AFA labor discussion (Work related)

I sure would like to know on what grounds this recall is being tried.

I am certainly in the camp that this would be absurd at the moment. However, I would point out that you don't have to have any grounds for this to take place. You just need a petition signed by 30% of the membership. Remember, we talked about this when your international leaders played fast and loose on the rules and how they tabulated the vote on the recall of Mr. Flores. I am shocked there was no more noise about that very issue at the time.

I just hope things can move forward and you don't end up bogged down in this political jockeying. Hopefully someone can remember why they are there and just represent the membership already! Don't waist too much time worrying about another recall. If the membership feels they are being represented then any recall talk will surely fizzle out.

My whole point here has been that the slates were wiped clean and we have the opportunity here to stand firm behind our new leadership. I was not implying that anyone on this board had posted anything negative regarding them. I was only expressing my deep frustration with things I have heard on the j/s. Quite frankly, I don't think any of these I refer to would be happy with anyone. They are dramatists and thrive on creating dissention. Don't fall for this type of manipulation. There is a reason for it. In fact, you will notice that if you just ask a question or two they generally back down, or cower away, with tail between legs.
We are all smart enough to know the HUGE victory that was notice to everyone that WE can and will stand together for what is right.
It's simply going to take time to get adjusted. It's kind of like cleaning out a dirty stable...it really stinks before the poop gets shoveled out, but once you get all the smelly straw and the excrement out and the new fresh straw in, well... smells pretty sweet.
Takes a lot of hard work but you can get it back in order. All I saying was that give these new guys/gals a chance to show their stuff. I, for one, think they are doing a great job so far.
And I want us all to show the Company we mean business in our negotiations. We must stand as one. I can not stress this enough. Put all of our energy into showing up for the events, meetings (including the crew news sessions), wear your AFA pin.

If any one would like to see what it looks like to get a raise, take a look at this:

Well that's certainly enough to piss off the Pope. I'm not sure what all this recall BS is about. Here's a clip from a movie that details the true story of the Matewan Massacre which led to the Battle of Blair Mountain. Watch the clip, Google search both events and learn just how important unity is.

What about the rumor of petitions to switch unions? IAM?

Might be something to give a thought to later down the road. I think you International has shown to be rather corrupt. However, that does nothing to fix the problems you have at the moment. I think petitioning for new representation at this point in time could have you end up in as big of mess as your pilots. You guys need to come together as one before you go tinkering with different unions in my opinion. Get this contract out of the way first!

Well it looks like Jerry Glass is earning his pay folks.

Got a text and I'm wondering if anyone of the F/A's that post here has been asked to remove their "Contract Now" luggage tags? Apparently this is taking place at some of the larger stations on the East Coast.

What's going on?

Why do you care .. Remember a few weeks back you posted the F/A's just gossip play puzzles ect. ect. ect.

No problem. One might think it would look much, much better on a "VEHICLE", riding around town for all to see.

Sky,

Excellent point!

I am curious though can US Management do what I heard about? Seems like a Union Buster practice. The only thing I can think of is they are claiming that your luggage is an extension of your uniform and thereby subject to those uniform rules. Fighting this dopey little battle just drains AFA's legal resources and again seems like text book union busting ala Jerry Glass

Hawk don't forget we are busy gossiping and playing puzzles ... as you said before. Don't worry about our uniforms and luggage you don't work here. You are a PAX!!!

Most likely it can be viewed that way, as US pays for the luggage and replaces it, so it is company property. Allowed to have name tag or crew tag, but political statements are probably a no no......I'm sure they can start nit picking at alot of uniform standards stufff and keep AFA busy for awhile...
