AFA labor discussion (Work related)

Usually means that a customer was "Flagged" or "cut Off" due to being visibly intoxicated and possibly being a jackass to the flight crew. His/Her subsequent behavior could have led to the Philadelphia Police Department (aka Philyl's Finest") being summoned to the gate.
Kirby? Police? FAs?

I had heard a rumor of this nature a while back. I dismissed it at the time as I thought something of this scope could not be kept a secret for long. Someone would eventually let something slip out. I have no idea if this is true or not, but it seems the quiet rumor has now raised the volume a bit. Just like any other rumor we should proceed with caution. But this one is sure to be of interest here.

That being said, maybe the upper management should be running a bar instead of an airline. Seems like a couple of them like cold ones. Of course a profitable business plan might be difficult to achieve if you are always sampling the merchandise. But, their BS is much more believable with a few drinks under the belt.

I thought this to be a fair tale but just maybe it does have legs. Seems there would be a public record if the Philly Blue did indeed respond to the aircraft though.

Not an attorney, however I think an arrest would have to be made in order to generate a public record. It would depend upon the PHL Police Dept. records retention policy.

I seem to recall a recent story regarding a US exec coming back from Europe S-faced and raising hell too. Like many I dismissed it. So now it looks like maybe there was something to it.

Tell her secrets, Yes! Hand over her notes, absolutely! Teach and instruct anyone, I think not. Then all you would have was a clone not named Carol!!!

Agreed BUT as long as the current system is in place we need someone who is capable of doing "what she does". As I said, and God forbid she were gone tomorrow nobody would have a clue as to what do do first. Actually when you think about it it's a pretty scary scenario.

As much as this seems like it could be plausible there is good reason to be skeptic as well. An airline employee reminded me of the fact that slapping a flight attendant would be a federal offense that could lead to a felony conviction. If convicted, it would bar said person by law from working for a company in the aviation industry. This is assuming that the charge was interference with a crew member. I am not sure how the law would work in other possible charges.

Also, if true there is no way they could quiet the whole crew on such an incident. Someone will eventually talk. The company would have a lot of questions to answer at that point. For instance, was there any pressure by anyone within the company for the flight attendant to not file charges? What flight attendant in their right mind would not file charges anyway? Even if no charges were filed and it happened it most certainly would be a violation of quite a few work and conduct rules in which the company would be obligated to do something about.

Not saying it did not happen. If it is true something will eventually have to surface. Maybe a press release stating that said person is " leaving to spend more time with the family and is pursuing other opportunities."

I hear ya. Sounds like the "Alligators" in the sewer urban legend type stuff. You're right about it coming out eventually. Sooner or later dead bodies and turds float. Shenanigans with politicians and business executives are similar in nature.

The good news is that people have slowly started to wake up. Of course your voter participation has remained a sticking point to real change. I hope that the voter participation was better this time around. I wonder as nobody has posted the numbers here yet. Seems "someone in the know" would have posted that here pretty quickly if they were high. Hopefully someone will share anyway.

Here it is:

Top 2 in each position & the votes for each
President: TG w/ 372 votes; LC 208
VP: KK w/420; RW 306
Sec/Treas: ME w/398; DS 360
Council Rep (2) elected so I'll list top 4:
RC 698, PH 522,
LR 211, BB 202.

There were 1969 eligible voters, for which 946 cast ballots, representing 48.0% of the eligible voters.
There were 13 ballots declared void.
Well here we go again. Just check out option 18 on catcrew and see where our Sec/Treas. gets to put his AFA days. You guessed it right smack in the middle of days on duty. Is our new LEC Pres. aware of this? Is this the change we were looking for? One can only guess what else is goin on.

I have been WAITING for this. Ok so he's reserve right? He's to be in the office to answer phones, grievances and put out petty fires day after day. So he's to sit in the office ON DUTY waiting to be called? Really? So when YOU Mr. Reserve are sitting at HOME watering your garden or in a crash pad watching Days Of Our Lives he's working. What a fool you are. He's working and doing what NEEDS TO BE DONE! ! ! ! He also is collecting 50 hours and NOT charging the council the full five hours per day. THAT my friend is the reason his days are placed where they are. You are so uneducated it's pathetic. Next topic.....

Guess someone doesn't read the emails AFA has sent out on these issue. They all are flying and trying to represent you with AFA monies allotted. The budget won't sustain full offline reps so are you looking at this persons screen just because they are junior and you can? What about the line holders in AFA since you have nothing better to do but arm chair quarterback. Maybe you should run and see how it works for you and how you can stay on budget. I think the poster above it right. Clueless moron that is probably the first one to call them when they screw up.

Post your concerns on Facebook, without hiding cowardly behind a screen name. I am sure the Sec/ Treas. will respond.

I do not see a problem whatsoever with someone that is a reserve working in the union office. That is what they were elected to do. Someone should be in the office during office hours at all times. I would assume that they split up the office duty time between them based on their given schedules. I also do not see a problem with union officials flying trips so long as the union work is getting done.

I disagree with a lot of things that take place inside your union but this one I do not so long as no abuse of the system is taking place. So on this one, I will have to agree with you. I think perhaps to keep everyone honest all you would have to do is give the members a break down every month of the officer pay and hours worked.
