US Pilots Labor Discussion

You're just pissed because he's made you guys his beyatches to the tune of $7.5 M a week in savings.

Get over it. He knows what he's doing.
Wow, sorry son you really make yourself look stupid with statement's like that one.

I don't think it's "dislikes" as much as they are totally "INCOMPETENT"and their character is embarrassing to this company between the DUI's and the alleged assault of an flight attendant, not to mention its been over six years to put the two smallest and scum ridden airlines together. Do you see Gary Kelly over at Southwest having these problems, he's laughing his arss off at Parker!!!!!

Why limit your observations to Gary Kelly? DL/NW, UA/CO also managed to integrate their pilot groups rather seamlessly. UA/CO has had a hiccup or two, but not a 6 year case of crohn's disease at US Airways.

As to my "Side", I'm on the side of those who actually do the work, not those who reap the rewards.

. IMO, Bruce Lakefield saved both airlines. With his background in finance and experience leading a company through troubled times he was the right man in the right place at the right time.

Doc Bronner and the Retirement System of Alabama might disagree with you. As well as the ATSB.

You right, actually any company I should have said SH.

Well I suppose its a good thing that Parker and the rest of the executive team answer to the BOD and shareholders regarding their competence rather than having their evaluations based on your definitions of competence. The shareholders want the company to make money and US has reported very respectable profits in three of the five years post-merger. To show their approval they have also compensated the executives for their performance. The BOD/Shareholders also want the executives to run a safe & reliable airline and they have accomplished that with dramatic results in 2008 and following. Again the DOD has shown their approval of executive performance with bonuses. The BOD/shareholders want their investment to provide good returns via stock prices. That hasn't happened so much since 2007, but all airlines are down based largely on the economy rather than the incompetence of leadership. Of course the executives have a tremendous incentive to improve stock prices and they have not been rewarded for that aspect of their performance nearly so much as they potentially could if the stock price were to jump up to $20, $60 or $100/share. Perhaps those rewards will come when we get competent leaders in Washington who know how to let the economy grow without federal interference.

You can deflect all you like, but anyone who has been paying attention over the last six years knows why the pilots and flight attendants have not been integrated with joint contracts. The problem is that the east pilots have decided to violate the terms of the Transition Agreement which has put this issue into the hands of multiple federal courts. Those courts take a painfully long time to resolve civil disputes of this magnitude and blaming Parker/Kirby is just a pure smoke screen. The east flight attendants failed to recognize just how committed the east pilots were to violating federal law and didn't attempt to really negotiate a stand-alone contract until long after the merger. On that front it looks to me like they, taking their cue from the east pilots, would rather hold out for an unattainable contract for several more years rather than getting $40m worth of improvements today. I would call that incompetence all right, but the designation should be reserved for USAPA and AFA, not Parker & Kirby.

Everyone knows about Parker and the DUIs, but how does that affect his performance as CEO in 2011? Society has established a punishment for DUI offenses and I believe he fully paid what society has asked him or any other of the thousands who commit DUI offenses in Maricopa County each year. Is there some other punishment that local laws require that he hasn't paid his dues for? Perhaps you think all people who drive under the influence should lose their job or perhaps you think they should just be shot or something. I don't know what you want, but the City, County and State seem to be fully satisfied that the crime has been paid for. The BOD doesn't care about that so long as it does not happen again, so this is non-issue and all your complaining about it won't matter for a second when it comes to the BOD evaluating Doug's performance as CEO.

You want to make a big deal out of an alleged incident when it involves Management or AOL, but you turn a blind eye to what Captain Wells is alleged to have done because she is one of your own. If we are going to string Kirby and AOL up for alleged conduct, why would we not string Wells, Cleary, Mowrey or Seham up for their alleged misconduct? Shameful double standards are in play here, but the east pilots are masters of the double standards from what I can tell. Nothing is more obvious on this point than east pilots continued support for USAPA, a completely incompetent labor union, while trying to lay blame on Parker/Kirby who have filed the DJ and Injunction law suits in an effort to ignite genuine good faith contract negotiations.
