Given all you said Tim, $18 an hour is a fair offer.
How can you make a statement like that? It's going to be hard for you to live on ramp pay after living it up on the 100,00 your used to making. Goldenram(ROD) your not locked into that job, you can be voted out.
I will campaign to see you loose your agc seat in the upcoming elections. Your arrogance is intollerable.
When you visited our station , i was impressed with the quality of your clothing, even though
your up too xxl sizes now. ( too much steak and lobster)

This is one of the most asinine statements I have seen on here in a while. Tim gives us facts about what others doing the same job as we are getting paid. Then instead of supporting us you turn around and continue to be a company mouth piece and insult everyone on here by saying that we should continue to be one of the lowest paid in the industry. The company is making record profits and you have the audacity to say $18 is a fair offer. Stand up for us or welcome back to our world. BTW the average bag weight has gone up a little.

Everybody who knows this guy, PLEASE let everyone know who he is, and what he is saying so we can get rid of this JACK A@@ once and for all. Not everybody reads this forum, but everyone should know who he is and what he thinks we are worth.

Yeah $18/hr is fair.

With 5 weeks paid vacation.
With FREE health benefits.
With double time.
With shift differential.
With mathching 401k.
NEED I GO ON???????

You'll live it soon enough back on the ramp.
Have fun.

Pit,

Put down the pipe, you are high if you think you can get that from US.

You never cease to amaze me.............every thread, every forum, you have the knowledge and the crystal ball. Look into the ball and see if in the up coming elections you see a new AGC from PHL
named Frankie O. I can feel the earth moving now!

Have you been across the table negotiating with US?

With Glass and Hemenway?

I have, no union on the property is in a position of power at this time during negotiations, if any of them are, they would have a new CBA all ready.

I have been a member of the NC, have you?

Honestly, I have never been on the NC, Glass is no longer here. What you lack to realize is the company wants a transition agreement, and if there is any changes to the CBA , we vote. That's what we have, a vote.
Parker wants it and if he wants it bad enough he'll and some spice to the soup. By no means are we backed into a corner. The district wants to settle to secure thier fat paychecks, not worried about our's.
We may not have the power, but we can delay what Parker wants === transition agreement ===

Not meaning to stir the pot.

But Tim, what strength does the union have vs the company?

Myself I see none at this time.

You are not in a position of power at the table.
Then why are we at the table at all? It's a legit question, I mean why did the company immediately schedule new transition talks? I thought Canale said the last TA was either to vote for the new TA or wait till 2010? We knew that was a lie. Canale isn't stupid, he's just protecting his own interest at the United Airline Board of Directors as he tried to manufacture consent. He learned a 'painful' lesson and he will be better off retiring so he can collect his IAM watch, as opposed to being thrown out of office and kicked back up to management where he belongs with Jerry Glass.

The alternative is to believe that new negotiations have been scheduled because Parker is a nice fella and wants to give us something in the 7th year of jubilee!

The truth is that Parker is at the table because he needs something, that something is called a transition agreement. How much is it worth to him? Fleet serivice isn't his $20 whore that Boss Pimp tells him it is. Fleet service will give Parker his reward for another 'cheap, arrogant and offensive' TA. It will also give Canale his reward...'soon enough'... for his constant whoring with the company.
Screw transition and fleet service won't 'allow' Parker to have his transition until a TA with dignity and respect is achieved first. Sorry Doug, better luck with the stews.

The environment has changed and it is no longer in the bankrupt environment but a prosperous one that includes merger related 'activity'. Analyst have said that US AIRWAYS needs to settle labor strife before it can become a player in the upcoming mergers. Unless there is a contract with dignity and respect, labor strife will be alive and well with workers who are 'pissed off like hell'. Unfortunately, company housekeeping matters have apparently already spilled over into the media according to the PHX papers.

Glass and who? All I see are 8,000 brothers and sisters who are unified, 'pissed off like hell, want blood, and don't want to take any prisoners. The masses are pissed, angry and some have been provoked to hate. And I see a company coming to them for something. You gotta be kiddn me?

That's the environment. Bottom line.

700, you and the other former IAM negotiators give me the creeps how you are already beaten when you leave the table and come back to the members and say 'Lions, Tigers, and Bears...Oh my". Your ignorance and arrogance is only bettered by your constant belittling perception of the masses.

jester,
you made some very valid points on your post. but forgot 1 very important one . and that is

no matter how careful and safe you work . it is invietable that you will suffer debilitating injurys if you stay in this business 15- 20 years

example . torn rotator cuff / disc problems in your back. / tendenitace in your elbows . / blown knees .

so having said that how much is that worth having to deal with that kind of pain and suffering the rest of your life.

kinda like a athlete get as much as you can now . cause once it goes it goes . and to find gainful employment with damaged goods

is very hard to do.
