Mike's Fired Up-US AFA LABOR THREAD

Hate to burst your HOT AIR balloon, but I'm on furlough. You know what that means???

Honey I'm sure I don't have to tell you how many at US AFA would simply come UNGLUED if you walked back on the property. Sweet mother Mary I'd LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to see the day. Nobody can hold a candle to your passion and intelligence. Some will say as they must but it's just blah, blah, blah. Action honey speaks louder than words and there is no action to speak of here. It's like the blind leading the blind.

The sad truth about union work is that it is usually thankless and not nearly worth the aggravation.

For example, while I understand that Pitbull dislikes JM, I do like him and I'm not one of the senior mamas. I think he's professional, deals with the data well and refrains from the hyperbole that we've seen in previous LECs. I think that the company respects him because he deals with them by trotting out the bare minimum protections we have left in the contract. It's also in the best interests of PHL F/As that he have civil relations with Inflight, so that's why the "letter writer" days are gone. Also, I knew him as just a F/A and I know his work ethic. I also know that he is taking a big paycut being LEC, but he is choosing to do it. I don't know anything about B, but if he's even half effective, he's probably worth keeping.

Yes, I think they should fufill the minimum hours in the office. At the same time, I know they take a lot of calls on personal time, and apparently out of base calls. Anybody want to do that? Not me, thanks. And there's the rub, despite the enduring misery of the reserves, they haven't coughed up a bright individual who wants to dedicate the time and brain power necessary to match Pitbull's acumen. Even if they did, getting elected is tough because the senior mama's vote and pretty much determine who wins.

The thing is, we NEED the great minds such as Pitbull's, but does anyone blame them for not wanting to deal with the nonsense? Pitbull took a furlough for a reason. If we get her back, I for one will cheer, but I would bet that being at the bottom of the seniority list and on LTO would take some serious consideration.

I'm willing to give union leaders some slack, because I don't want the job. The pension's gone, AFA is basically a money feeder to CWA and absent a new contract functions only to try to mitigate the damage of this one. I guess my expectations are pretty low, but honestly what really can be done?

I think a lot of F/As have already taken their future into their own hands outside US, or they're just waiting to retire.

Flight Attendants deserve to have a 100 % thats what Buddy and the whole lot of them should give us. Why do we have to wait for anyone. Dream on it would be nice for teddy to come back but times have changed . The only person who should negotiate a Contract is someone who plans or is forced to stay on the property. What a shame it has come to this but if you never have to see them sweat you are just too removed.......

I thought all the vol and invol furloughed FAs were forced back last year.

Nope, not all forced back.

Though I don't always agree with Teddy, I'd like to see her back.
AFA NEEDS her back.

Can you imagine Teddy at a "crew news session"? Hell she'd have people piddling in their pants. Oh what fun it would be to watch.

I think it would be GREAT to see Teddy at a crew room meeting with Mr. Parker would he get the message I really do not know. She would really have to reel him in. On another bright spot Buddy the vanishing Brannon showed up at the La Guardia Base meeting that our Buddy putting on his big man pants. Go get them BB! and so did Ann Crowley taking up the sword to defend her honor. Glad she found how to get to LaGuardia.

I would love to see Teddy back on the property. I think we need leadership and a backbone to return to the union!!!!

Ok this has been brought up before but I MUST ask again. With all of the different topics that happen to fall under "AFA MEMBERS" how in HELL are you to discuss anything with post after post a response to something asked a page ago. It's ridiculous. I believe that most feel the same. I understand you can't have a new thread started for every little topic out there but my God. You can't even have a genuine debate or read the AFA thread about a single topic without being forced to read through posts that have nothing to do with what your looking for. The vploa thread that was closed......so if your looking for some possible help from a fellow f/a your to read through all of that junk? 🙄

I agree. This forum has really changed and it is very difficult to stay on topic.

PITBull- Keep up the spirit. Respond to some other topics. Hell I know AFA LECs can't stand that you are even on the radar! Give them HELL....with a bow.

Ok here is something AFA related. Did John not say in the last Local 70 meeting two weeks ago that he would write an E-line? Ummmm does it take that long to pump something out? Oooooookie Dokie. 🙄

To me...McCorkey is just a fraud.

The contract agreement does not allow any LECP or union leader to collect 105 or 108 International pay if those f/as while on the line were not "red circled" in at 105. Corkey was on reserve when he was elected in office, and I know for a FACT that he did not sign up for 105 pay when the "window" was opened for f/as to sign up for 105...which means they would have had to EXCEED their line and fly extra hours because they HAD to come in at 105. if you missed flying 100-105 in two given months, you were removed from the list.

I know this because I KEPT THE LIST TO ENSURE that because of the ETB, that f/as were NOT flying company time over their schduled block hours. The ETB was mostly negotiated for reserves to gets some flying time in and removing the options would fuel ETB, since LTO is such a disaster for the group. Now you have union reps taking ETB trips and go way above the 105.

If any f/a asks any LECP regarding this list; they will tell you the truth, that McCorkey was NOT red circled. Therefore, someone worked out a deal with him and the company to receive it. McCork actually brought this up at an MEC meeting when he first got elected if Mike F. could go to the company and ask if he could be paid "company flight pay loss of 105..knowing he was not red circled.

Negotiations never included any proivision to permit or allow for future union leader to increase their block line to 105 company flight pay loss just because they became a union officer. If you weren't "red circled"; then you CAN't become red circled later on... These are the facts.

When I come back on the property, I will ensure that this is stopped and run for this jack ass seat.

Anyone who defends him; defends the company interceding on his behalf; when NO LIEN F/A can do this.

The guy is making about $100,000 a year with ETB trips. He has his cell phone paid for; meal expense from AFA union budget...is he really worth all that as a union rep?????? PHL f/as have to ask themselves that.
He has more budeted money than any other LECP and more help...So, what does he do???? Who argues the f/as cases with the supervisors???? His grievance rep???? You and I both know that McCork would not being flying 105 plus taking ETB trrips if he were a line f/a year after year after year. He's not the picture of "health" either. The guy hardly worked at all when he was ON the line.

He was on dependability for years; and almost got his ### fired a couple of times. Hell, he was on dependability when he went out on furlough for a year.

He's a lost cause and the company knows "they have him".

Union work is a thankless job many times...when you take the seat you shouldn't become wealthy from taking advantage of the autonomy. Not only because your senioritydoes not allow you to fly it, but the contract was not negotieated for union reps who get elected to be become wealthy from being elected to a seat in the union. Specifically in light of the fact that these are concessionary contracts! This practice of John's needs to stop and it should not be permitted. One should question why the company allowed him to do this and get paid this...specifically when the guy was to be fired years prior.

The only thing I can sum up is that they have silenced this panzy.

I bring this issue up again and again...because I don't want you folks to forget it. It just cannot be allowed, and the company should be pressured and so should the MEC to stop this.

I can tell you this...If these jerks end up pulling Buddy out of office for stupidity and act as a diversion from the real f/a issues at hand...
I will make it my mission to come back to U as a LODO, yank these two yo -yos Mike F. and McCork right out of office, by running for PHL seat. Give Dougie a run for his money...and CHAOS the hell out of them.

And call it a day.
