US Pilots Labor Discussion

ALPA outsourced the hard work of creating a seniority list and assumed they could outsource/delegate their own responsibility as well. They found out the hard way their responsibility can never be delegated. Nicolau didn't lose so much as a hair on his head.

And, as you were represented by ALPA at the time, the binding arbitration is binding on you. Even if you form a phoney union you can't escape from your promises and agreements.

Isn't that essentially Nic? I don't think that's fair either.

Let me throw this at you. Hub based seniority??? PHL/CLT gets to keep what they had, same for PHX. If you decide to relocate as your screen name suggests then you're integrated based on DOH in CLT?
Why isn't it fair? A guy at the bottom of his list is at the bottom of the Nic. I guy in the middle is placed in the middle and has the same bid power as in his previous list. How is this not fair?

I've got buddies who were ready close to upgrade while their east counterparts were on the street furloughed.

I respect you and your civility. Some of these questions go way way beyond my pay grade as a customer. I hear what you're saying, I just feel that the talent within the pilot community has the direct knowledge to solve this issue in a way all can live with.

I have noticed Mr. Parker has become increasingly uncomfortable in front of the respective pilot groups lately. Admittedly, he is up against a hostile crowd, but as CEO, you think his public speaking skills would be better honed.

My guess or feeling is that this will continue as it has for years to come. Any pilot 58 or older is likely to retire under LOA 93 and many as First Officers. At the end of the day, I expect this battle will have cost each side many millions of dollars with the outcome ultimately being the Nicolau Award. That has been my gut feeling since I attended the USAPA organizing meeting in PHL and saw Lee Seeham's pitch.

There are no winners here except for senior management, the lawyers, and the USAPA FPL'ers. Kinda like ALPA don't you think?
And to this day individual West pilots continue to have to defend against legal attacks from their own union. The company is not our enemy; our own union is.

Separate ops and a totally castrated USAPA works fine for most on the West.

NEWS FLASH The company is ALWAYS your enemy

Sure......, as long as it includes a closed PIT hub since the merger. We'll leave the most famous usair failure of all, the BWI hub (usair shrinking from the bottom up) for a later date and discussion.

Suggest you read the TA/CONTRACT between lcc/awa/aaa found at www.cactuspilot.com It's free and open. I'm sure parker, silver, seigel, seham, bradford and cleary have a copy also. This is a contract we operate under until......Like they say about ROME...All roads lead to the TA. It's a very simply contract and states a joint contract with LCC implements the George Nicolau award.

The east stupidity/arrogance along with the help of east vp's forming usapa have carved the NIC in STONE.

Try and undo this contract and the company and the current cba are sued.

Very simple, wouldn't you agree?

The company doesn't make it a practice to sue individual West pilots. Pretty ironic situation we in the West find ourselves; our supposed protector is our worst enemy and our supposed enemy is an amiable stranger.

Ever seen your airline in bankruptcy?

Nope, that came five or so years before my employment and by the time I came things were humming along. But I have witnessed two bankrupcies with your airline. You guys were an ASA 6 patient ready for organ harvesting...
But leave it to Parker for being the dumb person he is.
You guys were worth much more being parted out.

I hope you don't ever have to go through having your airline shot out from under you.

I hope you don't have to go through having your own union sue you for no reason.
I hope you don't have to go through an organization that wants to put furloughed pilots who haven't flown an airplane in years in front of you on the seniority list and then declare that "fair"
I hope you don't have to deal with a union that wants to fire you because their accounting system is totally screwed up and they declare (out of nowhere and without notice) you are in arrears.

Sorry if you believe I am callous, you made me this way bud...
Enjoy your self- inflicted sorrow and poverty.
I'm ready to live this out another five years if ithat preserves my seniority I brought to this merger- you're not getting a free ride on my back.

This exactly the way the east looks at anything. They are always the victim. The company is always bad, no matter how things work. East will hate anything, it's just part of their existence.

The sooner you guys get over trying to justify your cause, the sooner the company can move on. Binding Arbitration is the only thing that needs to be said, but apparently, just as disrepectful as they are with everything else, they don't respect the law either. Amazing group of self declared victims.
