So will Nic stand? By contract and commitment it had to be voted in to take effect. A new joint contract under ALPA must be passed by both sides individually. That was under their rules. We are/were considered separate until it passed. The NMB usurped ALPA rules and commitments by issuing the single system ruling and subsequent certification of USAPA. Does that modify the separate ratification? My "Best guess?" Yes it does. I think you will find most courts are very reluctant to meddle in internal union policies.

Bingo, thanks for stating that, AAA. That's where we are.

Mtnman928 since you have so bravely picked the standard up off of the field please feel free to respond to all of the arguments:

Why is it not a windfall for east furloughees to take west jobs?

How does this demonstrate the superiority of DOH methodology?

Why are jumpseat denials surely to be vigorously pursued by management while three engine taxi is a sure fire way to bend the company to USAPA's will and the company is impotent to take action?

Anything? Anything at all? Another personal attack perhaps?

What is a windfall for the east? The planned furloughs? We are two separate ops when it comes to the pilots. Thus, each group is dealt with separately.

DOH methodology with appropriate conditions and restrictions protects the LAS/PHX pilots. It also assures the east pilots their wide body flying and attrition. What is unfair with that? We don't want your flying, the problem is that you want the east flying, which has been very evident with comments made on this board.

I do not know what you are referencing with the 3 engine taxi. Denying a jumpseat to a east pilot because the west has more furloughs is ineffective, childish and unprofessional.

I hope that clears it up.

USAPA UPDATE
June 26, 2008

1. Yesterday in CLT, a TSA Inspector in plain cloths, piggy-backed behind a US Airways Captain as she was passing thru the Universal Access System (UAS) door. Once on the other side of the doorway, she was cited for violating the UAS Security protocol which instructs crewmembers to secure the door behind them, not allowing any secondary or "piggy-back" person access thru the door.

TSA checks such as these are ongoing, as-is the actual threats to our security. To keep the UAS Door in CLT and for our own safety, use extreme vigilance when passing thru the UAS Door. Prior to opening the door, always ascertain that no one is in a position to piggy-back on your entry into the secured area and follow all the directions posted. In no case should anyone pass thru the door with you.

2. The Delta and Northwest Pilots' Joint Negotiating Committee has reached a tentative agreement with Delta management on a joint contract that will cover nearly 12,000 pilots when the airlines combine in 2009.

Next, the two pilot groups will attempt to reach an agreement on a merged seniority list. It was reported that a process was established with the goal of achieving a single pilot seniority list by merger closing.

Many press reports have noted the stark difference between the US Airways/America West merger and the Delta/Northwest Merger. Delta Management’s wisdom in agreeing to pay raises and parity for all pilots from day one seems to be paying big dividends for Delta as compared to the disparate pay and working conditions that have continued here at US Airways for 33 months.

3. The Merger Committee is releasing an Update on their current work, along with a request that all pilots hired January 1, 2007 and later make certain that USAPA has their correct contact information.

Merger Committee Update
June 25, 2008

The Merger Committee met in Charlotte last week to work on multiple projects. The Committee spent some time with our merger counsel, Lee Seham, reviewing the proposed Conditions and Restrictions to the seniority list. In conjunction with that effort, the Committee is working to develop the necessary contract language and will be ready to present the Company with a seniority list with Conditions and Restrictions that will create the framework for a durable and binding seniority section of our new contract.

In addition, we are preparing to certify the seniority list, adding all pilots who have been hired since January 1, 2007. With the pilot group potentially facing furloughs, it is extremely important that all pilots hired since January 1, 2007 be personally involved in helping us to verify the accuracy of the Company generated employment data. We will be emailing each of the affected pilots with specific instructions on how you can assure that your employee data is accurate. If you were hired January 1, 2007 or later, please verify that USAPA has your correct contact information, phone and email address, and if there is any doubt, notify Merger Committee member Bob Davison at bdavison@usairlinepilots.org or call Nicki Taylor at the USAPA offices at 877 678 7272 x 745.

You just ruined the Lil' General's day.

I think we need to agree to disagree with the seniority issue, at some point it will be resolved, one way or the other. All this name calling, unprofessional behavior and the silent, non-participatory protest has proved to be very ineffective, I think we can agree to that much.

Perhaps its time to move on. To those west pilots who have declared war on the east; USAPA and the US Airways pilots have not and will not participate in your civil war. Our pilot group will continue to move in a positive direction, keeping our eyes on the ball. It's reassuring to finally see our west pilots getting involved in the process and joining USAPA. I hope that this is just the beginning of a much larger unified effort.

As the saying goes; If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem.

"Moak said that if the two groups are unable to reach an agreement within a certain timeframe, then the two sides will enter into binding arbitration before a panel of three arbitrators.

The resulting seniority list, whether achieved through negotiations or arbitration, will be final and binding and will be incorporated into the joint collective bargaining agreement, Moak said."

Sigh..yes, yes Dear..we all know = Other airlines are also struggling with aspects of Alpa's "realatively" insane BS...and...The entire world sees Nic as the pinnacle of perfection..awesome..and untouchable...and of course: "You won't even get 200 cards!" ..."it's OVER!"...and your very own "Ho Ho Ho, St Nic is coming to town!"...and naturally; .that USAPA "will be lucky to get even half of the east votes". A DFR suit is still..well...still counting..watching..ummm.."imminent"...and your pilot group's universally adored, your "cause" enshrined...and your fellows all stand upon the highest possible pedestal within all of aviation's regard. Are we done now? How about actually showing the least faith in even your very own, personal notions = "The healing may begin..." etc.?

The airlines do not need a joint pilot contract to combine, but it will help them integrate faster and more smoothly. They are trying to avoid the fate of US Airways Group Inc.

Time to chill.......chilill.

I believe it was you that stated that we need to simply choose to be happy with where we currently find ourselves. So maybe "happy" isn't as easily achieved as you once claimed, but certainly we can agree to disagree and move on.

Was that you that "moderated" the USAPA visit? Take a leadership role here, chilill.

You cited the article, silly chilli!

Now this isn't going to get us down the happy road is it?
Fella, I didn't write the article. If you have a problem with the article, talk to the author. Get it???
