US Pilots Labor Discussion

Show me where it's written that they cannot empanel a special committee and grant them extraordinary one time authority.
It's written no where. But do you really believe that the West would trust a committee/commission/whatever appointed by USAPA? What USAPA would need to do is give the West their own independent BPR with it's own independent finances and either let them appoint or the West pilots elect a West MC, again independently funded. There could be absolutely no way for USAPA to pull the strings or you end up with a West rubber stamp for whatever USAPA wants. And then what if a solution can't be agreed to? Back to arbitration? Then finally, assuming that a solution was produced, all it takes is one West pilot that disagrees and the DFR battle starts all over again.

What Bradford did, and the East supported at the time, was push Humpty Dumpty off the wall and all the king's horses and all the king's men can't put Humpty back together again.

When I suggested a special committee, I hope it was understood that such a committee with extraordinary powers would be comprised of west pilots and selected by west pilots. USAPA grants the authority, ball is in west court.

Anyone can file a DFR. Could they not do so under ALPA? The question is, if both sides agree to an alternative solution, through the expression of separate majorities, then would the prospect of defending against such a DFR improve - and I contend yes it would.

So, if the west special committee comes up with a new list where every east pilot is stapled to the bottom of the west list, you will be ok with that?

IOW, you guys F'd this up so bad you want another do-over. Sorry champ. The USCABA voters pushed everybody passed the event horizon. Decert. Is your only other option. The West will vote en masse however will best screw the East. Can't say vice versa like 3.5 years ago. LOA93 fatigue is taking a large toll. That fact has hardly gone un-noticed.

Bottom line, if uslappy had shown a shred of success or offered a glimmer of doh hope, you would NEVER be suggesting what you are. Too bad. Choke on it.

We're getting deep into hypotheticals here, but the committee would represent the west, negotiate for the west, speak for the west and vote yes or no, or submit to west membership for a vote on any SLI proposal. I suppose the east counterpart would either be a corresponding special committee, or the existing merger commiittee.

Look, if we stay the course it will be at least 3 more years before this is resolved. No need for move2clt to rent a moving van yet. If your dream of USAPA melting down becomes reality, that doesn't improve our collective predicament either.

I'm just trying to explore a third option.

US Airways has received more outside safety accolades than any other U.S. airline.
That used to be correct, until tempe got a voice. It has all been downhill since, the company citing results of in-house or fake safety organizations since.

Clever, or just lazy, how you manipulate the language.

So, if both committees can't agree, what's next? Arbitration?

To be honest, I didn't expect any supporters on this idea, east or west. You guys can continue the food fight.

Several of us have gone down in flames with different ideas to break the deadlock. You are in good company. I for one respect the effort.

Why does anyone even think for a minute that Mr. "DUI 1-31-2007", I know, it's on a bag tag I saw, wants to complete a merger? Why ever would he accede to increased costs? In one year, almost as much as he blew investing in trashing unrestricted cash on derivatives.

Let's face facts. He is using "the rules" against labor and betting that the employees cannot restructure with east and west separate contracts. You are wasting your time and resources trying to do so when a principle, management, will never sign anything should employees get to that point. Heck, that is even if the cultures close to similar.

Do you consider the US military or NRC "fake" organizations?

Now compare that to a survey that is nothing more than an opinion poll of angry east pilots. The safety culture survey was nothing but opinion. No data, no facts.

And all of them have been easties. Wonder why they're so desperate to break the deadlock if all the retirements are coming in the east. And they don't care about being on LOA 93 so what's the rush.

I don't know why you guys even bother.
