AFA labor discussion (Work related)

The above post sums it up best! Be in base like any other flight attendant when working. Go home on your days off. If there is an emergency the technology is there to make sure you take care of business. Be responsible with the flight attendants dues. If you do commute get a crash pad like any other commuter does. This is an expense that a regular commuter would have to pay, so why should union dues be funding it? Just because your Constitution says it is fine does not make it right. As has been shown time and time again, some leaders are picking and choosing which sections of the Constitution to follow on a given day. It is suppose to be protecting the membership not the leadership.

Okay "be in base like any other F/A when working." If the LECP gets paid 100 hours per month like JM did at 5 hours per day then the LECP should be in base 20 days per month. You can't keep a true finger on the pulse of things in base just using modern technology and working from home where you have the distraction of family and obligations from your life. When you are getting paid by the union to do union work, you should be in base in that office. The other 10 days are yours to fly or do whatever but when you are getting paid by our dues, be in that office or at meetings doing work on our behalf.....and that does not include sitting in the comfort of your own home in another state banging on your computer. Just my opinion

Not to say that other union leaders haven't participated in crew news sessions but Deb shows up MF like Cher performing at the Celine Dion theater at Caesar's Palace!

So, where is everyone ?? Why aren't people voting? Everyone was hounded enough to sign petitions in the crew room and now is there chance to make their voice heard yet again. Only 26% of people have voted ? Geez, I wonder how many will even vote in the upcoming election. What a sad group of members we have 🙁

Yes, I believe you are now back to normal. I do not understand why people loose interest so quickly. Politics get old quick I guess. Problem also is you have the regular elections coming up soon so a lot of people say why bother. Others might be thinking it matters not who is in office because they are all the same from a historical perspective. Hope in the end it all works itself out.

Polls closed today regarding the recall election of Council 70 Officers in PHL.

The recall of the LEC President was 343 votes FOR recall and 308 AGAINST recall.
The recall of the LEC Vice President was 350 votes FOR recall and 301 AGAINST recall.
The recall of the LEC Secretary was 336 votes FOR recall and 312 AGAINST recall.

You LEC officers are recalled as of today. MEC President Mike Flores will call a special meeting of the MEC for tomorrow, Friday, April 1 and the voting members of the MEC (CLT and DCA LEC Presidents) will select your new Council temporary officers.

There were 1,947 eligible voters and only 651 people voted, or 33% of the base.

and so we're taking the union back ??? Keep in mind, the game is still the same but now there will be different players. The company is still only offering 1996 wages and is unwilling to negotiate in good faith. I truly wonder how much will seriously change and in 3 years everyone will be biotching about who just got voted in because they are unable to change things. Just my opinion.

I am really hoping that when a contract comes for ratification that more than 33% of the f/a's vote.

Whether you were against the Recall or For the recall.....only 33% of the base took 5 minutes out of their month to vote. Come on flight attendants.....we gotta to better than that!

To me, your theory seems flawed. If so many were so fed up with "the BS of the Whole Witch Hunt!", one would think they would be voting against the recall in droves.
