US Pilots Labor Discussion

It seems it is time for this thread to be closed.... Theres no reason for it anymore other than to insult each other and play romper room?

He started it Mom!

I guess that would be up to the people that own the website. A few months back they made the decision to ease up on the moderating, and sometimes this thread sinks pretty low. I can't see any value unless it let's people blow off steam here instead of in terminals or crew rooms. I don't see that it has closed the gap between east and west.

Pi brat,

Yep,

I guess the next thing will be either no ties other than uniform ties or a flag tie available from our crappy uniform supplier for twice the price it should be. More than likely made in China of substandard materials.

Regards,

Bob

If they are like the standard tie.

I'll bet the cornfield is grown over with weeds.

Dear pilots

It has come to our attention, in the wake of the new standardized lanyard policy, that pilots have been observed flashing gang hand signs or signals to each other in full view of the public. Two most frequently observed is the horizontal, three finger, pinky first sign indicating 3 east domiciles and therefore east affiliation. The other, index finger horizontal, thumb vertical, like a pistol - indicating west affiliation.

All pilots will immediately cease and desist from utilizing divisive and inflammatory hand signs unless it is done away from public view, such as in jetways, crewrooms or cockpits.

A pictorial view of a new company approved hand sign will soon be distributed to your mail boxes.

So, I am reading Cleary's letter in response to the distance learning terminations, and I am once again just shaking my head at the complete lack of understanding of the situation usapa and eastholes like Cleary fail to grasp.

First and foremost this quote.."this once great company". Newsflash Mike and usapa, this company is only 6 years old. "The once great company" is gone. It went bye bye in the last transaction. This company has yet to demonstrate greatness, unless you count how long they have been able to hold the usapa idiots collective heads underwater.

"nobody expected the bankruptcy wages to last this long"......hey no kidding? Ya want to know what else nobody expected? Noboby expected a bunch of morons to keep themselves mired in those wages for years with no end in sight so they could trade "a cost neutral contract for a DOH seniority list". Whats the problem Mike? The company is giving you what Seeham promised.

And this quote, "I like flight pay loss more than DUB overnights, and it helps with my Napoleon complex", did he really have to tell us that? I mean c'mon.

You have a strange take on how long this company has been in existence. You are the only person I have ever heard who believes a company is reincarnated when it comes out of bankruptcy, issues new stock and merges with another company.

US Airways prior to 2005 was never a great airline. It was a a regional airline with some international flying.

And to this day east people still think there company is still here. It is not. It ended with the merger. Unfortunately the people in Tempe thought it would be a good idea to keep the name. Boy was that their second big mistake.

Far better than AWA. Had Parker had any skills like
Bethune, it could have been a success story. Not now.

Even in circumstances when a uniform
appearance (i.e., hat, shirt) is justified, you
cannot lawfully prohibit employees
from wearing union buttons,
stickers or lanyards unless the
display is unreasonably large or the message
is obscene or otherwise disparaging. From NLRB rules!!!!!!!!!

Maybe in the collective mind group of the old US Airways you thought you were better than AWA. But from an outsider at the time looking in you were not. I looked at US Airways and saw TWA all over. A tired outdated company ready for the grave yard.

You clipped the message. As of today, giving a fellow pilot a raspberry has also been prohibited.

Unlike AWA, right? I mean, they had a vast wide body fleet, extensive international flying, no ATSB loan, a boat load of cash, and a stellar customer relations reputation.

luvthe9,

You are absolutely correct. The company can establish a uniform dress code but can't legally prohibit wearing a union pin or lanyard as well. I will be wearing my union lanyard with emergency contact information badge in addition to the required company standard ID lanyard.

And lets not forget the great reservation system and IT department and PHX/LAS HUB

US Airways in Tempe made The Atlantic's list of 19 of the most hated companies in the U.S.

US Airways Group Inc. and several companies with major operations in Arizona made The Atlantic’s list of the “19 Most Hated Companies in America.”

Tempe-based US Airways (NYSE:LCC) was listed as the sixth most hated company, scoring a satisfaction rating of 61 out of 100.

According to The Atlantic: “Common complaints include low ratings for cabin-crew service, baggage fees and baggage handling, a lack of entertainment options and poor communication regarding delays. The company is currently censured by the Department of Transportation for its lack of communication with travelers. In June 2011, the airline carrier paid $45,000 in fines for failing to include the law-required applicable taxes and fees on the same page as a print advertisement on airfare.”

The list also includes Bank of America (19), Cox Communications Inc. (17), JPMorgan Chase & Co. (15), AT&T Mobility (14) and UnitedHealthcare (11).

Makes ya’ proud, doesn’t it?

Best,

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK AWA/TEMPE
