Cleary, Bradford, Hummel, Streble, Mowrey, Bowen, King, the entire original BPR, McKee, Crimi, DeWitt....none of them would have done what just happened today, selling out the founder to a West Vote. Only the scum led by the likes of DiOrio, Frear, Sye, Glynn, Borman, etc and their ilk would have ever, ever agreed to recall Bradford, one of the least political and morally perfect pilots in our ranks. Shame on those traitors and their act today. Shame on them and their supporters. You are part of that group Hate, and I will never forget. RR

Thanks, but not necessary EOA. You email is eerily like one I got from my rep the day after he voted away my pension. I will tell you the same thing I told him, the only thing that means anything is the vote cast.
 
Here we are, on the eve of our win with Silver, starting seniority talks on Tuesday with the APA, and our own BPR votes for a recall on Bradford. This "deal" with PHX was cut beforehand, obvious from watching the proceedings. After all we have been through, Bradford stood by our junior guy harmed by the NIC and made it his professional life's work to get this union running, even coming back again to get it back on the tracks and get us the largest raise we have had in decades. And they recall him. Some thanks. I am ashamed especially of Bob Frear, with the number "1" as his USAPA number, the guy originally handed the golden ticket and put on the NAC. He quit on us then, and he just quit on us again.

OK. Forget the pm. Here's the deal. You are naive to think Bradford and King weren't political early when we were in Charlotte. They picked Mark Thorpe as VP without any consultation from those of us "volunteers" and he retired shortly thereafter the move to the offices on South Blvd. was completed. Steve and I went to lunch together shortly after that happened and he had "political" reservations about Cleary from day one. Say what you want about Cleary but Steve couldn't hold a candle to Mikes organizational skills. Bill McKee was chosen for BPR Charlotte rep interim over me because of his former ALPA representation and status with being a Captain. Bill is the one who put in the EVP position at the last minute and caused what is now the main problem USAPA has had all along: Ciabbatoni/Hummel "do what I want" mentality. Bill made a huge mistake and doomed him from the President position by his own making.

I can verify all of this with those who were there when we started it. In fact, one name I'll mention is Scott Theruer. I don't know where Scott is and I wish him well but if there is ever a person besides me who know the political inner workings of the start it was him.

Steve Bradford was not then and is not now one who has the ability to lead and run any organization. He got his "votes" by his name, not his deeds. Union heavy lifting was always done by others he just got the credit and it went to his head. Say what you want about Cleary but it was clear every moment of the day where he stood and he let everyone know it. The question is at this juncture in time and effort for recall the "damage" is done and the seniority fight, IMHO, will go to the Supreme Court. Just my two cents.

Well, sure it's old news.  I never said it wasn't.  But my post was a response to someone who indicated that he/she would be content with the widebodies we have (as opposed to getting anything from the AA side.)  My response simply reminded that we will NOT long have the wide body numbers we have  when the POR is signed on Monday.
 
As far as support, to me it's about fairness.  Of course, fairness, like beauty, is always in the eye of the beholder.  ALPA policy was unfair in my eyes, which are the only ones I have to see through.

I am very puzzled and disappointed that Bradford was named in the recall effort.  I would be very pleased to see him as union president again.  Although I never met the man, he does come across just as you describe him.

Actually, what you describe is the mark of an outstanding leader.  The boss isn't supposed to do the "heavy lifting."  The boss is supposed to direct the team to do that work.  The ability to delegate is one reason I think Bradford is so successful, and doesn't have the reputation of dictator/tyrant as we have occasionally seen from his successors.   Maybe my memory is incorrect, but when Steve was union president, we never seemed to have the level of divisiveness that we cultivated once new personalities were leading the organization.

Of course it will be a loss, but I guess I always knew the 76s would eventually be replaced.  Both airlines have scheduled retirements of all types of aircraft.  Where they take the snapshot (I think that is an ALPA merger term) might tell the tale.  As I have said, I think the only speedbump we will have with APA will be over the distribution of WB flying between East and APA.  The West is not an issue, APA is already on board with us, the West brings nothing.  RR
