US Airways-America West Pilot JNC Contract, What USAPA Gave Up, Part 8 of 9: January 17, 2012

Dear Subscriber,

Update for January 17, 2011

Quick Fact #221: In the fall of 2007 the ALPA JNC was incrementally completing sections of the new post-merger pilot joint contract. One important section being finalized was the company provided 401(k) retirement plan. To read the company's September 25, 2007 401(k) proposal to the JNC elect "Link to Article" in the subsequent paragraph. USAPA has not completed this contract section and last week the NAC informed the membership that following the January 27, 2012 negotiating session "further NMB mediated sessions for subsequent months appear to be unlikely." Has the time come for US Airways' pilots to seek a new direction and new representation by the only national union that represents major airline pilots?

But many will accept it with a raise and new work rules.

uhaul, serious question, no right or wrong answer. If there was a new contract sitting on the table and it was based on the west contract with DL rates, and improved DC contributions, min fleet and better scope, but DOH, would you vote for it?

I guess you don't spend enough time on the hangar, of the AWPPA board. ;-)

Did you hear about the east guy that asked for jumpseat and then proceeded to dismember a kitten and eat it for lunch? He had just pushed over a nun in the gate area too.
Ask around Pi. The truth will set you free.

Taking pictures of an allegedly contaminated wing and not presenting your concerns to a member of the crew pretty much implicated him as well.

Like I said, it went no where as a result.

Pi,

I agree that DOH should not have been a mandate, I have always thought that it leaves no flexibility. Now, to see that the new mandate would mandate the unmodified NIC, we are right back where we are today. It's just swinging from one end of the spectrum to the other.....too many East pilots will not accept that kind of mandate.

I'd like to see them back a candidate that says they will let the legal system sort it out, as I feel that is what is going to happen and it doesn't attach either side's agenda.

No hair Pi, I wouldn't.

I'm not on LOA93 either.

Ask who uhaul? People like you? If you have the pilots contact that it allegedly happened to, pass it on. Otherwise, no thanks. I'm not from Missouri, but still kind of a show me type of guy. For what it's worth, I generally disregard the horror stories I hear about westies too.

USAPA Legal Update: January 17, 2012

PHX Declaratory Judgment Action Schedule Change

The dates for submitting both initial and responding papers in the Phoenix Declaratory Judgment action currently pending before Judge Silver of the United States District Court for the District of Arizona have been changed to January 27 and February 21. The postponement was requested by lawyers for US Airways because of a death in the family of the attorney principally responsible for drafting the Company's papers. The motion and the order signed by Judge Silver are posted in the Legal Library.

I did hear USAPA is going to amend it's C&BL's so it can barbecue puppies at BPR meetings.

If it's in the C&BLs it must be legal.

No!

Would you vote for the same contract with Nicolau?

How are disenfranchising one group who participated in the process and abiding by the decision of an arbitrator two ends of the same spectrum? One is right and one is wrong. Two completely different spectra.

I understand the disappointment that the east feels about not getting the decision they wanted, but there is a limit to the mourning of such a loss. It is now time to move on.

Why even consider such an outlandish question? USAPA cannot produce anything near what you describe. They have destroyed the credibility of this pilot group and it will take many years to regain it with the folks with whom they will negotiate. You can't ignore the crater left behind by Cleary and his gang nor can anyone who has failed to try and stop him avoid guilt by association.

Every pilot who sat there and watched the BPR rubber stamp Cleary's agenda and shook there head, but did nothing, is guilty and will pay the price with a substandard career going forward.

Is it still the best money you ever spent?
