1) It was the negotiators' fault to ever send this to arbitration.

It was the east MC's fault to not strike Nicolau early in the process. Nicolau is a one-trick pony, and the day it was announced that he would arbitrate I accurately predicted the outcome. Simply looking at his Shuttle award broadcast the outcome of the East-West integration.

Oddly, the clueless east MC committee felt they had scored a coup by getting Nicolau to hear the case. I attended one meeting where Kirch stated (paraphrase): "We are happy with Nicolau because we had a good relationship with him during the Shuttle arbitration." The arbitration was over before it started, IMHO.

No question. That brilliant stroke of not only not dismissing him, but afterwards showing enthusiasm for him removed any last, possible doubts as to the collective "intelligence" of that little brain trust right there.

??? Once the merger committee DID NOT come off of Date of Hire (per your MEC's instruction) during merger negotiations and then mediation, you were LOCKED into the agreed upon process. That's the part where all parties sign on the dotted line and PROMISE to ABIDE by the arbitrators decision (as it is both final and binding).

Hey, did you hear about the investment bankers that interview last month? The first one happened to work for the former US Air during the most recent bankruptcy. When asked how soon US Air would have come OUT of bankruptcy, he stated emphatically that they would NOT have. PHL DDA Parella for Gilles attempted to correct the banker, that there was financing available. He corrected her: US Air was going out of business save for the funding / acquisition by America West Holdings.

USAPA's the name! Delay is the (only) game!!

"was" I suppose there's no point in noting that it didn't. If you're in that desperate a need to justify your self-righteous, greedy BS, and astonishing sense of personal entitlement; why not just claim that all your mothers initially thought you were both cute and adorable? That might as least be somewhat plausible, and would color you in a far better light than your unbelievably infantile videos do. 😉

No personal entitlement. Just keeping our word, and forcing you to do so legally. SYIC-A gramps.

Update for November 15, 2012: Recall Organizing Committee Charlotte Facts vs. CLT Domicile Rep Updates‏

Update for November 15, 2012

Quick Fact #240: Should the pilots hold the CLT Rep’s accountable for their updates and actions that are normally an assertion or manifestation of words, which are not in accordance with the facts? Would the CLT pilots be better off with Reps who provide accurate information or ones that have not provided the pilots with any economic benefit in almost 5 years?

"No personal entitlement." = My arse. Why else even make ANY issue of the relative financial shape of the two sick pigeons at the time of the supposed "merger"...except to proudly wave the fantasy-flag that ANY of you personally did other than doodly-squat to "save" anybody?...?....? How very "noble" of you indeed, to apparently have personally "saved" so many....and how fitting for denizens of Fantasyland in general. 😉

"Just keeping our word,.." How very "noble" of you yet again, especially the part where that "nobility" necessitates gleefully skipping yourselves decades ahead of people who've worked far longer than yourselves. I've sometimes struggled to even imagine how it is that some of you could ever initially manufacture, much less actually believe, all of the self-serving and utterly preposterous BS you post here....Perhaps it just naturally goes along with the "spartans" fantasy childishness, and all such nonsense that's since followed.

"SYIC-A gramps." No you won't kid. Just the combined smell of lawyers and courtrooms adversely effects both my nostrils and digestion.

Earnings, Crew News & FAA's New Hours of Service Information

Today US Airways issued a travel advisory to Tel Aviv and the "the price of oil rose Wednesday on new concerns about possible supply disruptions in the Middle East after Israel launched airstrikes in Gaza."

In addition, Doug Parker announced in the November 17 Crew News that Superstorm Sandy that devastated the northeast cost US Airways tens of millions of dollars in lost revenue and that passenger traffic is now soft in New York. It is unclear if the reduced traffic to New York is short-term or will be a longer term, when business traffic will return, and how this will effect the company's revenues/profits.

Separately, the November 17 Crew News F/A session had extremely informative discussions on the new Pilot Rest Rules, Schedules and FAA Rules, Examples of Flight Attendant Scheduling, Co-pairing and FAs and Pilots, US Network, and Co-pairing and Joint Contracts.

The new FAA Hours of Service (Crew Rest) rules are scheduled to be implemented on January 4, 2014, but US Airways may move up the implementation date so the change does not occur during the holiday season.

Some interesting tidbits include:

- The new rules may preclude back-to-back transatlantic flying and doubling up on ODANs (On Duty All Nighters).

- ODANs could be turned into 2-day trips or may not flown any more.

- ODANs cannot be done contiguously.

- The new rules will force pilots to be away from base 1.5 days/month more than now for the same amount of pay.

- There will be an increase in 4 day trips.

- If the F/As had approved either of their TAs they would not be subject to these pilot problems, but co-pairing on the East along with the new FARs have created an "unintended consequence."

- US Airways and the industry is seeking FAA rule clarification before implementing changes.

I believe every flight crew member should listen to both the Pilot and FA session for updates on important job/career information. To watch the webcasts click on the following hyperlink:

Agreed 320, EVERYONE should watch BOTH crew news videos from CLT last week. I love our "own" guy Mayer reading the riot act to the F/As, as if they have something to gain by leaving the pilots (and we all know that is a done deal.) No more all nighters, another 1-2 days out on the line to get time..all correct. But what Chip (Mayer) was not saying is just how BAD the duty days could look for F/As going forward without being paired with pilots. But I digress, it is not my venue to correct or direct the F/As how to act or vote..they have always done better than the pilots at U!What will be the most interesting to watch is how US Airways middle management acts in the coming days. Word on the street from the UCC is if you cannot get along with labor, your days are numbered.Greeter

Don't recall if I posted this before, but the CLT recall has been a done deal for over a week. The pilots involved are now simply going for the "kill.' They have more than enough votes. This is not about what good guys the CLT reps might be, and especially about their intents. Simple matter is they are not paying attention, and have not provided the membership with both sides of the issues.Watching McKee at the last meeting, floundering at even a basic understanding of the BK process was embarrassing to all, considering he has been through it twice. Not a bad rep, just a ( sorry) dumb one.Greeter

That is funny! Take your kill shot, I believe your problem is they don't agree with "your side of the issue"! Here is a little "UNBIASED FACT" pg 2 is very informative! http://www.thestreet.com/story/11766429/2/a-fact-of-life-phoenix-would-lose-jobs-in-usairwaysamr-merger.html

If the recall goes forward, what is the exact timeline? Who will replace them? What experience will the new reps bring to the position? How long before CLT has a fully functioning BPR which is up to speed on all the issues and fully adept at dealing with the CP on one hand and union politics on the other?

The current reps have postured in the past, but they also respond to pressure from membership. The MOU is a good example. In the beginning they made vague threats about being a 'firewall' and not allowing the document to be voted on by the pilots. But after strong feedback they changed their position. I wanted to vote on the MOU and told them so - but whether I voted yes or no would have been my decision.

Events are happening fast. The original MOU and APA Term sheet are rapidly becomming irrelevant.

Not sure this is the right time to change horses.
