You gotta be kidding?

Thanks for the laugh! It is true it is excessive but it does work.

sky high states: I always thought that it was the LANGUAGE that needed changed.

F/A's states: "Prepare for departure".
A more positive command would be: ARM YOUR DOORS FOR DEPARTURE.
Same with arrival: "DISARM YOUR DOORS FOR ARRIVAL.
There's NO CONFUSION because you're being told your action!

Same with response over the PA system: 2L 2R.
Add your action by saying, 2L and 2R ARMED OR DISARMED.

Again, your saying your actions!

Also, when all else fails---> BIG HANDLE, BIG TROUBLE!!!!

You know, the hell with senority!! The hell with loyalty to the company!! I am so sick and tired of the constant whining from WEST PEOPLE!!! I have stayed with this company as a loyal employee. The junior puke do NOT care or respect senority, Well, listen lil ones, some day YOU will get your 20 yr pin and will feel proud that you gave 20 yrs of DEDICDATED AND LOYAL service. Your 2-7 yrs means NOTHING!!! SORRY, I AM BEING HONEST!! PAINT ME THE DEVIL, BUT YES, I AM entittled to more than some 1 or 2 yr f/a and even a 10 yr f/a. F :censored: pay your dues in years and come to me about what you THINK you are owed. This is NOT about entitlement but what is fair. I was once a new hire as well and I'll be DAMNED if some snotnosed 20 yr old should go before me on ANYTHING as a 44 yr old. If you don't like it, work somewhere else.

Exactly... you were once "junior puke" and a 20 something! So show some respect to get some in return, spitting and insulting on they junior people as a "whole" does not help things or your cause and point. After all w/ out all the "snotnosed" 20 somethings nobody would be picking up the garbage trips you don't want and covering your sick calls when you don't feel like coming in or can't cause your commutiable flight cancelled... It's nasty attitudes like yours that create the disrepsect in the FIRST place. Just a side note, they WEST policies are part of there culture and the way things work over there, just LIKE EAST policies and culture is different, just because both ways are night/day doesn't make them wrong. Yes senority is certainly an entitlement, but don't disrepect half of the f/a work force as a whole because they haven't braved it out 20+years, maybe you should be the one working somewhere else.

The reason this is NOT the language we use is because of the word 'ARMED'...it's considered to be a bit unnerving for PAXs to hear.

Amen brother!!!!!

I went to the class this past Saturday. Instructors were very nice and there was a good group of people in the class. It went fast and was interesting.

I think A will go very junior come May 1 when they have to be the one to wait on board with thru pax.

With the new troop deployment, we could get CRAF back. Lots of senior mamas NOT qualified on 767 and 330. Those trips have fantastic extra long RONs in Europe.
yeah, that's just what an 18 year old GI wants to see, 50+ year old flight attendants before they go off to war. Vietnam might have been bad, but at least there were smokin young stewardesses in hot pants taking them to Saigon.

sky high states: Unnerving? NON-SENSE.

Here is some information that hopefully clear up some of the issues on the merger training. All changes to policy and procedures on the East take effect on May 1.

1-Pilots on the East will no longer be able to fill in for a flight attandent. Current policy pilots can fill in. You might see this on an exam!

2-Yes, the A will be the FA that remains on board on a thru flight and completes the seconday cabin check. Also will have to remain onboard with thru pax. I would suggest that since this is a contractual issue contact your AFA MEC to address the issue with inflight management. The A FA can leave the aircraft when the replacement crew/crewmember arrives.

3-All aircraft doors will be armes/disarmed before all depatures and arrivals. Arrival procedures for aircraft doors will us team/self monitor and challenge. Which in theory is just a modification of current procedure stop, think, disarm.

4-To answer/clearify the rumor of do West FAs get terminated if they blow a slide is that since monitor and challenge began in 2005 NOFA has been terminated! General rule is that if you are on probation you will most likely be terminated. As for a line/block holder termination most likely depend on you file and other factors involved with the ISD. Hope this puts you fears to ease on the East.

5-The instructors did not write the merger program. It was written the development team in PIT and inflight instrs. in PHX. All policy and procedure changes were developed by a transition team. All policy and procdures have been in discussion between east and west transition teams and the FAA cabin safety insp.since May 2006.

6-NO!!!!one is superior to the other. East FAs and West FAs are equal. Yes, there are many differences regarding contactual issues which cause tension between East and West. I would hope both AFA MEC's are working to change this issue. If we want a good contract now is the time to stop trashing each other and start woking together to achieve a good contract.

I hope this clears up a few issues. Are there changes that we do not like? Of course there are. Do we have a choice on what happens? Most likely not,but can send our opinions and suggestions to the email that is given to all FAs on all training material sent out to our crews. Instructors can only pass on the information but, you have to power.

Change is not always an easy process. As FAs we are a strong and resiliant group. Together East and West FAs can make USAirways the best airline to fly!!! Please keep an open mind on the changes and always FLY SAFE!!!

Great read Multi. Does anyone know what changes are being made in the West training? Heard its all new commands for them? Anything else? What about trips built with the pilots vs changing pilots and a/c on all trips?

With what I have read here, few with 0-10 yrs have stated little to DESERVE respect. 😉

Oh yah, and this forum is as much an accurate cross section of people with 0-10 years as it is of "loyal 44 year olds".....
