US Pilots Labor Discussion

I haven't visited this board in a LONG time and I stopped reading this thread in November 2010, has there been any movement at all? I'm surprised to see these same arguments. I don't understand one thing. In the NW/DL merger, my partner flew the A320 at NW. He was hired in 1998. A friend of mine from DL, also hired in 1998, flew international FO prior to the merger. He gained 2,000 numbers over my partner. Today, they are both flying what they did before the merger. Isn't that what NIC was trying to do? I'm not taking sides, I'm just asking the question: is DOH more "fair and equitable" when you have a very young company merge with a much older one?

the west is unwilling to take a 10 year fence.. I'm sure every east pilot would be ok with that, the reason plain and simple.
they know they hit the lottery with the NIC.

Truth? Please present it. You have innuendo and third hand anecdotal stories and no actual proof.
Gee whiz, I guess you are saying Mr. Parker beat that DUI in 2007, one of many. Can you offer proof of that? Seems I have his mug shot, the police report and sentencing.

I must say that tempe is awash with rumors and examples about your leaderships bad decision-making, however, good leadership finds ways to answer concerns without resorting to heavy handed tactics, which with your group seems to excel. If they cannot handle it then they are no better than SS troopers, shuttering people for mere criticism of der Führer.

As I said, fear, intimidation and doubt are powerful, for a while.

Your buddy, MOV2CLT, stated, without even batting an eye-lash, that Mr. Kirby was "in love" with his then pregnant secretary when she mysteriously disappeared. Perhaps you would like to present libel charges to him/her, first.

Kind of like a soap opera, huh? Tune in a few years later and the story line is the same. A few old players, a few new ones, same theme.

Some legal progress has been made and that is were it will be settled. My personal opinion is that barring an outside event we are still a few years away from a joint ratified contract that will put a joint seniority list in place.

I don't think DOH is more fair and equitable, it is the other end of the Nic, I just don't think the Nic is fair. Did you catch the guy I mentioned in a previous post? Slotted ahead of me. Hired 13 years after me. He has never been a captain and today he can hold the same thing we both held on the day the Nic came out, A320 F/O. That is the highest paying position he can hold. In the meantime, even after losing more airframes than the west, I am now an A320 C/O and could also hold 737 C/O, A330 F/O or 76I F/O. All of those positions pay more, even at our crappy rates, than the AWA guy can hold, yet if we flip the switch on the Nic tomorrow, he could hold them above me for the rest of our career, with no restrictions.

That's why I think it is unfair, but life is not always fair and it is still unknown if anything can be done about it. We'll see.

Thanks for the input.

Hello Pi brat... Thanks for the welcome to the board. I was curious as to how you foresee the future of the "soap opera" unfolding, specifically some approximate timeline and a final outcome. From my POV, it appears that we are marching inexorably toward the NIC, however each goose-step in the parade seems to take 6-18 months. Do you foresee a different outcome? Is it worth the battle? Is it a function of the result of LOA93? Thanks again.

I was in the court room, the Judge wanted labor peace, it clearly stated if it wasnt ratified it would be imposed, it was a "token" vote.
Would that have been like a vote for the pension? BK judge took it. The vote would not have mattered.

He was in love. You could see it in his eyes at all the crew news he attended. Wasn't it obvious to you?

And he told me when I was at his house hanging out just before Doug showed up.

Forgetting that our management is also your management? Just like you constantly remind us that usapa is our union. You may want to examine your own leadership short comings before complaining about management. You can do something about the union but choose to leave that mess in place. Not much you can do about management.

Timeline moving toward the NIC? Glacial, at best. Depending upon what may or may not happen with respect to a deal with AA, despite what "Dougie" say's about "wanting" a JCBA, unless it becomes a requirement to do a deal, "Team Tempe" is more than happy to keep things just the way they are.

If the East prevails on LOA-93 and the East pay goes back to pre-LOA-93 rates, the chances of getting the East to ratify a NIC inclusive JCBA are, well, lets just leave it as, not good.

Things would speed up with an East loss of LOA-93, but not by much.

As far as whether it will have been worth it in the end, that depends on when and what the end turns out to be.

Thanks for this fantastic post. It's a keeper.

I did move back a few percentage points, but that's to be expected in a merger. I wanted a staple but knew deep down we'd never get it.

What seat were you flying in when this merger occured? Weren't there a ton of easties that werent in any seat?

I don't want a redo because it was agreed to and it's final and binding. Im willing to accept that and move on. I'd rather have stapled you but an agreement is an agreement.

Just curious, if this do over doesn't go your way again, domyiunwant another do over? How many do overs would you be willing to go through? What makes you think that you get what you want this time when 18 months producing nothing acceptable to you?

No, there will be no do over. Both sides made a deal and you're going to love with it.

Don't get me wrong...I DON'T want a do over. I did at one time because I mistakenly thought it might be a road some kind of peace between East and West. I do not believe there could ever exist such a peace. The window has come and gone. This is the best we can hope for so get on with it. I just want Judge Silver to do whatever it is she is going to and get it over with. Same with LOA93...just get it over with.

Oh, what seat was I flying when the merger occured? The same seat I've held since the early 80s. The LEFT seat.

The window for peace closed when you clowns sat idly by while Bradford etal. Sued 18 of our pilots for no reason. Enjoy Loa93- it's more than you even deserve. You should have been unemployed in 2005.

Ah, more revisionist history. The West was carrying on an illegal dues boycott and shutting down communications at the then tiny union HQ, having been asked to stop numerous times. Between the RICO suit and the NMB dues arbitration, both behaviors were stopped. I don't remember any doves flying out of our windows back then..yet now you make it sound like you were the poor oppressed children just trying to get along.

Again ironic, you make fun of pilot's weight here and call others clowns.

By the way, anyone doubting the teeth in Section 29 lately? Arbitrator Whit made it clear everyone pays and what happens if they don’t.

And the only ones now ignoring the fact we live in a “traceable” electronic age seem to be certain union Officers. Impersonating a lawyer via email is just as stupid as calling a union accident hotline with your caller id on.

3% raises compounded yearly starting in 2010 and our trickling attrition will work just fine for the next 10 years. I don't require much.
