Just because the economy is weak and millions are out of a job doesn't mean you should take it lying down while your company tries to push a lousy contract down your throat with the help of the very union is that is to protect you. We posted a two hundred and fourty million dollar profit today and we're seriously facing the prospect of a crappy contract? Really? OhReally? NOT GONNA HAPPEN! ! ! ! 🙄

Kinda curious to see how the desert dynamic duo spins this......

"Were not out of the woods ....Scott and I haven't taken our bonuses yet - so we will reflect a loss for the year"

WE'RE HIRING SOON!!!!!! 157 West 350 East!
It's great that we will be hiring however, its still BS that the company showed no regard to the fact that there are PHX F/A's that have been here for 4+ years that will be making less than an East new hire.

Out of curiosity, how would they go about hiring? Would it be under east or west new hire contract rates? ( I'm going to assume west ) Would they have new hire classes in PHX or CLT?

Apparently the word is that all training will be in PHX. Ok so if true do they have the e190 and a330 door mockups in PHX? Will they give the east new hires int'l training in PHX? I mean helloooo?

Training is in PHX then for East differences / metal, the East f/a trainees will come to CLT to complete their training.
East trainees will be working under the East contract.
West trainees will be working under the West contract.

No, everyone in PHL will not get off RSV. PHL still has displaced people in CLT and DCA trying to get back in. They are adding time in CLT, not PHL. Nobody knows yet where they will be based.

Informational meetings in PHX regarding the Scheduling and Reserve sections of the contract. Hopefully someone can post some highlights for us.

Does the company need the 500 new hires coming online throughout 2011 or ready to go for the summer flying and new CLT international flying? If so how can they only use the West facilities for initial training? You can maybe train 75-100 people at a time in the Flight Center in PHX.

Who would put people in a classroom together with the situation of West new hires finding out that it will take them 3 years to get to the pay that the East new hires will get their first day on the line?

Where did you get the information that the CLT facility will not be used for most of the 6 week initial training? Doesn't make logiistical sense.

Don't flight attendants trainees in the West operation have to provide their own housing while in training? Just thinking out loud about the big cost savings to the company.

VAflyGal pretty much answered all this in her post above, and she's correct.

Hiring is partly for summer flying and partly due simply to attrition.

It's my understanding that new hires for East and those for West will be hired and trained separately - at least until everybody's under one contract.

That is a different answer. I was inquiring about VAFlygirl's statement that all new hires would do the bulk of their training in PHX and then East based new hires go to CLT only for additional aircraft training.

Either way, if we don't have a contract by February, a confusing situation to explain in a responsible manner to a potential new hire.

Yes, the senior flight attendants have definitely paid our dues. So sue us.

Yeah those were rough times, cooling your heels on RSV in PIT for six months before getting a block, passing sick when Daily called because you've been drinking IC Lights by the pool at Colodny West all afternoon. 😛

That was the case the last time there was a class. IIRC, the thinking was/is that with one base, the new hires would all be locals anyway.
