US Pilots Labor Discussion

The buck stops at the MEC. You know that. The MEC could have sent the negotiating committee back yet they did not. Who is the weak sister here?
Who had the Roll Call Votes on MEC?

The PHL and PIT Reps, and BOS Capt Rep and Mowery was their boy.

No wonder we can't make any progress, guys like you are too stupid to know when they're wrong.

Gee Jake, do you think comments like that help move things along? It was that kind of "you're a moron, no you're a moron" that got us a LOA 93 that was worse than the company's first offer.

I've heard it went down pretty much like you say. Thing is, I heard it from someone that was trying to not be blamed for it. IMHO the blame goes back for years and guys like me share it, because I sat on the sidelines and let the guys that "knew that stuff" take care of it.

We have a similar situation now. The "guys that know that stuff" took their toys and went home, so they can bxxxx and whine from a far.

But, as I said before, Doug M. was not solely responsible for LOA 93. There was a whole MEC. There were the let my Daddy vote factions. There was a certain wood chipper beating his drum, and in the end about 53% of the pilots thought it was the road to take. We did get a vote on THAT.

I don't know if you ever joined, but if you did there are only two choices for CLT chairman. Both have some baggage, so we will have to vote for the one that we think will best move us forward.

"... Mowery was their boy." Do you mean Mowery did their bidding, as you slimed him, or, did he do the bidding of the MEC?

So, you admit you were wrong about JD?

Did the BOS cap rep vote the same as the PHL/PIT reps, all the time? Your implication is that they were all in it together and constituted an impossible impediment to management utopia (read - more pilot concessions).

Perhaps you should just admit your presentation skillz need work.

Yes HP agents had the lowest pay/benefits in the industry
Not USAirways thanks to USAirways east agents
You clearly do not know what your talking about.

Uhm......JJ, the tread title is: US PILOTS LABOR DISCUSSION.

That said, the two of the jobs in this industry that I truly appreciate (even more so of those that do so cheerfully) is Flight Attendant & Gate Agent / Ticket Agent. Regardless of the airline that these people work for, they are under appreciated and under paid for the mire that they must deal with from time to time.

Hey, while we are talking about pilot pay: American Eagle is so short of crew that they are paying 300% credit for those that wish to fly trips on / during vacation. An Eagle Captain (EMB) tops out at $110.00 / hour. That's $330 an hour for a trip during vacation time that you had no plans for!!! Don't break out your calculator folks: That is 2.64 x east NB captain pay! Oh, BTW....American Eagle pays 100% DH, MECH & Cancellation!

Meanwhile, back at the ranch we await the promised 90 contract (3.25 years in the making).

USAPA = "Don't worry, it will be over soon.....just keep paying my FPL bill..... !"

Was this in Kirby proposal?

No, they tried to impose their personal agenda on the pilot group instead of representing us.

We were advised by our ALPA advisors that the longer we waited the worse contract we would get which turned out to be the case.

They did give us more concessions than the company orginally asked for.

Did you vote "yes" for LOA 93?

Do you think anyone is going to change their mind based on anything said here? I don't. I think nothing happens until there is a LOA 93 decision or a court ruling.

You're right, the whole MEC is ultimately responsible. I've talked to pilots who went to meetings during the bankruptcy negotiations and the PIT and PHL Reps sat silent and refused to answer their questions. They wanted to impose their personal agendas on us and that's why we got screwed. Doug shares the blame.

Then those pilots you talked to don't know what they were talking about either. You are just making stuff up as you go. You don't even know who the reps were, much less what transpired.

The CLT pilots were exercising their rights as members in good standing and showed up at that meeting in PIT in a show of solidarity. They wanted the deal on the table, or something I was not willing to settle for. But I am not arguing the politics now either way. Fact. Bill Pollock trashed the NEG Committee, and kept dumpster diving for the worst deal he could get (again..look where he is now.)

I guess the recent downturn in the market has made you less assured you don't need this job.

Nothing wrong with arguing the politics, but at least take the time to get the basic facts right. The disagreement between those that wanted any deal or a better deal, or something in between has been forum fodder for years. You just don’t make any sense..."sitting silent" what are you talking about..I was there. There was very little silence.
