I hope you believe that, I really do. Better tell your friend to go back to school. Especially on the part of decertifying.

Once again, it takes 50%+1 of ALL ELIGIBLE PILOTS to mail a card in. If the cards stand up to the expected challenges and are proven true, the NMB will call for an election.

You must have 50%+1 of all eligible pilots cast a ballot. The winner of the dercert is simple majority. 50%+1 of the votes cast. Repeat, 50%+1 of all eligible pilots must cast a ballot to elect or re-elect a bargaining rep.

Finally, If LESS than 50%+1 of all eligible pilots cast a vote, you will have decertification and NO union representation. Check out the NMB website link that BoeingBoy posted on one of the closed threads addressing this subject.

I have said this multiple times on different threads. It is easier to decertify ALPA than it is to get an election. Think about it.
 
I am now forming a new opinion on Nic. If it lives I win. If it dies, I win again. Beginning to like my odds and still get a new union out of it. Ask me again later when new information becomes available.

BTW, why does the insect continue to toss the canard of "DOH without conditions and restrictions"? I don't think anyone wanted straight up DOH.
 
I wish you guys would read my posts. There will be no base reps. Thats easy. Now, your block reps will have approximately 300 pilot constiuents. Those pilots could come from one base, or all bases. That is how all pilots are represented. I have said before, every one will be represented. It's your choice to either participate or not. This is not ALPA representation by seat position or base. Quite simple really. Is that what you can't figure out? I have posted this before.

Why now? Once again it's simple. Unity. For the first time in 20 years this pilot group is more unified than it ever has been. My reason for supporting USAPA is to see ALPA removed from the property. So why now again? USAPA only gets one shot a year at NMB filing. Why waste it? Look how we're doing? Oh that's right, you already know we only have a small minority of cards. Please keep thinking that.

You bring up a good point. No one in the new union wants any one pilot disadvantaged, ever. Realize, too, that if the blocks are arraigned by seniority (DOH, for instance), that some, if not many blocks will be encompassed within the normal bounds of the westies, PHX and LAS areas, allowing name-recognized individuals from those areas to "lead". What you fear would only occur with the use of the "nic".

Please ask someone on the new website to ask that very question and report back with the answers, or do it all yourself.

I think transparency is the name of the game with the new union. Try it.

You will have a say. On all matters that would affect all pilots, you will be given a vote. No backroom deals, no subterfuge and no more sellouts by a few in leadership.

Under ALPA your "say" only counts as long as it is not counter to Nationals policy and objectives. Why would anybody want to stay in a system and organization that cares more about itself than it does for its constituents? Please explain why you would want to do that? Or is the warm fuzzy of having someone else make decisions for you to hard to give up? USAPA needs and wants everyone to participate.

The relevant point that you are wrong about is the number of USAPA votes it will take to for USAPA to be the bargaining agent. It is as little as 1,151 (with your numbers). It could be higher. It all depends on how many vote. So again, your number for USAPA to prevail is wrong. How uncharacteristic. :shock:

Who's numbers are you refering to? I didn't post them, Junebug did. And they were/are wrong. But don't take my word for it, check them out again. Strange reply to my quote you used.

I'm sorry AAA73 I just can't get with your program. You guys only seek to get out of your obligation of a binding arbitration and will stop at nothing to get your way. Funny thing is you have been treated like crap by management for years and now you wish to changes representation. If you had gotton DOH and made this request I could maybe respect it but as it is not I can not and will do everything in my power to see that you fail. Sorry it's come to that bro as my energy would better be served fighting management and not my fellow pilots however you made the rules not me...

BottomF, I agree with you in a lot of things. Probably more than you might think.

That ALPO is a political organization that sometimes could be flawed, that its only purpose is to exist. That the way National "controls" or attempts to every council for the "organization" well being or "survival". An overpaid and inept president, among others. An organization that does NOT knows what binding is (lets forget about that one 🙄 )

I will dump ALPO in a heartbeat, as I was involved w/ the AWAPA drive that gave National a huge headache.

But here's my take. It is "The Leaders" that we put in charge that can and will make the difference. The ones that we can trust to make the right decisions, represent us and be true pilot advocates. Remember that a UNION is what you make out of it!

So UZAPA or AWAPA or IAM or Teamsters? It will not make a difference as long as we elect the same leaders. Some are spineless, some don't have a clue on how to play politics, and some others are just inept, so regardless of the vehicle, we need good drivers.

Remember that dumping ALPO will not change what WE have right now. Will not change what YOUR leaders have negotiated for you, agreed upon. Get those that make the decisions for you, to WORK for you. But they need to be educated, use all the resources and legal advise available to be effective, to achieve YOUR goals.
