Nope, that came five or so years before my employment and by the time I came things were humming along. But I have witnessed two bankrupcies with your airline. You guys were an ASA 6 patient ready for organ harvesting...
But leave it to Parker for being the dumb person he is.
You guys were worth much more being parted out.

Yea dude then tell us where the 500 mil profit came from. It wasn't your one hub worst economy in the US
PHX hub was it????????????????

Ah yes, another pilot with skills in routing and marketing. When a pilot starts taking about the business side of an airline, turn around and walk away.

I once took an airplane to PHL and every single passenger was connecting somewhere else. We need to shut down PHL. See, I can play that game too.

Only problem with that is that you are a liar!!!! PHL is biger than ATL. You just can't help yourself can you.

Ok Professor, explain to the class why PHL generates significantly less O&D traffic than ATL....

(BTW - ATL, the Atlanta airport, is bigger than the Philly airport PHL)

Jim

I hope you don't have to go through having your own union sue you for no reason.
I hope you don't have to go through an organization that wants to put furloughed pilots who haven't flown an airplane in years in front of you on the seniority list and then declare that "fair"
I hope you don't have to deal with a union that wants to fire you because their accounting system is totally screwed up and they declare (out of nowhere and without notice) you are in arrears.

Sorry if you believe I am callous, you made me this way bud...
Enjoy your self- inflicted sorrow and poverty.
I'm ready to live this out another five years if ithat preserves my seniority I brought to this merger- you're not getting a free ride on my back.
yup!

Ohhhhh, I get it now. You want a DO OVER to do a NEW SLI using the CURRENT profit/loss information and the CURRENT employment lists vs. using the the profit/loss and employment lists from May of 2005! Now it makes sense. You just delay until the NEW company is doing better and then make your case that you are the stronger, more profitable (after AWA Holdings got financed & bought your sinking airline). BTW, a bunch of the 500 Million profit came from your contract (thanks for that).

Sorry Barrisiter......NICOLAUISTHEONLYSENIORITYLIST. Delay, delay, delay. I almost felt sorry for the CLT pilot (the most recent Crew News) that was pleaded with Mr. Parker to install pay parity, and he promised that we would forge ahead to a new contract. Mr. Parker patiently informed the misinformed (again) that pay parity would ONLY BE ACHIEVED by a new contract.

PHX (Tempe, technically) is the home of the NEW US AIRWAYS (you may have noticed this when you tried to go to the home offices in DC, and noticed that the building was up for lease). While not a major east coast hub, we still are still one of the largest metropolitan areas in the country. We have lots of commerce, and let's face it: It is a great place to hang October - March.

The union is in a melt down and Cleary is looking for the next lawsuit that YOU can't afford. How much longer are you going to follow the lead lemming?........Look kids! A Cliff!

This exactly the way the east looks at anything. They are always the victim. The company is always bad, no matter how things work. East will hate anything, it's just part of their existence.

The sooner you guys get over trying to justify your cause, the sooner the company can move on. Binding Arbitration is the only thing that needs to be said, but apparently, just as disrepectful as they are with everything else, they don't respect the law either. Amazing group of self declared victims.

No victim here just a one line primer on Labor Management relations.

Honestly, do you really think Doug Parker & Scott Kirby actually care about their 32,000 plus employees? You're a means to their end. IOW, you're just so much #### under their feet. You're just another piece of equipment like a Tug or a baggage cart. They use you until you break and then they get a new one.

Doug & Scott's attitude towards employees would be perfect if they were Coal Operators in the 1920's in West Virginia. OH and if you didn't have a union wait until you turn 50 or reach top of scale in a non union environment. May 31st of this year one of my former employers cut 108 people. All except one were over 50 and the one who wasn't was 49. I point this out to you as this company is ranked in the top 50 of the most admired company's in the world. Now tell us where US Airways falls? What was it? 6th worst? And you think Parker cares about you?

If your answer is yes then I have a really nice chunk of Cedar Swamp in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan I can let you have at a good price 😀 😀

I'm not sure where you gained clairvoyance and can presume to know the mind of Doug or Scott. That's quite a hypothesis you have going there. Of course what externally looks like a lack of care to you may well be the exact opposite motivation for them. Making business decisions for the good of the company, the shareholders, and the employees is naturally a difficult balance to achieve. Is it better to give employees everything they ask for with the ultimate result of that being bankruptcy or liquidation? Perhaps they think (an I'm not clairvoyant either), that running a financially sound airline that doesn't say yes to every request is preferable to putting 32,000 employees on the street.

I love my kids, but I don't let them have their way most of the time. My son wants every toy he comes across at Toys-R-Us, but I say no far more than I ever say yes to his begging. Sometimes my daughter thinks its okay to run out in the street or parking lot without looking and I tell her she can't do that even if she doesn't know why. My kids might think its okay to disobey me so that they can do what they want instead of what I want, but they suffer punishment because they have disobeyed me or my wife. Based on your descriptions I guess you think I hate my kids and think of them as ##### beneath my shoes just like Doug and Scott do to employees in your eyes.

You are blinded by your personal dislikes for these two executives. Of course it wouldn't matter if they were both replaced today, tomorrow you would be probably be spewing vile opinions of the next executive team or at least as soon as they didn't roll over and sign big $ labor contracts or put coat closets back on the AC or whatever. Business is business and since when did anyone start working for a major corporation hoping that the guy at the top "liked" them personally? Do a job and get a paycheck. Don't like doing your job then find another one.

You weren't here when Siegel was running US. He was an improvement over the previous team and boyo boyo did I take the heat then.

When Siegel was replaced by Bruce Lakefield. If not for Bruce Lakefield's quiet leadership through US Airways darkest times we wouldn't have a US Airways board and likely no America West board either here as both airlines were hanging by a thread. Granted US's thread was a lot thinner. IMO, Bruce Lakefield saved both airlines. With his background in finance and experience leading a company through troubled times he was the right man in the right place at the right time.

Bruce Lakefield was IMO a people person first and a numbers guy second. He was on record as stating he wanted more then anything to save the jobs of the people under him. Conversely Doug Parker has on multiple occasions made public declarations that clearly show him to be anti customer and anti employee. This manifests itself in the ranking as 6th worst company in America. Parker is not a leader, has questionable morals (Multiple DUI's) and IMO hinders US Airways growth as an airline.

Gordon Bethune was widely known as "Gordon the Blowhard", a title he earned. However CO went from worst to first by leading his people. They admire and respect him to this very day. That admiration and respect carried right to the bottom line and I would submit to you that the attitude of Parker towards his workers also flows to the bottom line, just in a negative instead of positive.

If you don't make your people a priority don't expect them to make your customers a priority. Why do you think Piedmont was so successful? They had a CEO they knew cared about them. When Mr Davis retired the employees took up a collection and bought him a car (Big Ole Mercedes IIRC) as a retirement gift. With this current gang you'd be hard pressed to raise enough money to buy a thirty rack of Bud.

Leadership isn't found on a spreadsheet. Leadership is inspiring men and women to do more then they think they're capable of doing. I learned about leadership early on from my uncle who fought with General Patton. Picture Doug Parker as Patton! If that was the case the 3rd Army would still be 100 miles away from Bastogne because Doug's spreadsheet would tell him the "metrics" say the men can't march that fast. Thankfully for us Patton was in charge on that one.

I don't think it's "dislikes" as much as they are totally "INCOMPETENT"and their character is embarrassing to this company between the DUI's and the alledged assault of an flight attendant, not to mention its been over six years to put the two smallest and scum ridden airlines togther. Do you see Gary Kelly over at Southwest having these problems, he's laughing his arss off at Parker!!!!!
