Disagree W,

As stated by many and the other excuse for the lethargic approach to negotiations, this could be one of the most important contract negotiations in many of our careers. So right now, the members are the "Associations" number one priority. I would love to see my family on holidays, weekends, evenings, but I knew that loss was a possibility when I voluntarily hired on, Likewise, these reps are paid (well I might add) and knew family time could/would be scarce in some situations. Can't think of a more important "situation" in many of our lives. As for other responsibilities, you have plenty of Chairmen, E-Board and Stewards to absorb many of the issues. Finally, the "at each others throat" is extremely lame. If that was something I had to worry about with my reps, the lack of control and professionalism, replace them all. I don't need children negotiating my contract. Nothing less than meetings around the clock are unacceptable. Their actions, or the lack thereof is affecting thousands and thousands of lives. Right now, negatively!
You seem to be only refrencing the structure of the TWU in your comment. Do you know or understand how the structure works for the IAM? There are two groups that are involved in putting these meetings together and the responsibilities of the elected reps on that negotiating Comittee may be quite different then how the other one operates?

Its contract negotiations not the Malta conference

And you make the perfect point of exactly why the Ass was a mistake...sorry W, nothing personal, but every once a while you're wrong in defending this mess! I will say I have no clue about their structure, but the "family" and "at throat" comment would pertain to both...excuses!

Disclaimer: my remarks/comments are not agenda driven.  B)

There are actually six contracts to combine.

true but Fleet has a neg committee which should not be concerned about the other two. If I thought the delays were because they are I;d be outraged

Just curious to know if the TWU uses an electronic balloting process? The IAM is still back in the 70s when it comes to this. Hopefully this will change in the near future.

I said "could" wind up at each others throats. I know if you'd try to lock me up in a room for that long with the work they need to do I'd need a few valiums. (Quite a few probably)

And of course you have an agenda. You want this to be over and vote on the finished product. But do you really want some type of haphazard, half assed product for them to go to the company with? After waiting this long to get to where we are is that really what you want?

At least AA has a CEO who wants to get the merger done.
I expect Parker will try to follow Delta and not go down the road he was done at US and the road UA has gone done. Not sure Wall street will put up with it.
I have seen no evidence of this. Parker talks a big game but his actions as far as the TWU goes have been nil, nothing. I have nothing to show for the gains the company has made from bankruptcy. Parker talked a big game in his town halls and I watched and believed because I saw what he said was going to happen with other work groups happen. I began to feel this would be a good place to work again, maybe stay longer, past the age I could retire. But when it comes to my work group what he said would happen, none of it has, therefore he is a liar with regards to my work group period. In fact, he has now back tracked on 2 key things, he went back on the 4% and never gave it to us as he did with all other work groups and he has backtracked on DL+7 to DL+3, which I think is blowing smoke up my ass anyway.

I have lost faith in him as our CEO and no longer watch his town halls and have gone back to being disappointed and frustrated with the whole mess and will likely leave as soon as I can.

Thats why it is a confict of interest to have one union cover all work groups (dont give me the different local B/S) The fact that the TWU covers MTC,fleet and Envoy they would have no problem  shifting MTC work to fleet (pushbacks) Fleet work to Envoy (70 seat aircraft). TWU gets the dues no matter what

It is wrong, at this point, that they are not prepared. Disappointing that neither side apparently can put egos aside as members are now losing out.

regards,
Tim  what in your opinion is going on  with the negotiations? If the ASS was having trouble with the company I would understand. but it seems they are having trouble with each other. Is there an international president or someone who can step in at this point and get the ball rolling possibly replacing some of these people?

And its quite apparent you dont know how CBAs work, you have to vote on changes.

Work cant just be shifted.
