IAM Fleet Service topic

The IAM / CWA have done NADA for ground personnel in connection with TSA GROPING our groups. They probably have no clue. It is sad to say that it is now a part of our daily routine at work. It is treated as normal procedure? It is not normal and it is a violation of our Constitutional rights. They, (the US GOVT) to my knowledge needs a search warrant to grope us which they have not furnished.

It should have been visible to our Unions, repectively that the attendance (ACP) levels have gone up considerably since there are times we are late to clock in to workbrain due to GROPING. Its bad enough we wait to get on an a packed employee bus, at least 30 mins prior to clock in, stand in long lines to be groped...sometimes another 15-30 mins and then at the end of your shift sometimes stand at least 10 minutes in line to clock out as both fleet and customer service have alot of start times together.

Janitor, the answer is NO. The Unions for us have not raised the issue as of yet.

You dont need a search warrant to have you luggage checked and yourself, its security screening mandated by law. The screening process has been going on for years.

And the company is gonna tell you to leave earlier.

700 they have no right to touch some ones "junk" & if it ever happens to me they will be arrested. I will fight this thing.

What did the new contract with IAM (fleet service) and the company produces in regards to improve raises benefits and scope

John John,

The "new" contract is actually a few years old now, but in terms of scope it actually removed a fair number of smaller stations from fleet service based upon the average number of mainline flights per week during the year. If the number of mainline flights fell below that number, then the station was subject to being contracted out. In terms of the America West's TWU contract if there was even one mainline flight per week, then fleet service must handle that flight. However, (and I am trying to recall the exact numbers) the requirement dropped from 56 mainline flights per week to 34 mainline flights per week... something like that. So it was an improvement from the East contract and a major downgrade from the West contract. Which explains many of the recent ramp furloughs coming from the West side (with LAS being an exception as that was just a reduction in flights).

In terms of pay and benefits, the West did see a large improvement in pay, while it could be argued about the same in benefits given the trade-off in increased healthcare costs, but there was finally a pension for West. East saw a marginal improvement in terms of pay. I am sure that some on the board will correct me in my analysis.

In terms of a 'new new' contract, nothing has been released, or as far as I know, nothing has been negotiated.

So Reviews Jester.

Please inform me of how your are going to get a TSA employee arrested for following government mandated procedures under Federal Law?

Your the one who would be arrested and lose your SIDA badge.

Guess he hasnt figured it out, the TSA has the final authority, you can be arrested, you will lose your SIDA badge and job, and can be fined $10,000.

But hey what do I know, that is what the law says.

So that is 5 flights a day in a station can be outsourced
What is the vacation holiday/accrual? Any cost of living raises/differential/training/uniform rises? Full pay for sick calls? When is your contract amendable? Passenger Service kept the same contract with the same amendable date(2012) and negotiated a transitional agreement and withdrew the change of control grievance for some of the above.Different negotiating tactics. In the end we all should work at industry standard or above and raise the bar

Jester,

I would like to address your post on a couple of points. First off, the current agreement was negotiated by the previous IAM leadership, not the people currently in office and was ratified by the membership as a whole. Correct me if I am wrong, but the East was urging a no vote, whlie the West saw the chance for a raise and took it without reading the fine print. And I can't blame them either, I might have done the same thing. All the language was there to read over before making your decision , some people chose to read and understand only what they wanted to. The attendance policy was the same way. It was done under the old leadership. Whether you voted yes or no is a moot point now. The membership voted for this P.O.S. agreement and we are all stuck with the sub-par language. You can say yes to the agreement just for the money and then say it's all the unions fault on the outsourcing language. We voted it in, as a collective. Now I am sure that you will have a lengthy response fro this, but the fact remains, the West and the Smaller Class 2 stations carried this vote. It was decided two years ago, let it go already. But I get it, you will never be happy with the union, it's all their fault mentality, you will never be happy with the company, and IMHO you would cut your nose off to spite your face, and then try to say it was not your fault.

So Opines the Irish

I agree with you PJ there was absolutely no reading on part of the WEST all they wanted was that raise, a raise at the cost of outsourcing 12 cities and that is guaranteed which is why I cant feel for those on that side when they start closing cities after the contract is up. given the mgmts past history at US it is a given but just a matter of time before the remainder of those cities close shop

Ahh....The TA.....its a done deal, voted on and ratified.
You gotta let it go.....
The ACP was a closed door deal with certain Union leaders and US Labor, perhaps over a BB-Q at HDQ. Now its time to make the best of what ya got and hope to improve the new CBA coming up. I suggest EVERYONE VOTING THIS TIME. 😀 DEX

My Dearest Mr. Roabilly,

I am certain you only meant "S&W" only as a brand of canned food... I counted five...

Go ahead....take my play.

So Humors Jester.

P.S. Hope the deep fried bird worked well for you and yours this Thanksgiving.

I've been reading the banter back and forth and nothing changes. The same old crap everyday. The fact is we will never be a united group. East against West, West against East. Two totally different cultures that never seem to agree other than we are and will continue to get screwed. We continue to show the company that we are not unified. It continues to boggle my mind that we turned down one contract and then agreed to a POS that was overwhelmingly worse. I will be retired before we get a new contract and am s-o-o-o-o-o-o glad of that. I can't go thru another round of bull#### and bickering and crying and whining. I guarantee that you all will sign the first piece of crap that they bring you. NO BALLS NO BLUE CHIPS! I hope for all of you that this is not true but history repeats itself especially with our work group. One last point I would like to make before I slip back to obscurity, AMERICA WEST IS NO LONGER! GOT THAT.......AMERICA WEST IS NO LONGER. My wife just came back from Phoenix and she said that once the agents found out she was a very senior (original US Airways) employee she was never treated so nasty. Get over it people! We are all US Airways whether you like it or not. After saying that I sincerely hope that all of you have a Merry Christmas and a safe and prosperous New Year. All of you East and West!
