I learned everything I'd ever need to know in Catholic school. Right is Right. Wrong get's punched in the face and nobody cares. Especially the faculty.

I am astounded and sickened by this latest tactic. I really can't believe any professional pilot would think this is a good idea. Are there no limits?

The FOM clearly states that we are required to maintain our qualification.

Maybe you didn't hear about a concerted plan not to do the DL but Hogg did because I got a crewmail warning from him.

Anyone who participates in an illegal job action should be fired.

There are legal ways to pressure the company but guys won't put there money where their mouth is.

Maintaining qualification per the FARs, does not say it has to be completed three days prior to completion. That is an internal company policy, which does not reflect FAA qualification. Anyone with knowledge of the FARs would know this, and any other interpretation is incorrect. The process might be more difficult for scheduling, but not an unanticipated event. Not being able to sign in for a future trip might be different, but what are the historical results? Past practice shows you loose the trip and are not compensated for it, although you are required to make up the time. An illegal job action because management says there is, is only an allegation. Good luck with proving that, when the possibility is already accounted for in general scheduling practices. Do you really think all pilots complete the modules on time? What is the historical completion rate? All of this is just an inept attempt by a weak group of "Yes" men to appease an equally inept group of bean counters.

Mr Isom says that they various lanyards and backers do not present a professional look, and I agree. I think it's a good move.

I have another question. Flag ties seem to be very popular in PHX. The FOM says:

approved patriotic tie may also be
worn at the pilot's option.

Is there a list of approved ties, or do you take it in to your CPO and say "how's this look, do you approve?" because I saw a few yesterday that were a bit different.

Yep,

I guess the next thing will be either no ties other than uniform ties or a flag tie available from our crappy uniform supplier for twice the price it should be. More than likely made in China of substandard materials.
