"Have you been across the table negotiating with US?

With Glass and Hemenway?"

dear God, Hemenway was a former ramper from psa. He was Crelin's B*tch for many moons

you act like your dealing with Wolfe or someone . PPlleeeeeaase

Goldenram needs to be tested for Koolaid. He is a danger to himself and the ones he represents.

I am constantly amazed at the post of certain individuals. When even by their own admission they do not have a dog is this fight. It must be a feeling of self importance to constantly stand on your soap box and talk about all the great jobs they have done in the past with the union. The "fact" is you should be ashamed of yourself for not supporting your "former" brothers and sisters in our struggle. You say that this is a public forum and it is your right. No arguement there. Instead of being another company or IAM spokesman how about stepping up and helping our cause. By doing so you might actually gain a little true respect instead of the perceived repect the the soap box gets you.

Not meaning to stir the pot.

But Tim, what strength does the union have vs the company?

Myself I see none at this time.

You are not in a position of power at the table.

I also believe that this was a good question. Although everyone has concluded
that section 6 for the west is worthless everyone would admit that 2009 section
six for the east is worth something. Doug knows this is coming up. And even
if it took 5 years from start to finish Doug knows what it will end up costing
him. So he wants a contract. and the longer the better.

Glass is a paid consultant at US, he is still there.

Jester: I agree that your points are good. But that leaves out
some other considerations. Here's one: you say that we deserve what
the market will bear and that the union skews that unfairly. But I
say the unionized workers are part of the "market" just like non-
unionized workers are.

A lot of people are quik to point out our reality. But the company has
a reality also. When Parker merged US and HP he could have told
the east pilots what thier seniority would be. It would have made things
a lot simpler for him. But because he was afraid to deal with the
implications of that and mabey because of some advice from the US side
he let the groups battle things out for themselves.

The east ramp is compleatly different than the west. It's a career..you can
buy a house etc. Parker knew this and did not expect the east to work
for anything less than around the $20 range. I was talking to a Pit
ramper and his attitude was the TA wasn't even close. And that attitude
came with the belief that the COC had no chance.[this was in Nov]

So Parker has his reality too. And the most powerful thing the ramp has
right now is the ability to vote a mediocre TA down. Thanks BF

The point is that whether or not some eastie is living in La La Land is not
the question. The point is they live where they live and no one's going to
change that.

I personally believe this is worth fighting for and even taking risks. But here
is where I will defer to the interests of the group as a whole.

I dont know..Parker has clearly stated that "we dont need a ramp with 20 years experience" makes me believe whatever contract comes out is not going to be a very pretty one.

No experience is why we are last in lost luggage and on time performance. Short term emp's just don't
care. When Parker figures out the equation then you will see a turn around in DOT stats.

Ask ALPA, he is directly involved in their negotiations and the AFA.

I have contacted Ford and Harrison for confirmation.

And the tenured folks have shown such a willingness to step up and do a better job?

Parker thinks he doesn't need experience because the general perception is that we just throw bags. Anyone can do that, right? Wrong. Inexperience and the new guys "its just a crappy job" attitude are why we consistently repeat the same mistakes that cause delays, missed bags, equipment damage and injury. There is no big picture view, and very little forethought. One glitch in the operation and we have a delay, folks. The inexperienced workers haven't yet learned to automatically react, putting more pressure on the senior (babysitters) agents to "handle it". I'll take one old fart over three new guys any day, because he will automatically react when things get a little out of routine. The low pay and poor working environment means the senior guys are burnt out, and most of our new hires are working two jobs and not caring about any. I am not a senior agent, but have been around long enough to see the changes when we keep losing our experienced workers. Not good at all.

Very sharp assessment for a newbe .....Welcome to the board.

My point was that's what hes got and thats what he signed on for. If as you say
the contract comes out and it's not pretty I hope it's voted down. I doubt if
what I want will happen. But I'm willing to make sacrifices that a lot are not willing
to make.
