I am very excited about this new service. It has been a big gap in the network, and it is about time. It will go to 5 weekly services on 16 June 2005.

Also, here's a look at potential new Miami routes. Just rumours, not confirmed, though, as I've mentioned, Dayton and Memphis are pretty set for December:

Mainline:
Kansas City - 1x S80
San Diego - 1x 738
Phoenix - 1x 757
Grenada - 1x 738
Antigua - 1x 738
Valencia, Venezuela - 1x 738
Providence - 1x M80
Brussels - 1x 763
Seattle - 1x 757

Eagle:
Austin - 1x ER4
San Antonio - 1x ER4
Birmingham - 2x ERD
Greensboro - 1x ERD
Ottawa - 1x CR7
Dayton - 2x ERD
Memphis - 2x ERD
Norfolk - 1x ER3

Just rumours, nothing set in stone. All of them, IMO, could work and offer great potential. And of them, only Seattle, Valencia, Memphis and Phoenix have non-stops to MIA (while Providence and Ottawa only have non-stop flights to FLL).

This is a very saturated market. I have been to Bermuda 4 times, twice on Destroyer Escorts, twice on cruises, Celebrity and Royal Carribean.

On the USS Snyder I slepped in a hammock. Cruise ships are better.

Personally, I think the place is over-rated as a tourist spot.

Captain Ed, I don't think two DE port calls sleeping in a hammock and two cruise stops qualifies you to comment on the island as a "tourist spot".

As an airline pilot I am sure you were highly qualified. I enjoyed reading your description of landing the L1011 in 0° ceiling and visibility in another thread.

But not having spent any nights ashore means you are "unrated" as an advisor on BDA. In fact, you haven't yet soloed. So please spare us your gratuitous thoughts on the island as a travel destination.

You lose your credibility in comments on matters you would contribute knowledge and informed opinion!

I have to say that I think Bermuda is beautiful. I think its the best Island we fly to outside of the hawaiian islands. Its probably the most well kept island in the Carib. Pricey yes but well worth it.
