US Etops 757 in New Livery/ Q & A

Usually, a livery will grow on me. But.... maybe this one has, except the typeface (which I used to like) just doesn't work on this scheme. It's too small. And, of course, I recommend changing the logo.

I think it's the best we've ever had! So far, it seems to look good on every plane I've seen it on. That's rare.

where is that thing parked? it looks like its sitting in an abandoned lot in west philly! lol its great they got these planes even if they are in that boring paint scheme. lets get more transatlantic going!!!!

hey american takes the 757 to man england all coach. so at least we will still have f/c seats . these flt the a/c are being used for are not that long anyway. it's like going to the west coast from phl.
Actually AA flies their regular 757s with 22 f/c seats on BOS-MAN, BOS-SNN. Sells the whole plane as coach, just like US is doing with their 757s.

DL is doing the same thing this summer with 8 764's between ATL and JFK and various European destinations. They did not have time to convert the aircraft from a domestic to International config so sold as all coach with all coach service and top FF's put in the F cabin. This was publically announced prior to US getting these 757's and may have influenced US mangement to do this copy cat (AA and DL) move. DL plans on converting these aircraft to an International configuration during the off season later this year, I do not believe AA is making changes, feel free to correct me any AA folks reading this !

I am confused. The by-laws for Star membership state that all member carriers must have premium service on ALL MAINLINE flights. How are we getting out of this one for our European service this summer? Will they not be Star codeshared flights?

You're not confused, you're misinformed. That's simply not true. There is no stipulation requiring Star carriers to have premium service. uniTED, for one, is all coach and - contrary to what people say - it is the same airline(UAL), operated with the same crews, operating with UA flight numbers. There are other carriers in Star that have some mainline flights operated without a premium cabin, as well.

thank you for clarifying this. i do not know where people are getting that you need a premium f/c product in order to become a member of the star alliance.

Probably hoping an outside entity could force the powers that be to offer a product everyone serving it could be proud of......

I'll have to tell my friend at Star in FRA that she's wrong then. I was in the headquarters of Star in late FEB and was told by several there that US could not operate new trans atlantic service with only a coach configuration under the Star flag.

That may be the "loophole" - these planes will apparently have "first class" similiar to our domestic product so are not "only coach configuration". We'll only charge coach fares since they don't have a typical TA f/c configuration, and upgrade FF's to the front.
