AFA labor discussion (Work related)

LATEST FROM AFA ELECTION INFORMATION
Due to a power failure in Portland Oregon and a computer update malfunction, the BallotPoint activation code system was down from Saturday 4-23-11 1200 PDT to today 4-25-11 at approximately 0730 PDT.

These circumstances were beyond our control and therefore we have extended the voting period to accommodate those who were unable to obtain their Voting Credentials.

The polls will now close on Monday May 2, 2011 at 1500 EDT.

No chance for anything hinky there! Computer update malfunction has file corruption written all over it. Sounds like if you already voted you should probably do it again cause there is a good chance your info might be missing. This is why I think electronic voting is not a great thing. Paper has it's problems also but if they had a computer issue who knows if the data already stored is corrupt or not. Not in less there is a hard copy printed after each vote. I know you can store on multiple servers but it there is still problematic issues when you are talking computer here.

Not crying foul for a Charlotte type issue, just stating that there could potentially be a data issue that could skew results. AFA just can't seem to get the voting thing down though. Anyway, yet another interesting development.

Not to worry...it doesn't matter who wins and it doesn't matter if there was or wasn't a power outage, there will be a challenge to the results. It's the way it always is......

Computer update malfunction has connection issue written all over it instead. Didn't they say "power failure?" The update failure was more than likely because of the power failure. Not a file corruption.

Just go back and make sure your vote was tallied as you wanted it. No biggie.

What you said is probably correct. However, I would still go back as you suggest and check my vote if that is possible. Otherwise I would go with what I originally said and vote again. Of course if it was not correct I would make that known as other might not know about the situation which could effect the outcome of the vote!

Again, not crying conspiracy, just being abundantly cautious based on who we are dealing with and their recent history tied to voting.

I am so seriously NOT being a ball buster on this.

Whatever happened to the guerrilla theater we used to use in some of the anti war protests?

For a fund raiser the AFA could easily find a Private Label winery create "AFA Whine", Kirby Cabernet" and the light fruity summer beverage "Parker Punch". Hell customers and most employees would buy it even if it tasted like paint thinner just to flip the bird at management.

Where are the publicity stunts???

Like dumping a truckload of manure at the entrance to CHQ the morning after the next contract proposal.

This kind of stuff doesn't cost a lot and if done right generates TV time that could NEVER be afforded by the most well funded union. From where I sit it's way past time for action

I love this!

I love this!

Glad you like! Seriously though this kinda stuff works because Companies and Local Governments don't like to be criticized or made fun of in the media and this does both with the added benefit of drawing attention to your issues and in the case of F/A's perhaps fewer bookings.

Here's another idea:

The Mug shot from Doug's Unfortunate Incarceration is readily available and public record.

Think of the ways you could use that to raise money and draw attention to your plight. Imagine a series of "Wanted" posters featuring the Mug shot with slogans like this:

Wanted for impersonation of a CEO

Wanted For terminal cheapness

Stuff like that along with some specifics. Sell them off the AFA web Site, raise money and awareness all at the same time.

On the anniversary of his arrest you could get two F/A's in fake cop uniforms and do a fake perp walk with a doug look alike. You get a slow news day and promote this stuff you have an outside chance of the story going national. I'm telling you when you embarass them they get new hearing aids if you know what I'm sayting.

Mr Parker...
I have a question for you ???
Why do you get a pay increase of 7%.... ( 7% of millions....)
And you are offering me no increase? Oh... 3 % when Pref bid is implemented..
A small increase that we negated years ago in our concessionary contract...
Oh thank you Mr. Parker.... you will give it to me now instead of Jan 2012.

NO THANK YOU.... I will wait for 2012.... And just keep working under this
current contract. Cuz its better than you have anything to offer.

PS...
Here is the article for you about your new pay hike..

Well, I'm pretty disappointed in the results. You guys were so close to taking control of the union with PHL elections. I don't have high hopes for this crew at all. Terry is not a leader, and won't be able to take the lead at the MEC level when she is at the table. I've seen her in action, and she just doesn't cut the mustard on any level what so ever. Kim is a kiss ass for sure, and your only hope is Michael Elais, but as and LEC Sec. it will be hard for him to be heard to clear the entire MEC. Doubt this will ever happen.

Time will tell wether these folks will step up to the plate and do what is necessary to represent the f/as not just in their base, but make changes at the TABLE. If Graf and company contintue the "good ole boys club" , with the nuts who are currently running the asylum - you're in big trouble - for a very long time folks. Once again... "here we go again". cathy Campbell is too new and Mike will have his way. Diane's in DCA base is too small to vote to make change. Mark Gentile is a huge disappointment to me on as the MEC VP. He went to the "dark side" for sure. And that is a huge loss.

So, I have to ask what are the voting totals - shouldn't they have been published??? Transparency needed here.

Isn't anyone asking???? First time I haven't seen it published at all. what's up with this?

Any body care?????? Are you out there??????
