US Pilots Labor Discussion

Taking pictures of an allegedly contaminated wing and not presenting your concerns to a member of the crew pretty much implicated him as well.
I heard that story a while ago from a West crew.

The idiot should have been fired for endangering the flight or lying.

I also heard an East pilot was taking pictures of the radar dispay claiming the West pilots flew through thunderstorms.

Would this be the same guy?

If you were junior on the east list and never furloughed, I'm sorry about what happened. Where you were placed on the list was not fair in my opinion. I don't think I should have been placed above you and if I could change it I seriously would.

BC,

Than you for your candor. Am one of those guys.
Am certain that most in my range wanted no " gain " from merge at west expense. We have a long history of merge/right sizings that resulted in keeping us at bottom with mid 80's hiring bubble and furloughs. It's as simple as wanting to realize the multi decade attrition we've been forced to wait on.

uhaul, serious question, no right or wrong answer. If there was a new contract sitting on the table and it was based on the west contract with DL rates, and improved DC contributions, min fleet and better scope, but DOH, would you vote for it?

I'd like to weigh in as well: NO.

USAPA's sole reason for existence was to delay if not evade the Nicolau Seniority arbitration (as evidenced by court documents and testimony). The use of any DOH seniority list will most assuredly trigger another DFR case against USAPA (and if the courts agree, against US Airways). As such, a DOH seniority list has NO legal grounds to be in section 22 of our negotiated contract.

Thus, until the courts rule what is required of LCC (and what liability they shoulder if something other than the Nicolau seniority list is used)....we stand at an impasse as created by those people that chose to not abide by and accept the final product of a process that all three parties agreed upon.

After the courts make their decision (and USAPA appeals....of course), then the company and USAPA will have to negotiate a tentative agreement that both parties believe should be put to a vote (and IMHO, will include an unrestricted Nicolau seniority list as prescribed by law and common sense).

The question remains, as we approach our National Officer elections, how many East pilots tire of the circus that we now call USAPA? If enough of them do tire and wish to move on to a new contract, then the choice for new USAPA leadership (while painful) is the logical choice. If emotion, angst, turmoil & in some cases utter despise drive your decision (and you wish to work under LOA 93 for the rest of your careers), then vote to keep things humming along they do now.

No!

Would you vote for the same contract with Nicolau?

I would do what I have said before that I would do. I would take a look at the offer, do the math, judge the landscape and vote yes or no based on first was best for me and my family, then my co-workers.

You don't have to do any of that, do you? You know that the Nic is such a huge win and windfall that there is not a contract in the world that can make up for the loss. Right?

Nope. The Nic is the result of an agreement between east and west. It's the fairest integration between our two groups.

Now man up and take responsibility for your agreements.

Since we are sharing stories let me share a few I heard while I was in school recently. West pilots taking pictures of east crews in bars. West crews videoing an F/O doing a walk around. Then, there was this guy named Paul Bunyan........

Why even consider such an outlandish question?
Is it still the best money you ever spent?

I made a bet. I won.

I never said that. But, even though USAPA may have started the fire, there were west pilots standing in line to throw fire on it. Every snicker about LOA 93 and the injunction caused old AL to lower the bar. Good job! You guys are almost as good.

Surprise! I agree. Let's see what the courts say.

Now, a few months ago, I asked for the plan going forward. I don't remember any answers. So do you know of one? Let's say that Judge Silver rules in such a way that removes any chance of a DOH list. What do we do then? How do we repair the damage this pilot group has done to each other?

Here's one I heard from the Captain husband of the Flight Attendant who was there.

East Captain does the walk around in CLT then grounds the airplane in one of the islands for two days for missing screws.

The lists of nominees for national office is out. Wow, are they long! Now I guess we see who is willing to run.

Jake, come on. The husband.....of a F/A. Not the pilots, not the actual F/A, but his/her husband?

Questions: What screws were they? Were they critical? How come MOC couldn't come up with relief in less than 2 days? I don't know of anywhere we fly that doesn't have a mechanic of some kind there.

Stop believing in fairy tales. I gave you more credit than that.
