BottomF, I agree with you in a lot of things. Probably more than you might think.
That ALPO is a political organization that sometimes could be flawed, that its only purpose is to exist. That the way National "controls" or attempts to every council for the "organization" well being or "survival". An overpaid and inept president, among others. An organization that does NOT knows what binding is (lets forget about that one
🙄 )
I will dump ALPO in a heartbeat, as I was involved w/ the AWAPA drive that gave National a huge headache.
But here's my take. It is "The Leaders" that we put in charge that can and will make the difference. The ones that we can trust to make the right decisions, represent us and be true pilot advocates. Remember that a UNION is what you make out of it!
So UZAPA or AWAPA or IAM or Teamsters? It will not make a difference as long as we elect the same leaders. Some are spineless, some don't have a clue on how to play politics, and some others are just inept, so regardless of the vehicle, we need good drivers.
Remember that dumping ALPO will not change what WE have right now. Will not change what YOUR leaders have negotiated for you, agreed upon. Get those that make the decisions for you, to WORK for you. But they need to be educated, use all the resources and legal advise available to be effective, to achieve YOUR goals.
