US Pilots Labor Discussion

With any luck, the dictated outcome will piss both sides off, as equally as possible, thereby achieving a "fair" resolution.

There will be no dictated outcome and Silver has hinted in the direction on more than one occasion.

The outcome was the Nicolau award. No court is going to modify a federally arbitrated award.

Once again, there is no way around the Nic. Its status quo or Nic and nothing else.

I still can't, for the life of me, understand how he could think the onus was on us to present anything to the east.
because he's a naive fool that has absolutelly no clue of who he is dealing with. He spews the same crap on the awappa board and not one pilot backs his ideas.

Unfortunately, I think you are probably correct. The two extremes East & West are far too entrenched and vested, both emotionally and financially, to broker a compromise.

The trench warfare will continue until a higher power (the court) imposes an armistice. With any luck, the dictated outcome will piss both sides off, as equally as possible, thereby achieving a "fair" resolution.

1. There are no "extreme" supporters on the West. The West pilots that support the Nic are far from "extreme". An "extreme" West position would be , all the east pilots should be stapled to the bottom of the West list. That would be "extreme", and why the West never adopted such a position.

2. The "overreaching" position usapa has taken, is indeed "extreme". That is why it was shot down by Nic, was forbiden in the TA, and why it violates the company's statement of labor principles.

3. The east even went to "extreme" measures to try to force their "extreme" position. Luckily, in the end, the "fairness" of the Nic will prevail.

4. This idea that "fairness" or justice revolves around everybody being equally pissed off is ludicrous.

5. With any luck, the dicated outcome will be seen as "extreme" by the reneging malcontents who did not deserve as good a treatment as they got from Nic in the first place.

Putting a Reserve F/O ahead of a Captain on the same airplane keeps the other side motivated.
Yeah, seventeen year F/O would seem to be less qualified than a three year total time in a cockpit captain. Sounds to me like projection and may only apply to you.

Whatever happened to ordering a list by number of years in the company cockpit? I'd love to be in a cockpit jump seat with a nicholau mismatch as just getting to the runway would likely provide a tremendous amount of entertainment.

What you mean is: "What's right as determined by traderjake." No?

Just because you see something as "right," does not make it right at all. You are entitled to your opinion, but understand it is just that...opinion.

Wonderful advice! Bravo!!! I think you are finally starting to come around.
Group think on the east doesn't define "fair". That's what neutral third parties are for, like... ARBITRATORS. Get it? oh. Didn't think so.

It's also the opinion of the arbitrators of the last four pilot seniority arbitrations.

Slotting by equipment and status is fair and DOH/LOS is not.

You can ignore and spin reality but not the consequences.

We're living the consequences.

And now you get to hear mine.

The roadblock as I see it to some sort of compromise that would get negotiations moving forward is that neither group wants to make the first move as they would appear weak to their supporters.

The key here is to find some sort of face saving mechanism that allows a little give and take to get one united Pilot group, one that is unified and strong enough to shut US Airways down if a reasonable contract isn't brought forward.

For the better part of six years you've tried to screw each other to no avail, you should have been focused in beating every last dime out of Doug Parker's wallet. But the flight deck is one of the most testosterone poisoned environments in the world, with egos & arrogance big enough to fill the cargo bays of an B747. So now we have one of the longest penis measuring contests in history and the problem is as you're finding out is size doesn't really matter. So now you're stuck.

Take your virtuous and righteous attitude and shove it up your ass. If we need an ethics class, we'll let you know.
So says the guy who admires Nazi soldiers for being loyal.

Apparently you're not smart enough to know you already need one

I always thought just "putting a guy with 17 years unbroken service behind a new hire" was good enough to keep my motivation going.

But you are my new "super" hero friend..well said.

ALPA, and especially the West MEC "didn't count" on a lot of things. History is repeating.

Exactly Superhero, and when Kasher delivers, it will be another thing they "didn't count on." That, will be a total game changer.
