US Pilots Labor Discussion

Here we are a couple days later and still no explanation about why AA does not think the Nicolau list is to "keen". Come on man, back up your statement. Could it be that like most everything said by east pilots it was totally made up without facts? Only more opinion?

If the AA pilots don't like the Nicolau list how about telling us what they do like. Do you really believe that the group that stapled TWA so badly that congress had to create a new law to make sure that never happened again is going to accept DOH from the oldest group on the planet? Take a look at the list. 85% of the east was hired before 1990. The junior captain at AA is a 1992 hire. AA is not going to allow F/O's to be senior to a large number of captain and an arbitrator is not going to put F/O's senior to captain. Especially WB pilots.

I personally have not discussed any merger related issues with AA Pilots, and I have many riding my jumpseat. I have noticed that AA does have an aging pilot and FA group as does the East. Maybe this was the point of the "keen" remark..........I wouldn't be too concerned either way, there is no guarantee LCC will merge with AMR. B6 is probably a better candidate for them.

I think both sides, West & East need to watch this video. I hope it can put some of you in the mood and lay off that crap slinging at each other.

Ya Barrister?

Your post reeks of an inability to use quote tags.

And, by your response, a deep down realization that you know my post is true.

Accept it.

Good comeback. Your razor sharp intellect is something to behold. Remember my post from months ago. You were the kid in school who always waited for other people to pile on before you did.
We all recogize you from way back. You wre the kid who waited until the teacher turned her backto make some snide rude comment. And last but not least you were always chosen LAST. It must really suck to be you.

He is not the looser or A hole he pretends to be. He is flooding the board with calculated insults to inflame emotions in order to manipulate pilot opinions. The more he tries the more it proves that USAPA is exactly what it should be. See him for what he is. A barometer.

Wow. Mikey's gettin' desperate. The Boa Constrictor of reality is slowly tightening it's grip. Got news for You too Mikey....you failed. Miserably. Everybody knows it.

"I recognize that many of us are discouraged by the loss of the LOA 93 arbitration. But as with any other setback that we have endured, we must evaluate our struggle continuously to determine if the battles are worth the fight. Our answer must be a resounding yes. We cannot contemplate failing to demand justice in contract compliance, Management's compliance with the RLA to bargain fairly, or in our fight for a fair seniority agreement. Make no mistake about it; this is a war against our rights and basic dignity that is being waged both internally and externally by people who desperately want something from you. These people are not at all hard to identify -- those who have interests diametrically opposed to our own, such as the seniority issue, and those who openly align with them. Unfortunately, there is no middle ground being offered by our opposition on any front, so there is simply no question of which side of the battles to be on. We will neither cease nor buckle and our adversaries should clearly understand that our commitment to our collective futures will endure regardless of what is thrown at us. In the end, the resolve of the pilots of USAPA will prevail and our once proud Company will appropriately recognize and repay our pilots for the massive contribution that we have all made to ensure the success of US Airways going forward.

Despite setbacks and distractions, we must remain focused on our goals and rededicate ourselves to attaining those goals. I know you will join with me as we work together to achieve the justice that each member of this organization rightfully deserves."

Sincerely,

Captain Mike Cleary

This struck me as interesting:

I regret that the Board recently failed to approve a number of committee appointments during our last BPR meeting. For example, our Communications Committee leadership has been dismantled -- we do not currently have a Communications Chairman or Vice Chairman. I will not, however, let you go uninformed, and I will regularly write to you to keep you apprised of all current developments until a Communications Chairman and Vice Chairman are appointed and approved. For the record, every committee appointment under my watch has taken place in strict compliance with the USAPA Constitution. The Constitution says that the President appoints and the Board approves. The framers of the USAPA Constitution were deliberate in drafting this process. They believed that the President was more likely to build a team by appointing than was the Board by bargaining/fighting with each other over committee membership.

So, Theuer resigns and makes recommendations. The recommended parties either don't want to be a "key" part of this debacle, or were not approved by the board. Further, it seems el Presidente is inferring that the BOD is harshing his mellow when it comes to recommendations.

What a tool.

First off, its loser and not "looser."

And as I've asked before, what is USAPA supposed to be exactly? Is it an organization that no longer functions because everyone keeps resigning? For example:

Recently resigned Positions:

John Owens – Chairman Business intelligent Committee

Tom Kubik – Chairman Safety Committee

Eric Jordan – PHL Vice Chairman

Pat Day – Negotiating Advisory Committee

Manny Lopez – Negotiating Advisory Committee

Scott Theuer - Chairman, Communications Committee

Todd Fieser – Vice Chairman Communications Committee

Todd Fieser – Pilot to Pilots

Is it an organization where the BPR not longer believes in its president?

Is that what you're looking for? A dysfunctional, incompetent, unproductive union?

Congratulations then because you got it.

USAPAs world is coming apart.

Fellow pilots,

You may have noticed there has suddenly been a veil of silence from the USAPA Communications Committee.  The Compass Correction Team has learned that both the Chairman and the Vice Chairman positions are currently unfilled.  We understand that the Board of pilot Representatives (BPR) refused to rubber stamp Mike Cleary’s appointments to numerous Committees’ last week. Apparently the BPR now believes that a vetting process should take place.

It seems that after Scott Theuer’s resignation effective on Dec 1st, the Vice Chairman resigned his position to accept the President’s appointment to the Communication Committee Chairman’s position.  He also resigned his P4P Chairman’s position.

The Committee selection process, especially for Chairman, should require notices to the membership of vacant positions and scheduled interviews in front of the BPR. This process would be helpful in encouraging a more participatory organization which seeks the best talent available within its membership. Of course, after the interview process, positions should be filled by representative voting through the BPR.

In the interim, an orderly transition would have been preferred. The Vice Chairman would have assumed the Chairman’s duties until a permanent replacement was selected and approved, by the Board.  Instead, this important committee has been left unstaffed as a result of the political wrangling of the President. There is no reason for any of this drama, except for political theatre it provides the President, in this campaign season. Organizational “Best Practices” should be Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) at USAPA.

We are not surprised that instead of immediately beginning the process to fill the positions, the President and previous Communication Chair moved to assure that their political friends would be appointed into these positions. The result is what we have today; ineffective, politicized leadership and another “single point of failure!”

We at the Compass Correction will double our efforts in keeping the membership informed. To that end, below is a list of recent resignations from USAPA to add to the growing numbers of members no longer willing to work for USAPA under the current leadership.

Recently resigned Positions:

John Owens – Chairman Business intelligent Committee

Tom Kubik – Chairman Safety Committee

Eric Jordan – PHL Vice Chairman

Pat Day – Negotiating Advisory Committee

Manny Lopez – Negotiating Advisory Committee

Scott Theuer - Chairman, Communications Committee

Todd Fieser – Vice Chairman Communications Committee

Todd Fieser – Pilot to Pilots

The National Election can’t come soon enough!

So many easties jumping ship. So many easties giving up and willing to accept the Nic.

Time have changed and Cleary's tone proves this. He sees the end is near.

He has now resorted to threatening his own pilots.

I was just making a periodic stop by to see how things were going and I caught this gem in Cleary's communication and noticed that no one seemed to have caught it, or that I didn't go back far enough to see that someone caught it.

Unfortunately, there is no middle ground being offered by our opposition on any front, so there is simply no question of which side of the battles to be on.

Well the answer is that USAPA did away with the "opposition" when they formed USAPA and killed off the ability of West pilots to be represented by anyone other than USAPA in any non-judicial proceedings.
