US Pilots Labor Discussion

Eastcoast represents a big majority of east Capt who are ready to hang this up. Most are just waiting for LOA93 to come out officially before pulling the trigger, but they're fed up now.
Hear it on the jumpseat a lot. In four years it's gone from, "I hope you (West) guys understand, I just need a contract and a raise so I'm voting for USAPA" to "We need a contract now. Everyone knows it will be the Nicolau."

Then Brookman got it wrong. So he said AMENABLE. It does not say amenable in the legal document. It does not say snap back either. It says FROZEN. Kasher has read the correct term contained in the document, FROZEN. If it said amenable, we wouldn't even be discussing the issue now. You are continuing to perpetuate the falsehood that the term AMENABLE is there. It isn't.
The two Dons says the same thing and support Brookman. John spelled it out that there were no provisions for a Snapback until you got a new contract.

And Mowery couldn't claim otherwise because he didn't have his notes for that particular day of negs.

How convenient.

I think we need to start postIng transcript highlights again.

I wonder why the officers get a different amount? Don't they work just as hard?

In accordance with the Constitution and Bylaws, a monthly stipend of $1,500 will be paid to the USAPA President; a monthly stipend of $1,250 per month will be paid to the Vice President, Executive Vice President and Secretary-Treasurer, and a monthly stipend of $1,000 will be paid to the Chairmen of the following committees:

Amazing how I'm gone for four days and I come back to an east on east exchange.

Eastcoast represents a big majority of east Capt who are ready to hang this up. Most are just waiting for LOA93 to come out officially before pulling the trigger, but they're fed up now.

Our PHX rep Eric F. Is receiving more phone calls from east Captains than the easy reps are? Why? They're venting to him about how they've had it with Cleary. They've told Eric the want a contract now and they'll take the Nic.

Eastcoast is not atypical. I believe he represents the silent majority.

Breeze lacked conviction in his beliefs and thus had to remove himself from these boards. He cried long and hard enough to the mods to put me in a time out for four days, but that was a sacrifice I was will to make for this forum.

He's gone now and more easties are starting to figure it out here. The PMs I've gotten over the past two days prove that those like crazy are losing support faster than they can imagine.

And the circus at USAPA HQ continues minus Theur. He found his exit and bailed on his sinking ship.

And in response, Cleary raised his monthly stipend.

You and Aqua are the farthest from reality. Why would- an East narrowbody captain about to upgrade to widebody and a raise take the Nic and be blocked off forever from that raise? Why would an East f/o about to upgrade to captain take the Nic and prevent that upgrade? And the HUNDREDS lined up behind him/her? Why would an East 190 Capt take the Nic, and keep himself on the 190 or F/O on a narrowbody? Why would any new hire want to take the Nic, and open the flooddgates for West pilots to take every position right now they are blocked from? Everyone has Parker figured. We are not getting a raise, unless we strike and the West will scab. That is the bottom line. That is what everyone East has figured, save a few. You guys are never getting the Nic. It will never pass, until enough of us go away. Years at best. The only way out of this is a contract that pays longevity, and then nobody East or West will care what seat they are in if the money is good.

Another one who has not obviously read the document. It doesn't say snapback.

From the July 26, 2002 Charlotte Observer:

"What's disturbing are reports that the CWA leadership is misleading its members. Last Friday, company negotiators asked the union to meet, to try and resolve their differences. The union said its negotiators couldn't meet, but its advisers would be available. However, I'm told that when management tried to schedule a meeting, they were told the advisers had other commitments. Meanwhile, the CWA issued a report telling its members the company met with the advisers last weekend - which management disputes.Brinkmanship by any union could push the airline into bankruptcy. It's disappointing to see a relatively small group of employees risk the destruction of a viable company, with a devastating effect on 40,000 employees and their families."

This is Roy Freundlich with US Airways an MEC update for Friday, July 26, with two new items:
Item 1. Today the Charlotte Observer published an anti-union editorial from one of our pilots, titled "Unions can Sink US Airways," that aggressively promotes management’s objectives on achieving concessions from other labor groups. The editorial goes so far as to suggest that the CWA union leadership, who represent customer service employees, is misleading their members on their negotiating activity, and implies that management’s side of a dispute is more accurate.

This editorial does not in any way represent ALPA’s position, understanding, or sentiment, on other unions and their sincere efforts to represent their members. ALPA has received no reports, nor would it assign any value to reports, that suggest that any union is misleading their membership. The pilot author of the editorial holds no union position in ALPA. The anti-union public statements from one of our pilot-ALPA members is regrettable.

We urge all pilots to contact their reps or the Comm Center for accurate updates on restructuring negotiations and the activity of other unions. We also request that all pilots refrain from promoting any management anti-union propaganda or chastise other employees in the media. There is little to be gained from such activity other than embarrassment for yourself, your fellow pilots, US Airways, and ALPA
Passengers Service Employees took major pay and benefit cuts without contract protection passenger service employees took the brunt of management’s labor cost cutting pay was frozen for three years. in 1994 1800 passenger service employees were eliminated which represent 85% of all occupational job cuts that year. In 1991 the defined benefit pension plan was change to a 401k. That same year USAir unilaterally cut back on vacation holiday and sick leave and change work rules. Union employees benefits did not change because they were protected by their contracts.
Passenger Service Employees elect CWA as there representative September 29,1997.Wolf was hired January 1996
Passenger Service Employees got there very first contract December 13,1999 this after Wolf went thru 3 Federal appeals in court to try to get CWA throw of the property. CWA started to negotiate December 9,10, 1997. Because of USAir improved financials Wolf had a hard time obtaining labor concessions form protected work groups.

That TA is going to past so fast and by a margin so great it'll make your head spin.

In fact, that TA will pass by an east majority alone without any help from the west.

Then get the contract with the pay raise in it out there, and the vacation, and let's see. Just so so it doesn't mention Nicolau and we will vote.

So it turns out Seham's doe's have been identified. The IP address is from Ms Murphy's home town and the new residence of our esteemed VP.

And, coincidentally, Theur has bailed from USAPA.

So what's Seham up to? Obviously doesn't want to sue a bankrupt union. Maybe a personal lawsuit? Maybe leverage to get USAPA back once Cleary is gone?

Seham has a nice hand to play.

And the circus out easy continues. Great job on this open, transparent, and pilot-centric union.

More like a dating service for BPR officers.
