’m just a pessimist , I sure hope I’m wrong about the future .

Well, after the fight you gave for the TA, I would never call you a pessimist at all... Actually overly optimistic would be more like it for me.

Its statements like this that will keep us divided. Thanks BM for helping me realize that I will be axed soon. But before I go I will still have time to vote for one more vote and a campaign to vote YES FOR RANDY 2008. I believe RC really let us down with this POS TA and would have voted no but since your lousy attitude towards the west has pissed me off and the fact I won't be here much longer, I think a yes is in order. Hope to see you in the unemployment soon with RC at the helm again.

You simply amaze me .. Maybe you should have thought about all these big thoughts before you voted in your 3.00 raise. You voted to

kick our membership to the street and now you want the company to show sympathy and extend furlough and replace vendors. Sorry

freedom . In case you didn't know WE are under contract So the company will abide by our contract and there are NO protections

YOU gave all that up. Also in case you don't know US and DP want to GET RID OF US not In source lost jobs . YOU gave that up to.
