US Pilots Labor Discussion

I was just making a periodic stop by to see how things were going and I caught this gem in Cleary's communication and noticed that no one seemed to have caught it, or that I didn't go back far enough to see that someone caught it.

Well the answer is that USAPA did away with the "opposition" when they formed USAPA and killed off the ability of West pilots to be represented by anyone other than USAPA in any non-judicial proceedings.
Yes you are correct. But he is also talking about the company and contract negotiations. It seems no one wants to work with Cleary on anything. In his mind it is always everyone elses fault.

Ah, yes, the middle ground... ALPA always praised the middle ground on one hand and wrote fluffy letters about "not one more nickel" on the other. The company has been walking all over labor for decades preaching "middle ground"..

News flash. There is no middle ground. Management ALWAYS wants labor to back up 1,000 yards and then declare that if they come forward 500, then they have "won" the middle ground. Until labor in this country realizes they have already peaked and the only thing left is to HOLD the line, then they will keep backing up....

...until they finally react like labor in Greece... it will come.. mark it down on your calendar for reference.

I don't quite get where that rant came from as its non sequitur to the preceding posts.

And you still have failed to answer the question I have asked you twice.

"We will neither cease nor buckle and our adversaries should clearly understand that our commitment to our collective futures will endure regardless of what is thrown at us."

Said the guy making more coin than his peers and working from home.

Leading from the rear and opening his Christmas presents at home on the 25th.

Nice.

"ALPA's massive budget problems appear to have caused their vaunted safety structure to be vastly cut back, leaving a void that we intend to promptly fill through our work at CAPA."

Wow!

ALPA has huge budget problems? And what about your budget problems there Mike?

And you want to fill that safety void? Ask Kubic to do it. Oh wait, you can't. He quit.

I understand Tracy Parella has a common law husband...former PIT ALPA LEC Captain Rep John Brookman. John was the author of one of US Airways' LOA 93 greivance major exhibits, which I believe certainly impacted Arbitrator Kasher's decision. Click here to read John's ALPA Council 94 letter with his recommendation the PIT pilots vote "no" on LOA 93 because the agreement contained "no snap backs."

So let me get this straight. Tracy and John live together, Tracy was charged with being the NC Notetaker for the LOA 93 negotiations, John wrote a letter to the PIT pilots recommending they vote "no" on LOA 93 because the agreement contained "no snap backs," and with this knowledge Tracy as the USAPA Grievance Committee Chairman filed a grievance without exhibits to support her claim. And, she took this action that many believe mislead the pilots knowing full well her common law husband had written official union correspondence that was the key piece of evidence that caused the union to lose the arbitration and she as the NC Notetaker, had no evidence to refute John's letter.

The emotional losses created by USAPA are resonating throughout the pilot group. I could be wrong, but I find these actions irresponsible and hurtful to thousands of good people.

At least Tracy gets either the LOA 95 pay or Pay+Stipend, whichever is higher. And, F/O Parella has apparently parlayed her position to provide a 46.7% pay increase.

Click here to read the story.

That's not too bad of gross pay for a person who is not a Captain and personally had the LOA 93 negotiating notes or lack thereof in her possession with her husband indicating there were "no (LOA 93) snap backs" in an official union letter when she personally filed the LOA 93 grievance.

You do realize that the "middle ground" that Cleary so lamentingly proclaims not to exist is between the West, (AOL) and Himself don't you? Cleary tried to mediate with Ferguson and Ferguson basically told him to SIUHFA...like he should have. This maniac is casting blame in 360 degrees and is as desperate as they come. He thinks he's in a Holy War because only a Mad Man would draft such a crazy letter to his "union" which he clearly differentiates as His EAST Pilots and the West are the "others" that will be sold down river at any given opportunity because of the weakness of their contractual "language".

This guy is an absolutely, bat SH** Crazy lunatic with a key board. What union President has to address the internal "Treachery" of other elected officials in EVERY SINGLE COMMUNICATION? Mike Cleary is F'ing crazy. He's paranoid of psychological warfare, turn coats, and the EVP who was not sufficiently punished as his own Narcissism demands. I love him!!! The East wanted a shot at evading that which can never be evaded. They get Mike Cleary....the lunatic of lunatics running a union.

COULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED TO A MORE DESERVING BUNCH!!!!

"I recognize that many of us are discouraged by the loss of the LOA 93 arbitration. But as with any other setback that we have endured, we must evaluate our struggle continuously to determine if the battles are worth the fight. Our answer must be a resounding yes. We cannot contemplate failing to demand justice in contract compliance, Management's compliance with the RLA to bargain fairly, or in our fight for a fair seniority agreement. Make no mistake about it; this is a war against our rights and basic dignity that is being waged both internally and externally by people who desperately want something from you. These people are not at all hard to identify -- those who have interests diametrically opposed to our own, such as the seniority issue, and those who openly align with them. Unfortunately, there is no middle ground being offered by our opposition on any front, so there is simply no question of which side of the battles to be on. We will neither cease nor buckle and our adversaries should clearly understand that our commitment to our collective futures will endure regardless of what is thrown at us. In the end, the resolve of the pilots of USAPA will prevail and our once proud Company will appropriately recognize and repay our pilots for the massive contribution that we have all made to ensure the success of US Airways going forward.

Despite setbacks and distractions, we must remain focused on our goals and rededicate ourselves to attaining those goals. I know you will join with me as we work together to achieve the justice that each member of this organization rightfully deserves."

Sincerely,

Captain Mike Cleary
If a turd had words as it went down the drain...

So many easties jumping ship. So many easties giving up and willing to accept the Nic.

Time have changed and Cleary's tone proves this. He sees the end is near.

He has now resorted to threatening his own pilots.

I think you are mischaracterizing the situation, as you usually do.

While there is increasing disenchantment with Cleary and USAPA on the east, there is little change in stance on the NIC. Absent enough money from Parker to make the Nic list financially fair, the east would still vote "NO" on a contract that contains Nic.

The meltdown at USAPA has nothing at all to do with the Nic mess. It is 100% personality and politically driven.

RUMOR RUMOR - Read all about it. And take it for what it's worth.

Parker has submitted an application to the FAA for separate certificates. The former west operation goes to JetBlue and the east merges with/acquires AA. Financing supplied by Buffet and Gates, with Lakefield acting as financier.

If this even approaches the truth, the west would be sitting pretty. JetBlue is a well run outfit and treats their pilots very well. The east goes from the SLI battle to facing the APA with what is clearly a dysfunctional and weak union.

I say again. It's just an unsubstantiated rumor.

Merry Christmas to all here.

Seriously K? You're going to actually propagate that garbage?

Come on.

No.

The disenchantment with Cleary stems from the fact that LOA 93 is a reality and USAPA has don't NOTHING for the east.

So, with LOA 93 coming and no way around Nic, the east are moving off the no Nic stance and are now willing to accept it with the right contract. Cleary sees this happening and thats the reason for his recent message.

Your resolve is now limited to a few hundred radicals.

Its over boo boo.

Most rumor is garbage. That doesn't stop most of us on both sides from engaging in spreading it, both here and at work.

I do so rarely, but seems like a slow news week.

Mea Culpa
