It's Your Union...Time to Take it Back!; December 20, 2011
Yes Boys and Girls, it’ sad but true... the Grinch has stolen Pilot Christmas from you!
He is not bringing you a pay raise and a win on LOA 93, we have lost.
He has you under an injunction for a job action by your union that we cannot win and cannot afford the millions more required to defend. It will soon be made a permanent injunction by Judge Conrad in North Carolina.
He may be laughing all the way down the chimney if we get thrown out of court in New York, the law suit that Mike Cleary was told not to file by our former counsel.
He is also likely to put coal in the stockings of the Negotiating Advisory Committee. It appears that our negotiations may soon be “parked” by the NMB. This means no real progress is being made and the NMB has decided to let the parties sit idly by.
He has you back in court again which is now where it appears that your seniority will be decided. Not to worry, with appeals, it should only take another three or four years!
He can’t get along with anyone in Whoville, and still has four hundred grievances outstanding.
How’s it going so far?
Are you mad? So what! Who cares! The Grinch doesn't care and don’t expect Doug Parker to put a bonus in your stocking. Your union, under the direction of Mike Cleary, has been throwing rocks for the past three years, and all at your expense. If you want a contract you have to negotiate for it. To negotiate does not mean to alienate everyone you come into contact with and then file lawsuits against most of them. Negotiating for a contract does not mean alienating and disparaging other work groups and professional associations that we need to be working with every day. Negotiating does not mean forcing dedicated committee chairman, officers and BPR members to resign simply because they cannot endure the misguided Machiavellian attempts to rule our union by our current president.
We are desperate need of new leadership that understands the concept of mutual respect. It’s all in the art of the deal. There is no art in throwing rocks; it’s so easy even a cave man can do it. The choice is yours. You can continue to allow your current president to throw rocks or you can join us in supporting Gary Hummel for USAPA president and look forward to a happier holiday next year.
Sincerely,
Committee for a better USAPA
