For all of you ALPO fans...including Mr. Chippy...Very interested in hearing your opinions on this little tidbit:

Yeah but cactus boy keeps trying to tell us how to think and feel....

I don't see any election changing anything and the east attrition is about to kick in big time.... I've been places where you move up 15 numbers a month.... Moral improves big time with that movement... Better schedules and upgrades for many

Oooooh, I haven't heard that little gem in about 10 posts. BTW,

  • MORALE: (noun) emotional or mental condition with respect to cheerfulness, confidence, zeal, etc., especially in the face of opposition, hardship, etc.: the morale of the troops.
  • MORAL: (adjective) of, pertaining to, or concerned with the principles or rules of right conduct or the distinction between right and wrong; ethical: moral attitudes.

To use these descriptive terms in statements: "Boy, Oh Boy! I'm so happy that I'm getting my Captain's seat! To think that I was furloughed 6 years ago and working at Walmart. I really doesn't bother me that I'll be making only $125.00 an hour for what many pilots at majors get $165 to $180 an hour for. As long as I can screw the former AWA pilots out of the unfair Nicolau Award!" Date of Hire! Date of Hire!"

While MORALE may be high, your group seems to lack general MORALITY for failing to keep your word and persecuting / penalizing the smaller group at any possible opportunity. IMHO.

Just back from flying. Bunch of full airplanes and lots of jump seaters.

Some election discussion came up here and there. Everybody seemed to agree the east is open to finding a way to move forward. However none would even discuss the possibility of that way being anything that included NIC unmodified. Basically if any T/A included NIC it was an automatic no.

My guess is the Minimum required to get a Yes vote on a NIC contract would be $120 right seat little bus, $165ish left seat little bus and industry standard widebody rates. Doug would rather strip naked and run into Sheriff Joes tent city yelling racial slurs than pay anything close to industry standard. So we are where we are for the forseeable future.

Though the thought of Doug being chased by a couple hundred angry convicts in pink jumpsuits through the desert is good for a snicker or two! 🙂

Basically if a TA does not include the Nic, it ain't moving forward. So, the first bold paragraph is contradictory of itself.

The second bold sentence is why Doug did his time in the women's jail. The point being, you may be surprised what he is willing to do.

Just so ya know, there are West pilots who will file suit if anything other than the Nic is used, without regard to financial consequences, just on a matter of principle. i.e. there are West pilots who would forgo a lavish increase, just to stick it to both usapa and the company.

I just saw the latest crew news in PHX. Doug Parker must really think you West guys are idiots. He can quote what Judge Silver said but claims to have no knowledge what HIS OWN attorney told Silver...he's also quick to remind everyone that the Permanent Injunction courtesy of the Worlds Dumbest Union applies every bit to the West Pilots...hmmm

So I guess he DOES know that there is just ONE union and in reality there really IS NO ONE else to compromise with over the Nic. situation. Parker needs to be hit with the proverbial 2x4 for insulting everybody's intelligence with such B.S. USAPA and the East Pilots dealt him a Royal Flush and he's used it to drain every last penny from all of you. I just wish he's be a man about it, and simply tell the truth instead of playing dumb and hoping nobody else notices.

Yup. There is one bargaining agent for all Airways pilots, i.e. no more East MEC and West MEC. $eham needed to roll all pilots under the umbrella of a single agent in order to rid themselves of the separate ratification to strip the minority of any say in what was negotiated. Now, the problem was that $eham knew what that his plan exposed both the union and the company to liability under a hybrid DFR theory. He knew that the company lawyers were smart enough to realize this potential liability, hence the inducement to the company of a "cost neutral" contract. In essence, he tried to get the company to bite off on assuming some risk in return for getting a pilot contract at basement cost.

How'd that work out?

Now we have one agent representing one giant melting pot of pilots. The union owes a duty to fairly represent all subgroups in that melting pot. There is a possibility that other contract provisions could have been negotiated to benefit the East as a consequence of East concerns over the Nicolau, but that was only possible under the separate MEC set-up; in that arrangement the West would've had their own agent. Selling a DFR in that case would be tough, but mind you the that's exactly what the TWA pilots did so I'm skeptical that ALPA or the company would have been comfortable doing much more than accommodating East angst but through contract terms such as payscales, etc. Now all of that is moot since USAPA eliminated the West's separate agent; the legal ramification of eliminating the West MEC is that there is no agent that can bind the West as a group. The West is no longer its own group, but a subgroup under the umbrella of USAPA. Hence, there is no barrier against a West filed DFR, and the company knows it.

What does attrition do for the guys that are leaving? Don't you think the pilots that create the opening would like to leave with something other than a kick in the ass from a greedy F/O?

I would not say 9 retirements in 2012 is big time attrition.
I went up about 40 numbers in the last year... and no one retired. And nobody was kicked by any F/Os.
