I'm beginning to think that the best prediction is: the biggest losers will be the ones that post here with the most glee.
Stock is going down fast today down almost 20% also UAL lays off 950 pilots http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/080623/united_pilots.html
Not to change the subject, but....Why the red stapler?
Well, we knew it was coming. I really have to feel remorse for any and all who are involuntarily put on the street. Our own 300 and now this. But then again, some may be choosing to be out of work voluntarily. HHmm.
Indeed...with this carrier looking to furlough, the gangbangers are raising their hands?Well, we knew it was coming. I really have to feel remorse for any and all who are involuntarily put on the street. Our own 300 and now this. But then again, some may be choosing to be out of work voluntarily. HHmm.
FWIW. In CLT last week the DCA CP said there were about 100 voluntary furloughs stepping up. I hope that will lessen the impact some. But then again, you never know til it happens. Lots of people change their minds at the last minute.I am right on the cusp of furlough this round. Depending on VOL's, I will wind up on the 190, which I can't afford to be on...so I may have to leave anyway. After just being back online for 1 month from FUR.
It may actually be higher than 950. This article in the Chicago Tribune says they are sending furlough letters to 1450 pilots:

My prayers are with all in this horrible business. Glad my kids are doing something else.
Yep, I know...I've heard the same from the CLT CP..and apparently the PHL CP too...FWIW. In CLT last week the DCA CP said there were about 100 voluntary furloughs stepping up. I hope that will lessen the impact some. But then again, you never know til it happens. Lots of people change their minds at the last minute.
I would have stayed where I was if I had known this was around the corner. At least I could pay the bills.
What a travesty...by my figures, I'm about 20-30 out of holding a 73 after this FUR...(currently on the bus) if we get that many VOL's, I may be able to stay.
